Enjoy the sunset over Humboldt Bay from the deck of this newly restored Craftsman home. The house sits on a secluded one half acre overlooking Arcata, the bay, and the distant ocean. Large windows bring in light and views from all directions. The house was lovingly crafted in 1907 with the finest redwood available. Simple turn of the century woodwork details enhance this elegant farmhouse. The living room looks out at the redwood trees along the creek in the valley below the house.

The kitchen is fully equipped, and features Victorian cabinetry. Each bedroom has a queen bed with ultra soft bedding and cozy comforters. The bathroom has the original claw foot bath tub.

The ‘detached unit’ is a cabin with another bedroom, with a queen bed, lots of windows, and a deck overlooking the Arcata area. The cabin is only offered to guests staying in the house and there is an additional nightly charge.

The property is a short walk from downtown Arcata and the Humboldt State University campus.

Our places are regularly maintained by a outgoing team of family and friends who perform all the maintenance themselves, and strive to provide the best experience possible for your stay, with helpful recommendations on the areas activities and dining options.

We also have 3 studios, the Redwood Bungalow, and a 4 bedroom Victorian available. Contact us for more information.

History

Established in 1993.

Arcata is a small university town located between Humboldt Bay and the Arcata Redwood Forest. The spectacular rocky seacoasts, beaches, and forests of Redwood National Park are just to the north. The beautiful clear rivers of the Six Rivers National Forest are both north and south.

Redwood forests, concerts, restaurants, and movies are all a pleasant walk away. The university brings major entertainment acts for reasonable prices and no parking problems, from Ray Charles to the Tokyo String Quartet.

Arcata has many community events, from the Oyster Festival, to bird watching gatherings, and a lively Saturday Farmer’s Market. The Marsh Ponds are world famous for bird watching, and the Community Forest has miles of wild and remote hiking trails.
