Westgate Dental Care

I started at Westgate 6 months ago. It was a new doctor to me, so I didn’t know how it would go.
It was fantastic! Everyone is so friendly and all greet you cheerfully. I was given a tour of the facility and introduced to staff. It was a very personal experience.
They have new, up to date equipment and explain everything to you as the appointment goes along, asking if you have questions/​concerns.
My hygienists are always friendly, asking about you and sharing about themselves. The dentist I’ve had remembered me from last time and asked questions from information she remembered from my previous visit.
The office is contemporarily decorated and is a clean, inviting space. They accepted my insurance, but also have a great payment plans if you don’t have insurance.
Everyone makes you feel very comfortable and welcome. Check this place out!

Friendly and positive staff with a great location in Arlington Heights. They have always been on time and are easy to schedule appointments with. I definitely recommend this office.

I went here last year. Awesome office, clean, great staff very friendly. great at explaining everything. Very high tech which is great because they can keep track of notes of what you experienced last time.
Only problem, while they may accept all dental insurance PPO’s they aren’t IN NETWORK with them so your not going to save the most money. This place is going for the high quality market but if your willing to spend a little more, go for it.

I have been going to this office for almost eight years now and I am sad to say that they have shifted their focus from quality care to marketing. A couple years ago I had a cavity filled by then which then became inflamed and infected. I went back a couple days later and they said that it needed a root canal. I paid out of the pocket for both procedures because even though they were out of network for me, I thought since we had been going to them for years it was worth it. They put a cap on the tooth and it still didn’t feel right. For two years I had pain on and off. Then the cap cracked. I went back and paid out of pocket for a third procedure and a new cap. But I still had issues with that tooth off and on. I then went back for pain in another tooth and they said that I needed a root canal and new caps for which they were charging me $ 5000. I called my insurance just to ask if those were appropriate prices and found it it was well overpriced. At that point I became frustrated and decided to go to a specialist. This specialist took a CT scan and checked all of my teeth. He said that no root canal was required on the tooth that they had identified and that all was needed was a cap. He then took a look at the tooth that had been bothering me for years, for which I had three procedures done at Westgate dental and paid out of pocket for, and he identified a canal that they had not been filled and was infected. I am so upset and disappointed with Westgate Dental. What an awful experience! I have paid thousands out of pocket for procedures that weren’t done properly and was going to pay thousands for a root canal that I didn’t need! I think they need to not focus on their iPad giveaways and focus more on patient care.

I was contacted by Westgate Dental for their Patient Appreciation Party of the Oktoberfest. I am an event planner, and when I went to there office for a meeting, I was so impressed with their staff, that I decided to make an appointment! They are friendly, and gentle and glad we could work together! My son was also impressed with their staff.
I highly recommend Westgate Dental!

The staff at Westgate is exceptionally professional. They treat my family with the utmost of care! Their hours are fantastic and the office of impeccably clean. With the additional dentists they have added to their staff, Westgate is always available to handle almost any dental emergency that arises.
We particularly appreciate the estimate of charges before dental work is completed, which shows us the insurance payment and estimated patient portion.

I’ve only been going here for a few months, but the staff and doctors here are friendly, courteous, and gentle. I have to get a crown I had been putting off for a few years, and they made a plan to fit my budget and timeline so I didn’t feel rushed or forced into anything. I really appreciated the hygienists positive attitude and expert explanations about everything they were seeing and what it all meant for my health.
I’ve never been to such a friendly dentist office. I’ll update after my crown with how that experience goes.

Went in to have my teeth cleaned and have my temporary crown replaced .due to work schedule this temporary crown had been on over 2months instead of normal 3weeks but was still like new. What was nice was my normal dentists assistsnt was working on another patient but took time to stop in my room to say hello and ask how I was doing !!!

I was very impressed with Westgate Dental. I honestly went here because I live down the street. I’m not usually that lucky when I’m that impulsive, but I hit the jackpot with this place. I went in for a 6 month checkup and cleaning. Everyone had great bedside manner, made me feel comfortable, and answered my questions. The cleaning was painless, and I didn’t feel like I had to pay for unnecessary procedures. The only thing that went wrong had to do with scheduling; I went in the first time with my appointment card and was told I wasn’t on their schedule. I had to come back again the following Saturday, but I didn’t mind. I work in a medical office so I understand that appointment mistakes can happen. Everyone’s friendly personalities made up for it. It’s rare to go to a business and be treated so kindly by everyone you talk to – the staff at Westgate all genuinely seem to care about your well being. Love their thoroughness, and also love their speediness!

I’m writing this review to explain why I agree that this office really is excessively focused on money, not quality care or competence. I don’t mind paying a premium for an impeccable experience. My experience here took me from not really minding the dentist to being flat out scared (until I got back to my old hometown dentist!) I gave them 2 stars because their office is modern and they clearly spend a lot of time on bedside manner.
I had moved from out of state and needed a new dentist because I chipped some old bonding on a front tooth. This office had good reviews, however I had nothing but problems with them.
It was recommended that I have crowns done on my 3 front teeth. That was fine because I had bonding on them and knew that bonding isn’t a permanent solution. I had good insurance, however they failed to bill the insurance for the required x-​rays, despite claiming to me that the x-​rays were a medical necessity because my teeth were negatively affected by the previous bonding being old. That’s a big bill, for the record.
I had the crowns done, and I was sent out of the room with one of my front crowns SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than the other. Thank goodness I checked my purse mirror before leaving. They evened them out upon my immediate complaint, however within a day, the crown chipped while I was brushing my teeth, which is abnormal. I had to go back to have a new crown made, which requires wearing a temporary for a week… and going through drilling and novocaine shots, etc.
I should also mention that each time I was given novocaine, my mouth became very swollen. I mentioned this to them and was told it was normal, even though it had literally never happened with my old dentist. It took at least 5 days each time for my face to go back to normal.
I moved back to my hometown shortly after the fixed crown was put on, and within a month needed a root canal on the front tooth that had required the 2^nd crown (which apparently is caused when a tooth is drilled too much and the nerve becomes infected). This was done by my hometown dentist, and of course, I did not swell up due to the novocaine injection.
I just received a bill, 9 months after all of this, from them. It just had a balance on it, no explanation of what it was for, what was/​was not covered, etc. I had to call to request that, which just seemed ‘par for the course’.

If you’re fed up with medical professionals who treat you like you’re not important, try Westgate Dental.
Dr. Kics’ staff welcome you by name every time you enter and get you into treatment immediately. If for some reason the doctor can’t see you at once he’ll at least come to greet you and let you know that you are important to him.
When he has an appointment with you he’ll keep it. His entire staff acts as if your time is precious and that making you late isn’t an option to them.
Everything my family has had done has been performed expertly and with precision. They’ve sent text messages to remind us before each appointment we’ve set and are simple to communicate with.
We used to go to Arlington Heights’ local «boutique» dental office but now we refer all our friends to Westgate Dental.

I needed emergency dental care when I broke a tooth during my lunch break. The crack was pretty painful so I googled dental offices in the area and found Westgate Dental Care. The fit me into their already busy schedule the same day without hesitation, and it didn’t matter that I didn’t have dental insurance – they offer Care Credit and other financing options! Each staff member was courteous and professional. Dr. Wics explained all possible scenarios to me so I was not in the dark about anything. He ended up saving my tooth and fitting me for a crown. He even called me personally the next day to see how I was feeling. I will definitely use Westgate Dental for all of my future dental needs, and recommend that you do too!!!

I moved to IL from MI. I needed a cleaning and went to Westgate on a referral from a coworker. I have to say I was less than impressed. I was there for OVER an hour, in that time frame they walked me through the office to see all of their «awards» and used a super special camera to show me the inside of my mouth, never once did I receive the cleaning I went in there for.
They also proceeded to tell me that I had gingivitis and needed to get 3 different laser treatments to reverse it. Oh and that I needed two fillings…
I had a funny feeling about all of it; I have always had excellent dental checkups. I moved back to MI and went and saw the dentist I had been with for years. He could find NOTHING wrong with my gums or teeth. Westgate is in the business of making money off of unnecessary procedures.
They also tried to do the same to my boyfriend.
Westgate is out to get your money; they care very little about your care and more about how they can rip you off. STAY AWAY!

Dental visits had been a traumatic childhood experience, so much so it carried for a long time into adulthood for me.
But Westgate is managed by an extremely capable team from front desk to hygienists to assistants to dentists that even when I moved farther away from the practice, I continue to rely on them for all my dental care.
Dr Kics stays up to date with the technology and the staff he hires is impressive from their bedside manners to expertise. Be it a general cleaning or root canal, I always look forward to my visit there because I know I can count on them to care for my best oral interest.

I have had nothing but problems when it came to the billing of the services. They did not bill my insurance and then charged me too much because of it. It has been a hassle to get my money back. Beware that the initial estimates might not be accurate.

This review is for their receptionist only — I have never met someone so pushy in my life, and I work with sales reps regularly. She refused to answer any questions I had and kept going into some pitch to «get me in.» Me coming in depended on a lot of information to make sure it was not a waste of my time or theirs (e.g. procedures and availability, insurance coverage, etc.). She kept skirting my questions and spoke over me like an automated system without so much as a breath… Horrible. Judging by the reviews, I would like to assume this is not a reflection of the practice, but they lost a potential customer.

These folks are great. I went to them for a second opinion and am so glad I found them. I had fillings yesterday and, granted I was running on 3 hours of sleep, but I fell asleep during it… Clearly not a traumatizing procedure thanks to their care.
Whenever I have been numbed before, my throat has numbed and I’ve had trouble swallowing. I voiced this concern and throughout the procedure the dentist continued to ask if I was okay. They got me in and out quickly since I was on my lunch hour and, to top it off, even called last night to make sure I was still doing okay.
Never going anywhere else again.

After having some pains in my mouth, I scheduled an appointment at Westgate for the following day. Found out that I needed a filling and they were able to scheduling me in for the following morning. Scheduling appointments is super easy and they are very flexible with you, especially if you’re experiencing discomfort. Dr Athar even personally called me the following day to make sure I was feeling okay.
The employees are so kind! They genuinely care about you. They have a patient referral program and even offer new patient gifts!
Great location as well with free parking at the nearby garage.

I’ve been coming here since 2012, and I can’t say enough good about this place! I have had 2 fillings, and regular checkups, and everything has gone smoothly. When I come here I have to remind myself I’m at the dentist office! They have water and coffee for you while you wait, and they will give you anything else you need while you are there. I’ve never been to a dentist/doctor’s office where I felt so comfortable.
Everyone who works here is super friendly and caring. They explain everything they are doing, so you are never wondering what’s going on. They are thorough, and they use the newest equipment to make sure that your teeth are in tip top shape! Dr. Kics and Dr. Athar are both great — they will sit and have a conversation with you, just about life! I feel like a friend here, not a patient.
They have email/​text reminders, as well as a phone call when you have an appointment, so you won’t forget! They also have a great patient referral program as well. Seriously, if you are looking for a dentist, come here!
