Halstead Arlington

We lived in Bozzuto communities for four years before buying our own home, and as much as I love our new house, it was hard to leave! All of the staff members — the front desk staff, the office staff, the building maintenance staff — were professional, friendly, and respectful. I always felt safe, and I felt a sense of home/​community thanks to these great people. The building always looked clean and up-​to-​date. Maintenance requests were addressed immediately. Anytime we had guests, the staff was accommodating. I thought the noise coming from Glebe and South Walter Reed would be a problem, but it was surprisingly quiet on both sides of the building (we lived in multiple units). I highly recommend the Halstead and Bozzuto communities across the board.

We just moved in and so far we have had mixed feelings. The amenities are nice and the rooms are roomy. We like the area and the tight security.
However our apartment didnt feel like it was move in ready. We had to put in 4 maintainance requests in the first week of living here. Various light bulbs were out and the carpets were dirty. I have never lived in an apartment (this the most expensive place Ive lived in) where after walking around barefoot or with socks the bottom of my feet were black. They are offering to shampoo the floors again but are asking us to move our furniture around. We have a sectional couch and a king size bed. Not quite something you can place in the hallway.

We arrived in the area after an exhausting 3 week road trip from California. The next day we looked at 8 different Arlington apartments. Halstead Arlington was our second to the last stop and by far the BEST! It all started with the friendly concierge when we entered and continued to the sales woman, Amanda. She connected with us personally and made you feel like you’d been friends for years.
We are a military family, and are fortunate to receive housing allowance each month. The tricky part to this is that it is not all given on the first of the month, they split it. This can be challenging when planning a budget when rent is due on the 1^st. When I explained the situation and asked if I could split the rent each month, they AGREED! This is a huge relief off our shoulders. You don’t know, unless you ask!
We have a young child, and knowing that the people below us aren’t hearing her run up and down the hall is a huge benefit (well, I assume since I can’t hear my upstairs neighbors!) I don’t hear my neighbors, unless they are going in and out of their apartments — doesn’t bother me.
The location is the best for walking to different places! Drug store, grocery, restaurants, entertainment, farmers market and transportation. By far this was the best choice for us and we hope to be here until the military moves us again.
We are so happy here!

I absolutely love living at the Halstead and have been a resident here for over three years. One of the main reasons why I love this building is because it is built so strong that I cannot even hear my neighbors. Feels like this is my own condo and not an apartment. And I have had my share of previous noisy apartments.
I also love the location. I can run across the street to get snacks at Rite Aid or if I wanted some Thai food that’s within steps of my door as well. Everything is right here!
Also the concierge and maintenance are really friendly! They always go out of their way to help me with anything I need and are happy to see me. It’s as genuine as it gets. They really are a top notch staff! I barely go into the main office as I don’t have a need to. That’s a good thing!
I highly recommend the Halstead for anyone looking for a great place to live! They really have taken care of me and I appreciate everything they have done.

As a current resident, I’ve been nothing but disappointed by my stay here. Apart from them botching my lease agreement by saying that utilities were metered individually and managing to negotiate a shorter stay due to their error, the apartment has been lackluster.
I am living in a studio that is directly in front of a set of elevators where neighbors are less than courteous, especially when taking their pets out. The incessant barking, urine in the elevators, and rowdy people in the hallways at night are just the beginning.
Let’s talk amenities. I moved in 3 months ago and that’s how long one out of the 4 treadmills have been out of order. In the last month another one has gone down. We pay amenities fees for broken equipment I guess.
I really could continue to rip into this place but you get my drift. The best part of the Halstead and the ONLY reason I gave it one star is the staff. The front desk and office staff is very sweet and welcoming.

Ive been here for two years now and for the most part it has been a pleasant experience. The staff here has always been helpful and went out of their way to make this place feel like home, until recently. I was call out of the area suddenly for work and in the mad rush to pack I miss submitting rent. I wasn’t able to return till the 8^th, a few days past the grace period and was welcomed with a nasty email, a $ 252 late fee and threats of attorney fees and court charges… really? I called Nathalie Arredondo, the assistant property manager and left a message when I’ll be back and that it was an over site. On arrival I went to the office to pay on the 9^th but was told only a money order or certified check would be accepted… once again, really? I guess 2 years of a clean payment record doesn’t justify common courtesy but one missed payment and you’re treated like a deadbeat.

This is the best building I’ve ever lived in. extremely quiet, great underground parking, and VERY clean. Everyone from concierges to leasing staff/​managers is very friendly and it’s obvious they want you to love where you live. The price is higher than other buildings on the pike but you get what you pay for and so far I’ve found the Halstead to be worth every penny.

I have been here for just over a month, and so far this place is awesome. First, start with the amazing leasing office staff. I had some issues with my first unit due to noise associated with the commercial gym located on the first floor. I voiced these concerns to the property manager, Kylee, and she came up to listen. After hearing the noise level (seriously folks… if you can LIFT the weight up, you can PUT IT DOWN without dropping it from waist-​level), she agreed to help me work something out, including transferring to a new unit, transferring to a sister complex down the street, or being let out of the lease completely. That last part blew me away – apartment complexes never release you from a contract! Primarily because of the fantastic customer service at the leasing office, I opted to stay and moved to a unit on the top floor. SO, kudos to the management team who helped me out with this: Kylee, Colleen, and Maleria.
Now, for my apartment: I had three major requirements for my apartment – a more modern apartment that was on the nicer end of the spectrum, off-​street parking, and a washer and dryer in the unit… I’m done saving quarters to have clean clothes, eff that. My unit is spacious with modern stainless steel appliances, and there is a stackable (full sized) washer and dryer in the unit. The counter tops are black granite, and top floor units have ~10ft ceilings with hardwood floors, Berber carpet in the bedrooms and dens.
Amenities: There’s a pool in the courtyard on the mezzanine level, although it appears small. It was closed when I moved in, but it’s surrounded by some great seating areas. The business center is ²⁴⁄₇ with several Macs, and there’s a club level party area that that can be reserved for parties. It’s got TVs and seating, as well as bar shuffleboard… love that. The gym is a solid gym for an apartment complex. There are 15 or so cardio machines, as well as dumbbells up to 50 lbs. I would like to see them expand that a little more to some heavier weights, and maybe add a cable crossover system. But it’s great for getting a workout in on short notice, also available ²⁴⁄₇. There’s also a golf simulator within the gym area, which will be great for keeping the game sharp in the winter.
It’s a great site, located directly across from the Drafthouse and on the same block as the Lost Dog and the ABC store. No metro station, but there’s shuttle service from the Halstead to the metro during morning and evening hours. Overall, I am truly happy with this place. I have heard rumors of price hikes after the first year, but until that happens, I am not going to worry about it.

We’ve been here just over a year now and love the location and the building. Sure, there are a few quirks (electrical issues that never quite got fixed, the pool cues are missing tips, etc), but overall the staff is great, building and property are clean and well maintained. The common areas are very nice including a pool table (helps I have my own cue), indoor gold simulator, zen garden, pool, and more.

I’m 6 months into my lease and I have to say that I am pleased; amenities, location, building upkeep, etc. Still TBD on the rent increase.
Pros:
— Shuttle service to/​from Pentagon and Pent. City
— Secured access/​concierge
— Apt layout
— Lots of places walkable (Giant, CVS, Lost Dog, P Brennans, 7E, ABC store), taxi’s frequently available
— Farmers Market across the street Sunday morning
— Monthy resident happy hours = free dinner once a month!
Cons:
— Concierge limited hrs (after hours you’re SOL if you forget your fob)
— Surcharge for paying rent w/​debit card.
— Apt walls along the hallway are VERY thin. I’ve never heard my neighbors, but can definitely hear people talking in the hallway.

Just moved in here and I like it so far. The staff, concierge, and even the people in the building are so nice and friendly. They are also smiling and talkative. They also do resident socials and happy hours. I haven’t been to one yet, so I can comment on how they are. There’s always parking in the building and it’s very safe and secure, and it’s kept clean and always smells so great. I feel like I’m in a fancy hotel every time I come into the lobby. They also have a free shuttle to and fro the Pentagon City/​Pentagon metro. I will probably will only live here for a year, but I like it so far! I would definitely recommend this place.

Don’t live here! They jack up the rent after one year… for me they raised it $ 250 more A MONTH!
