Georgetown Electrolysis & Skincare

At the risk of having more people discover this gem, Georgetown Electrolysis is the best in the DMV. I repeat you will not find better at the «high end» «spas» in DC or anywhere else around the area. I began with electrolysis (they do provided laser hair removal however I did not try it because laser hair removal was previously unsuccessful given my darker skin tone and because I researched and found only electrolysis can claim to be permanent). Sheila is so lovely to visit each time! It’s like being a guest in her home. The rooms are gorgeous, pristine and inviting. It is a calming experience upon enter the doors. Sheila herself is such a kind and generous soul, helpful and knowledgeable about skincare. After analyzing my skin she suggested trying a facial. I was hesitant about the process but I trust Sheila and her staff. And the result? My skin was GORGEOUS and glowing as soon as they were done. And in the following weeks the problem areas have cleared considerably. I would highly recommend this spa experience for any skincare or hair removal needs.

This place is absolutely amazing! You feel at home immediately because of the super personable, warm staff and after a few sessions see great results from the laser hair removal done by Sheila. I have thick, black hair and have always dreaded wearing tops due to my armpits (even though I would shave) now, after 4 sessions more than 50% of the hair is gone and my skin feels really smooth. I just decided to do my legs and upper lip too! SO thankful I found this place!

First time visit and I’m hooked! The electrolysis service was fantastic and nearly painless. WOW! Sheila was warm and welcoming and the time passed quickly. The ambiance is unparalleled… it’s so comfortable and beautiful. Everything and everybody in this spa makes you feel like family. GOOD ENERGY HERE!

I can proudly say that I barely use razors anymore! Only to touch up when going out to a fancy event.

The salon is beautiful and everyone is so warm and friendly! You feel like you’re home. Shelia promises that everyone who attends is family, and she treats you that way! I have been going for laser hair removal and find her to be thorough and reasonable. I can’t wait to try threading and facials!

This place is amazing. Have been going here for electrolysis for about six months and have seen great improvement. The people are warm and friendly, and usually run on time. I haven’t tried the facials but plan to next. Very reasonably priced as well.

I came here a few days before my wedding at the last minute for an oxygen facial and eyebrow threading/​dying and they blew me away! So, so happy I chose to come here. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the services were wonderful. My skin was glowing and my eyebrows have never looked better. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Sheila is wonderful. I am a fair skinned, dark haired Italian, and have always had very thick hair. Sheila knew immediately what to do and after one visit, I saw a noticeable difference. I have not only been happy with the results but the wonderful customer service. Although, I stopped feeling like a customer and started feeling more like an old friend after only a few appointments. I love them they are the best at their service and the ladies are super kind! You can’t regret coming here :) I always come every month and never miss an appointment. I prefer scheduling three months in advance so I can get my preferred time slots.

I’ve been going here for laser hair removal and not only have I been getting great results but they are so friendly. They make you feel so welcome and are so friendly. I will absolutely go back for facials and other services. Highly recommend.

This spa has been in the area for 17+ years! It started in Georgetown then moved to Arlington for more square footage. There are about 7 street parking spots directly in front of the salon but there is also a lot with 10+ more spots available (free). The lot is not clearly marked as to who will be towed and by which «owner» but I asked the front desk and they said I was good to go!
The spa itself is a blink and you miss it storefront! It’s in between two other unrelated businesses and the spa occupies a good portion of the second floor. Once you walk up a tiny long stairwell you’re welcomed by a sign that says «Come in» and immediately put at ease when you enter the foyer. Serving dishes are full of mints and fruit infused water, self serve style surrounded by plush seating arrangements are what you see immediately. It’s a beautifully decorated space. I did not use the restroom yet but I spotted one available. If you continue to round the corner you’re greeted by a man, 2 women, and Sheila. Also FOOD! In a kitchenette there was a spread of fresh fruit and pastries, it was an extremely hospitable environment. They offered me something to eat after double checking my name and taking my Groupon bar code. (Excellent deal for 5 sessions).
I waited for about 10 min start to finish for Sheila to finish up with another client, during that time i completed the consent and medical history form, which included asking for your ethnicity. I found that last bit interesting but possibly pertinent for treating skin. I was escorted back to the laser treatment room. There’s a sitting chair, a massage chair, two machines, and two beds. Sheila introduced herself and her machine. They use the DLT (I think I remembered that correctly) there is one machine for all skin types and it goes up to 40 J!
I explained that I am in the «forever touch up» phase of laser hair removal. I have been treated for over two years by Laser Elite Center in McLean for the same two areas. But I had to come in once every few weeks to have a small amount of lasering done to maintain appearances. Sheila seemed surprise but hopeful that she and her team could finally kill my remaining hair!
The laser hurt on my scale a 5 out of 10. Completely tolerable as long as I think of the results! Sheila explained what she was doing as she did it, which was crucial and asked me to return in 6 weeks!
Sheila also offered $ 150 off of the online special for another treatment area. That seems pretty steep for just 5 sessions but because of everyone’s pleasing personality here I will return! Bring cash for a tip!
As an aside, Sheila’s eyebrows are amazing. They’re not skinny, they’re not plain. They’re full, arched, and long! I think I’m going to give my eyebrows a shot here as long as they turn out like Sheila’s, there’s nothing worse than being blessed with big eyebrows and someone takes all the hair out till their as skinny as penciled in eyebrows!

Shelia and her team are a second family to me. I was a random client about a year ago, seeking out electrolysis for my eyebrows and now I feel like I have not only received amazing hair removal services, but another place to call home. Everyone here is super friendly, accommodating, warm, and know exactly what they are doing when it comes to skin care. I go regularly for electrolysis on my face and eyebrows and have added bi monthly facials to my regimen. The team go out of their way to find an appointment time that works for you. And if there is something that you don’t absolutely love, they will certainly make it right. The best of the best, you will not be disappointed.

I love Sheila. She’s an artist at hair removal and she treats me like a daughter. I’ve had laser hair removal on my face and bikini area with great and lasting results. There’s no better place!

This is my first time writing a review on Unilocal.I have been going to Shiela and Neelu for about 3 months now. I was hesitant and doubtful about getting laser done on my face but oh boy the results after just two sessions are extraordinary! I am of Indian ethnicity and have had stubborn facial hair. Can’t wait to see them all gone by the end of all 6 sessions :) I love Neelu’s extractions and eyebrow threading. My face hasn’t looked better!!!

I just started seeing Sheila for electrolysis and I am so impressed! First of all, Sheila is the nicest, most welcoming person you will ever meet. I’ll probably start getting other miscellaneous services done just to keep seeing her (is that creepy lol)

Sheila is the most sweetest caring person. sheila takes great care of me and makes me feel like family, as she does with everyone. From eyebrows, electrolysis, to facials you will not leave here disappointed.

I was looking for the perfect eyebrow place, and seems to have found it.
I have had several negative experiences getting my eyebrows done at other places over the years. At one of the indian threading places, the woman was so clueless i ended up with tiny cuts in the area under my brow — ouch! I have also been to several of the asian-​run spas on U-​street — but the problem with those is is sometimes either they take too much hair off (I hate pencil thin brows!), or the person is too rough and makes the waxing painful — it’s just not been consistent So i needed to find a great new reliable eyebrow place, and i wanted a place that knew threading, since its gentler on the skin around the eyes than waxing — and some Unilocal research got me to this place. I wanted to get back to a more thicker and natural but still well-​shaped brows. At this point, I have been to Neelu several times, and my brows are regaining much more of a thicker natural shape. I have one brow that’s slightly thinner and less arched than the other, and she has done a great job of making them look almost even. Like the other reviews say, these Persian ladies know how to open up your eyes and make them pop. And work atmosphere at this place is really wonderful — these ladies are warm, wonderful and make you feel at home instantly. So now I go back every couple of weeks, and plan to continue going to this place. In the future, i might try out some of the other services as well.
On a side note, i was using a Talika eyebrow serum to help my eyebrows grow back faster and it seemed to work — so might be something worth checking out as well.

Shelia is every woman’s secret weapon; she is like the sister you never had.
Her spa is a warm family atmosphere full of love and can do attitude. I have been with Shelia for 7 or 8 years now. I followed her from the Georgetown location. I will have no one else do my eye brows.
I love how she taught me the importance of doing micro between the breasts to ensure that skin stays lovely as you age.
This is not the type of spa where everything is white and highly understated. This is a woman owned business full of love and good service.

This place is great! :) The ladies that work here are very knowledgeable and try to make you feel as comfortable as possible. They were very thorough with the cleaning process and extracting and I left feeling clean, fresh, and unclogged. I actually came all the way from the heart of DC to Clarendon for a facial and I definitely think it was worth it! Would definitely recommend this place, especially if you’re on a budget! My 60 minute facial cost $ 85, which is much cheaper than so many places in DC.
