Avis Rent A Car

In all my car rental experiences this location was the most pleasant and memorable! :-) I reserved my vehicle online and during pick up the staff were friendly and even took time to show me where the basic controls were located in order to properly operate the vehicle, I had never had this experience at other rental locations/​agencies. Will rent from this location again in the future.

Great place to rent a car! Called in to rent a car and on that same day I was able to get my rental car. No hassle no drama. Returned the car they did not charge any extra fees. Staff is great awesome customer service. Thank you Paul and wife.

Me and my mother rent at this location even though we live in Monrovia.
I’ve been to a lot of Avis rental offices and let me tell you that the people who work and run this location are amazing! Great friendly awesome customer service with quik and easy departure, when picking up and dropping off.
Clean location and great clean vehicles.
I highly recommend renting at this location in Arcadia.
I go no where else but here from now on.

I decided to write a review of this Avis location because I really am not sure what these other few people with bad reviews are talking about.
Paul is a great guy as he and his staff treat their customers with respect. I have a lot of experience renting from this location as we left one of our cars back in Scottsdale when we moved here.
Paul and his wife are «real people» and treat their customers the way they would want to be treated. They are completely honest and approachable. Should you need to talk to them prior to your rental or durning your rental period… They will always take their time to give you their advice.
Without sounding cliché: I really feel at home here. They are not stuffy like other rental places.
Here’s the only problem I can think of: like any business — you get a few pretentious, self entitled crazy people… If things aren’t going their way that day… They are so quick to post nasty reviews. People need to think twice before they throw a cyber tantrum. People need to calm down and start treating each other with respect. Let’s remember the golden rule here.
This is a great business with great people and with a location that has everyone else beat… Hands down.

I made a reservation on the avis website, as I always do, for the avis in Pasadena. I get there on time, to my surprise, they don’t have a car for me. He calls whoever has my car and the person is stuck at Dominos… yeah that’s what I said. I’m so surprised that I can’t even get mad. They offer me a mini van I decline. tells me he has a Volvo but it isn’t clean. A dirty rental car to me is like a dirty hotel… he tells me there’s a car at the avis
I’m Arcadia. Okay I decide to do that. Still too shocked to be pissed. My friend drives there.
Here’s where it gets better. I walk in with a smile and the girl at the counter, Christine or Christina couldn’t have gave me the worse customer service in my life that I thought it was in my head so I take her bullshit… her ugly ass attitude… pretty much she didn’t want to rent me the car and wanted to do a credit check on me that has never in my years renting thru avis, been done. Okay 2 hours later I finally rent the scratched up piece of crap Mazda. .and my friend tells me in front of the stick up her ass lady. ‘This chicken is clearly acting like a bitch.

Ok this place is no good for one they guy who answers phones is not professional with customers. Second this is the only place I know does credit check for a rental lol really? And third the cara where dirty!

Do Not rent from this place. They are a rip off. They overcharged me & the guy who works behind the counter charged the wrong C. C twice! The manager Christina is obnoxious & doesn’t know the first thing about renting cars or customer service. Do Not rent from here unless you want to be ripped off & talked down too!
HORRIBLE HORRIFIC SERVICE :(

Things they don’t tell you here, until you learn them the hard way:
1. This is actually a combined Avis and Budget office. Seems they merged recently.
2. This is NOT a Fast Break location. This is a Slow Break location. Expect to spend at least ½ hour renting or returning, because no one around here is in any hurry to do ANYTHING.
3. They tried to claim that a VW bug was a midsize car.
4. Where anything is on the the car.
5. That another day is another day’s charge, PLUS some lame extension charge.
6. That there is a toll road transponder on the car, that supposedly will incur charges even if you never use it!
The car I got was dirty: bugs on the front, dirty windows, etc.
I thought I would save money on a long drive over using my own car; but it’s too much of a hassle here.

That talkative dude IS THE MAN! He talks forever, but he gets the job done.
8 AM and we have no rental for a planned trip since both Budget and Enterprise gave us a horrible time
We originally planned to get a minivan, but this dude got us an Infiniti QX60 for $ 73 a day, WITH TAX as a substitution for a Ford Edge. We were originally quoted $ 100 a day before tax at both Budget and Enterprise for a typical Sienna XLE minivan. That’s a god damn bargain. AND we can drive out of state with no issues.
WTF, SOOOO CRAZY, disregard every other car rental and make Avis your #1, especially since they are so awesome with upgrades and alot less stringent with where you can drive the god damn thing.

I don’t think I’ve ever had SUCH a horrible experience at a car rental before.
Came in asking for a quote for a car (I work across the street) since I was unfamiliar with the Costco-​Avis thing going on, and man, the guy working the front desk was EXTREMELY rude.
I walked in, and there were no customers except for two people on the line. That’s fine, I patiently waited… but the rep there had me wait even longer while he made a PERSONAL call. One more call came in, and the rep was nothing near polite with that customer. He was throwing attitude left and right with the customer, and was probably at the edge of yelling at the poor customer who only wanted more information.
15 minutes later, it’s finally my turn! Yay! Spoke too soon — asked my questions, and this guy was talking to me like I was a dumbass. I asked him politely to just give me the answers to my questions instead of tacking on all this rude and pointless commentary. His response? He’s busy. Yes, busy making personal calls when there’s an actual customer sitting in the «lobby» area.
Needless to say, I left. I’m not coming back to this Avis. I don’t recommend anyone coming to this Avis. If you really really really need to rent a car, go to a different Avis, or better yet, Enterprise.

These guys are willing to work with you (upgrade/​switching cars) if you need to at the last minute, but it just takes a little patience.
It’s a small lot, so I suggest making an RSVP first!

extremely good avis! i had a problem with a rental and they drove out to see what was wrong (free of charge). turned out to be user error (haha!). extremely friendly, really pleasant to work with. :) highest recommendation!

ALERT ALERT: DO NOT GO TO THIS AVIS… GO ANYWHERE BUT THIS AVIS… THE LADY CHRISTINA IS VERY RUDE AND CURT — do not go to this avis. they will rip you off. i was due to return the car at 10:30 and i returned it at 11:10. because they are so desparate for business they charged be 47.50 for the late feee.
i am never coming back to avis again. the entire lot/​location was completely full and it wasn’t like they were that strapped for business. i filed a formal complaint to corporate… but guessing how big corporations go, they may not even care… we will see.

I had a very basic car rental return experience at this Avis location. I returned a one-​way rental here and it was very quick and efficient. The Avis computer system’s were down all over the country when I arrived, which worried me that it might take a while to return the rental, but this was not the case. Service was friendly and the rental agent took care of us as swiftly as possible, explaining that the systems were down and that she would email me the receipt once the system was back up and running. True to her promise, I received an email an hour later and everything was tallied correctly so I was happy. I’d have no qualms using them again, just wish they had a better parking situation, since I was forced to park on the street.

After going to all of the local car rentals in the immediate area around Arcadia, I now only go to this Avis.
Every time I go in to pick up a rental car, I’m greeted with a warm welcome by the staff. Paul is a good guy and always provides the best service with a smile.
I’ve been coming here for around 2 years now and I’ve rented maybe 5 to 6 cars. The cars are always nice, clean and new. Some of my favorites were the Ford Flex and the Ford Edge.
Do yourself a favor and stop messing around with those other places where the employees are all kids with spiked hair, wear too much cologne and call you Dogg.

I book the reservation on web site. found out the coupon that give 25% off. but only for mid size car which is much more expensive than compact car. I book it and thought I could get discount. I want to add the loss damage option when I get there. on the web site it is 9 dollar a day. but the lady on the counter told me it its 15 .what a liar. don’t want to argue with her. And the coupon doesn’t give 25% off. do I am ending up paying way more than I expect. but I need the car turret same day. and they told me all the compact car is booked. I have no choice but paying the rip off price. don’t go there… don’t go there…

This has been my go-​to place for the past few years, since it is merely a few blocks away from where I live. I have recommended quite a few friends and assiciates too, even tho this place only rent our crappy Korean cars.
This place apparently has stoped «Trying Harder.» I dropped off a car today and since I was in a hurry to get back, I asked if I could get a ride back. The drive is no more than 5 minutes at the most. The woman at the counter said I didn’t have a «reservarion» for that, and therefore would have to wait at least half an hour until they finish washing the cars. WTF!@#
I know they probably don’t need me as a customer, so I’m not gonna worry about them either. Hertz here I come, and if you’re reading this review wondering if this place is worth checking out, forget about it. They stopped being good a long time ago.

We don’t know if the insolent man behind the counter was the owner or the bee worker but he was rude, argumentative and rushed … we were the sole clients at the time and it was still 2 hours before closing time. We were not sure what his problem was regardless his poor attitude was unacceptable. We feel strongly he needs to find another line of business or work if he thinks his appalling attitude is somehow incredible appealing! Spare you time, energy and spend your hard earned money on other car rental companies. We certainly hope that not all of AVIS branches are having this level of pitiful customer relation. However, STAY AWAY … no, RUN … RUN FAR AWAY from THIS franchise!!! Admittedly, the location’s interior looked tidy and well organized so one star rating for that. Besides Unilocal does not offer ‘no star’ option.

After breakfast, I hopped in my rental, set the GPS and started off. Then my GPS unit died.
Shit.
After panicking for a good ten minutes, plugging and re-​plugging in the GPS, I concluded that the GPS really did bite the dust. Luckily, my phone had Google Maps, so I used that to find this AVIS location. Thank goodness for modern technology; I wasn’t totally flying blind.
Paul troubleshooted my bum GPS and we discovered that the power connector mysteriously broke off in the cigarette lighter. I filed an incident report with AVIS (took about 10 minutes), and received a replacement GPS unit. It was an older model GPS, but I was happy to have one at all.
Thanks to Paul’s quick reasoning skills and solid service, I didn’t waste much time, and was on my way in no time flat. No complaints here!
