Our cozy shop is open daily except for Sunday and offers take-​out items for lunch and dinner. We make soups, salads, sandwiches, dinner entrées, and desserts from scratch daily. Thin-​crust pizza is available Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

An Aptos local gem, I’ve been coming here for years. Perfect place to grab a quick bite to go – limited seating indoors but plenty outside near the Coffee Roasting Company. Their lentil and quinoa salads are life-​changing and they have delicious pizza! A very small, high quality café.

Yum. One of my favorite places to grab lunch. The food is so good. I have ordered salads, sandwiches, desserts. The lemonade is soo good, homemade meyer lemonade just like grandma used to make. Love it here.

I absolutely love Carried Away! I am addicted to their Quinoa salad and my son inhaled the coleslaw. They have great local wines and all of their desserts are excellent. Thank you Tom for providing the community with excellent food.

Overall good food.
The veges weren’t overcooked, and reasonable servings. Not enough portions for a second meal though, given the price of each meal (would have made the meat and vege portions larger). Nice to see rainbow chard used. Great for gluten free but not good for non-​dairy (they use a lot of cheese in everything).
Not anything particularly memorable about the flavors of the main course or side dishes. Too much sugar in the desserts (cookies and a cake) but they had interesting flavors.

Carried Away recently catered our outdoor wedding in Santa Cruz. Tran and her team were solid from the get go and were patient and accommodating with a number of interesting requests: only one drinking glass per person (to save water), separate compost and recycling, serving homemade cookies and ice cream, etc. They source local organic produce and put together a fantastically delicious menu. Tran was attentive, easily accessible throughout the process and in general a pleasure to work with.

Last summer (2013) I had contacted catering companies in the Santa Cruz area to cater a service for a family member. I was not having much luck, as the service was to be held on a Monday, and was for a small group. A couple of caterers mentioned «Carried Away» to me. I contacted this business and the staff immediately set up a wonderful and reasonably priced menu for me. The staff were very sweet. On the day of the service, I picked up the food, which was subsequently thoroughly enjoyed by all. I don’t live in the area, but when I return I will certainly come by for lunch.

I love everything I get here! So much amaze for one little kitchen! I’m sure you bring happiness and joy to many people with what you have to offer them. Always there are diverse and equally enticing entrees to chose from as well as many yummy sides, drinks and desserts. I’m addicted to this food, it’s so well prepared and delicious. The prices are great for such quality. Love!

I recently used Carried Away’s catering service for an outdoor party for 50. Tran and Tom were very helpful in assisting me in ordering a well rounded, and very delicious spread for our guests. I got a lot of rave reviews from our friends and family who enjoyed it! We picked up the food, did not have caterers at the party, but Tran gave us thorough written instructions about how to serve everything. I highly recommend them!

This is a great lunch spot in Aptos. They always have a choice of a few unique sandwiches which I usually get. The fried chicken sandwich is amazing as well as the battered fish sandwiches with their homemade tartar sauce. The service is usually friendly and fast. I would give them 5 stars but I think they need to step up their side dish game a little bit. 13.99 a pound for a chicken salad with bell peppers? That’s a little too steep for an simple dish. Overall though, they are great and I keep coming back to this spot for lunch!

went back the other day for a takeaway sandwich and was not impressed. was dry in some places and in others gooey. not consistant and a little hard to get down. I think its best at this place to eat there :)

This place is great if you are vacationing in the area and don’t want to cook, but you would like to eat your meal in.
I had the Grilled Chicken Breast w/​roasted grapes & potato-​bacon gratin, Potato-​Artichoke Gratin and Greek Salad. The chicken was NOT over cooked even after reheating.
It seemed a little expensive for take out, but worth the price when you consider no menu planning, grocery shopping, no mess to clean up!
The staff was friendly and did not mind answering questions.

Consistently good food. I come here mostly for their lunches: always a yummy gourmet pizza by the the slice, great soups and stews and sandwiches that are a step above the usual. Like my bacon, arugula, and heirloom tomato on francese. The chefs trained at Chez Panisse and it shows. You can «carry away» pre-​made dinners, choice if 3 per day. Many locals don’t even know this spot. It has a cult following.

I used to organize lunches and dinners for meetings at work and I always counted on Carried Away to cater such events. Great and competent staff, awesome presentation, mouth watering sandwiches and out of this world dishes with fresh (organic) ingredients. Decent prices, kind employees and the ability to accommodate my last minute, every changing requests is what kept me coming back over and over again.

I love carried away. Every time I visit Aptos I will definitely stop by this place to see what new fresh creation is on the menu. Everything I have tried from here has been fresh and made to perfection. Even their pre-​made sandwiches are still very fresh. I’ve had a few times where you could tell they weren’t busy enough to make more food to put in their display case, so they are sometimes out of what I normally order, like the yellowtail tuna sandwich. But that is their only downfall I’ve seen.

This is THE BEST lunch place in Aptos. Let me list the reasons why:
1. They use fresh, local ingredients=highest quality
2. It is incredibly reasonable. Wild mushrooms and locally caught seafood lunch including a drink for well under $ 15!!! And I often spend under $ 10 here for equally glamorous offerings.
3. The menu changes, and everything is always good.
4. The staff is very friendly, and they seem to love what they’re doing.
5. It’s quick and easy.
