I’ve eaten at several other Genghis locations before. I am a fan. The food has never disappointed. This particular location seemed to be understaffed and in need of some organization. But the food was good nonetheless and I enjoyed my meal and visit. Thanks in particular to my waitress Maddie. She was the one who seemed to be running around putting out fires and making sure I and other people were taken care of. Thanks for the work Maddie, you were awesome.

Love this place way too much. I will be moving to San Francisco soon and I don’t know what I will do without them. Genghis is a must have for anyone who loves having options and who also love Asian cuisine.

Was completely ignored when I walked in and had to ask for my drink twice. But the food was good and the restaurant was clean.

We gave you guys another chance… and you blew it again. We showed up at 1130am and you appeared to be fully staffed. I was seated and waiting almost 10 minutes while I watched the waitress talk to the bar keep and host before coming to our table. Then we watch another group walk in, get waited on immediately and jumped ahead of us in line. We waiting another 6 or 7 minutes for anyone to show up to get the line started. We left at this point. Let me just say the host acted like he didn’t care from the very beginning. Even when we left nothing was said as we walked out. Judging from the past reviews, management clearly doesn’t read Unilocal or simply doesn’t care. Either way I’ll bet that the chain’s reputation and store location are the only reason why this place stays in business… it’s certainly not for the experience or service. So sad.

I have eaten Here several.times. This time it was disgusting. First my birthday email had no certificate which showed no expiration date. They let me use it anyways. Mushy overcooked supposed to be fried rice was terrible. I was busted and disgusted. I will be calling corporate in the morning. What should have been a nice gift turned out to be a gift from hell. Not feeling this. Oh the manager if I stopped string to rice around he could replace it. Yeah while the rest of my bowl gets cold. Really.

Whoa!!! What the heck happened to this place? Walking in the door it seemed kinda nasty. At 12:45 pm there was only 1 person in here, and when i left an hour later there was nobody but me and the staff. That’s unusual for a Highlands restaurant at lunch time. I didn’t find anything objectionable about the food. It’s as it’s always been from what I could tell, but the waitress seemed as if she was annoyed because she had to wait on someone. I’ll go back and give it another try this week or next. I hope it’s a little nicer experience next time.

Great food great staff. I stopped going when they changed everything up for a while there. But I see they brought almost all the originals back. If its not broken dont fix it. I love that everything is back to normal you are now my favorite spot again… all smiles!

My husband and I visited this location of Genghis Grill on Saturday, the food and service was great. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday. This is one our favorite places to eat, the food was hot and on time. Our server RJ was excellent, he was very attentive to our needs. The only concern was why they took the shrimp and eggs away. My husband and I love shrimp and eggs with our stir fry. I hope they reconsider and bring these two items back.

I have loved genghis grill in the past. This experience sucked. I can’t fill out my own card anymore. The waitress took away that fun. They don’t have eggs anymore. And there’s not even salt on the table. First the shrimp is gone and now the eggs. What’s going to be next? The rice was definitely lacking. Seemed old by how it clumped together. I get that’s it’s a Tuesday night but step up your game. I feel that genghis grill was trying to provide more customer service with helping in filling out the cards but it really backfired. Thank goodness my meal will be free because of my birthday coupon because I am very upset and wouldn’t pay for this meal. I probably won’t be back unless I have another one free coupon. Edit: the manager remembered my name and asked me by name how my food was. That was nice. Raising to two stars.

I wanted to share my experience with Unilocal on a recent complaint sent to the corporate office for Genghis Grill in Arlington. I’ve attached my complaint and their response. Happy readings:) On April 14th, I ran across a ‘birthday bowl’ email sent from Genghis Grill(for my April 12th birthday). Not realizing the offer expired on my birthday(which is odd by the way), I called our closest Genghis Grill restaurant(Arlington Highlands in Arlington, TX) to see if there would be a problem using it. I asked to speak with a manager and ‘H****’(who I later found out was a host) assured me the birthday bowl coupon would be honored as they’re normally good for the entire month of your birthday. So, my husband and I decided we would get two bowls(to-go), one for me(the birthday girl) and purchase a bowl for himself. When we arrived at the Arlington Highlands location, we were greeted by H****(I did not know he was the gentleman I spoke with earlier over the phone). He instructed us on the ‘new policy’ for making bowls and told us to check-out at the bar. Once we got our bowls(mine was ready first), I proceeded to the bar area to check-out and was helped by ‘G******’(did not know her role or name at the time). I told her that I got an approval to use the birthday bowl coupon from a young man I spoke with earlier(could not recall his name, but mentioned he may have been the manager). I further explained that I would be purchasing a 2nd bowl for my husband. First, she corrected me and said she was the manager and could not honor the birthday coupon because it expired on April 12th, but would give me a «percentage off» the birthday bowl. I told her I wasn’t happy with just the ‘percentage off’ because the whole purpose of my visit was to redeem my free bowl and purchase a 2nd one. And, if there was a problem with using the coupon, that should’ve been explained to me earlier when I called. She said, «Well, that may have been a host you spoke to. Also, there has been a recent change with the birthday bowls where coupons were valid the entire month, but not anymore; so, I can’t honor it.» Well, of course, I became upset and said if she couldn’t honor the free bowl then I wasn’t interested in taking either one home. She said, «Okay«and appeared to be done with our conversation. Before my husband and I left, we expressed to her that we felt it was poor judgment(as a manager) to not honor what one of her employees said to a customer AND to allow money be thrown away(especially on a slow Tuesday). You’re losing money on not just one bowl, but two. My husband and I returned to the restaurant a few minutes later. He went back in to get the names of H**** and G*****. H***** actually admitted that he spoke with me earlier over the phone and apologized for the misinformation(this confession took place in front of G******), but it changed nothing. _______________________________________ Response from Genghis Grill Corporate Office: It would be my pleasure to assist you! I apologize for all of the confusion that took place in the store! Our Free Birthday Bowl policy has changed as of November of 2014. It is applied to your account on the Monday of your birthday week and expires on that following Sunday. Due to your birthday falling on a Sunday this year, it expired on that day. The management of the store was unable to honor your Free Birthday Bowl on the store level because of the way our POS system is programmed. In order to attach a Free Birthday Bowl to your receipt, they must have a valid Free Birthday Bowl on your account to attach. If there is not a Free Birthday Bowl to attach, there is an error message that appears, stating that the attachment cannot be completed. Unfortunately, we do not have alternative to this redemption within our POS system. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. __________________________________________ I don’t know, but after reading their response, I’m not getting the ‘true’ feeling that they actually care about my experience. We visited this place looking for good Mongolian grill but were left disappointed. As we walk up to pick out our food, we noticed that the floor near the food area was super sticky. The floor was not sticky anywhere else in the restaurant — just around the food serving line. I had to consciously lift my shoes up off the floor step by step as I was walking the line to pick my food. Perhaps they wanted us to «work out» before we sat down and ate the food so that we would be hungrier and the food would taste better(?) I don’t know, but it was kinda gross and we lost some of our appetite. The Regular Bowl seems rather small to be regular. That is where the art of piling on the food comes in. Start the bottom of the bowl with meats as your base, then add the veggies on top. If you want to get almost every food choice offered in your bowl, you can only get a small portion/sampling of each. At the end of the line, you will have all your food piled up like a mountain. There is a small bowl for sauces, and there are a lot to choose from. If you grab a lot of 1 food choice, that will be the main, if not only, thing that you will eat in your bowl. Your eyes will always be bigger than your stomach when going to a place like this. All the meats and veggie containers looked clean, and there didn’t seem to be any cross-contamination, as others have noted. But this may be because we went to this place for an early lunch on a Sat. $ 8.99 for a Regular Bowl seems a bit high for the quality and portion size. Utensils(forks) could use a bit more cleaning in the dishwasher. Service was ok up until we tried to get our server’s attention for the bill. That was a task in itself. Our server was quite busy, so we finally got another server’s attention who took our bill and payment, and she just took it and put it on the bar counter until our server got around to the bar to pick it up. Didn’t really make any sense. I would recommend the all-you-can-eat Chan’s Mongolian Grill in North Richland Hills over this place anytime. For the same price, you get better quality of food and service.

One of my fav restaurants to go to where the food is made for you Hibachi style! You can pick one of their flavorful bowl recipes and simply follow the instructions to create the same dish or if you’re like me and like variety then you can make your own! Have a seat while waiting for your bowl to be brought to your table hot and fresh. I strongly recommend the Pot Stickers while you are waiting! They are delicious and a wonderful treat.

Loved the idea of creating my own stir fry dish but the service left a bad taste in my mouth. Tried this place on a whim after friends had recommended it several times. I’m a big fan of stir fry so I was pretty excited. After being seated and given only one menu(there were two of us) we were left to figure things out for ourselves. Since it was our first time there we had no idea how everything worked. After a few confusing minutes, the menu doesn’t help at all by the way, we finally asked the waitress and she gave us instructions. We went to the counter to create our bowls(further instructions were needed) and returned to our seats. My roommates dish was brought over first and then I waited for mine for another 15 minutes before the waitress even realized I hadn’t been served. 10 minutes later my food finally arrived. Thankfully it was as delicious as I hoped it would be. I’ll probably return to give Ghengis another chance. Hopefully the waitstaff will be a little more attentive next time.

This is the best thing that has happened to me in years. I love it. It’s kind of on the expensive side, but it’s worth the money. It’s good to go here for lunch because food is $ 1-$ 2 cheaper during lunch hours.

This place is an absolute nightmare waiting to happen. The system is not setup for success, and it wasn’t even busy when we went in. Tongs are cross contaminated with all kinds of raw meats, handles messy from laying on the wet meats. When I brought this to the attention of the guy working this station his reaction was to grab the tongs with his own messy gloved hand, wipe with paper towel and attempt to hand it back to me… Needless to say I lost my appetite after that. Eat at your own risk.

Good food, but our server was non-existent. I’ve been to a different location that didn’t charge to play the games on the table device, but this location charges $ 1. That’s frustrating considering it took half an hour to get the food. It is a Friday night, but you’d think they’d be ready for business. We got there at 8 and left at 930; over an hour was spent waiting for service.

Went here for a birthday dinner coupon and the food was delicious. The service was good, but failed to tell us how to users cards they provide. the Mongolian food was very good. I would recommend coming here for a nice dinner. The large bowl is perfect serving for $ 9.99. The Bill is paid on the electronics scanner on the table which is convenient..

Stir fry made simple. Always remember, if it fits in the bowl, they cook it. Make it the way you want it. The ingredients are good, what more could you ask for? I will for sure be coming back. The location in Arlington has friendly staff.

I occasionally get weird cravings to come here. And when I do, I forgot that this place has given me food poisoning. Not once, but twice! However, I went back here last week for the first time in months, and the food did not make me physically sick. For those of you who have not visited a Genghis Grill before, it’s the better Subway of Asian food. I’ll walk you through it. Come in and get greeted by a friendly hostess at the counter. After being seated, your waiter will usually ask if you have visited the restaurant before(so they can explain), and if you would like anything to drink. I haven’t ordered an alcoholic drink from here before, but they do have a full bar available. My boyfriend and I have made to-go orders from the bar and watched the bartenders do their thing. Unlike a lot of other restaurants, these guys will put on a good show if someone’s watching. I can imagine the drinks taste as exciting as they make them. Anyway after you’re seated, you have to get up again to create your meal. The waiter gives you a stainless steel bowl and container to take to the back. The smaller stainless steel container is for sauce, and the bigger bowl is for all of your ingredients. When you head over there, you can see a buffet table full of raw food. Here’s the fun part: choosing all of your ingredients and packing it into your bowl. I personally compact my bowl to the extreme and make sure that there’s an overflowing mountain by the time I get to the end of the line. The employees don’t mind if you choose to not put your egg in the bowl(so I never do), since it gives you room to fit in another pinch of vegetables. There’s also many sauces to choose from at the end of the line. I would suggest trying each of them with a tasting spoon first before deciding which one to use. After coming here a few times, I find that filling your sauce container ¾ of the way up is the best ratio for the amount of food that I have. ½ isn’t enough, but a full container is too overpowering. When you reach the end of the line, you choose what kind of starch you want to add to your ingredients. I usually get the udon noodles, but my boyfriend is a fan of the rice. Whatever you choose, you can’t really go wrong since you already chose everything else that goes into it. The chef then takes your ingredients and cooks it on a circular iron grill with paddles. I would recommend watching for a few minutes and leaving a tip if your chef is talented. I’ve seen a few who have a great time cooking and do awesome tricks. Overall, never had a bad experience here from the staff. I did mention earlier that I had gotten food poisoning from here before. I believe it was from the raw meat ingredients. Since they leave the items out, most of them were not refrigerated for hours. I most likely got sick from the ingredients being left out and the chef not properly cooking the food to kill off the salmonella. It’s somewhat of a risk for me to come here, but I think about how good the food is so I end up risking it anyway. Definitely try it out if you’re interested in creating your own food!

Is it me or have the stainless steel bowls gotten smaller? You will have to make sure you strategically place your meats and veggies in the bowl to get everything to the grill line. We visited this Genghis location on Friday to commence my birthday weekend. I was super excited to use my coupon for my free birthday bowl. Our server was very nice and gave us a refresher on how to go through the line. We eagerly piled ingredients into our bowls and then shimmied over to the grill line. There weren’t a ton of bowls in front of us, but imagine our frustration when we waited over a half hour for our bowls of food. Our table, the table next to us, the table behind us, and I’m sure plenty of other tables were wondering what on earth had happened to their food. One of our crew is a vegetarian, and she debated getting another bowl. She finally went for it and the second wait was excruciating. She said that after making her bowl she set it down next to the grill and realized there were about ten or so other bowls in front of hers. I’m not even sure what the deal was. There were three«grillers’ or «stir-fryers», if you will, back there. We’d arrived at 7 and left after 9. We couldn’t believe it. I don’t think I’ve ever waited that long for food at Genghis. That was really the only bad part of our experience. Otherwise, I enjoy the concept and tasting the different bowls you can make – some people get so creative!
