I don’t even want to give this office one star, where did customer service go? whenever I call my lawyers office I feel I should be treated with respect. the little phone girls are very rude and disrespectful to paying clients. Somebody needs to let them know clients get them a pay check. I don’t like getting hung up on at 11:55 in hopes I don’t call back till 12:00 when there answering machines for lunch come on…

I have known Tom Pegnim and Lisa Ivancich for over 15 years. They are one of the law firms who have made regular appearances, representing injured workers in court proceedings at the Oakland District Office of the Division of Workers’ Compensation. They also helped as pro tem judges back in 2002 and I had the good fortune as a secretary to work closely with not only them but also 40 other pro tem judges at the Appeals Board. Although Mr. Pegnim could be a curmudgeon at times and a bit short on patience, I’m gracious and polite, treat him with respect and somehow get him to smile. Both Tom and Lisa did a fine job serving the workers’ comp community; and to wit, Lisa almost became a workers’ comp judge and my immediate boss back in ²⁰⁰⁵⁄₂₀₀₆. I have never had any problems with their support staff. When they needed my assistance (telephone calls and inquiries), I answered their questions and did not hesitate to take care of the business with not only their law firm but numerous others. To this date, the law firm and the support staff still do top knotch work and it is always a pleasure seeing Tom and Lisa at some of the swearing in ceremonies of attorneys becoming workers’ compensation judges.
Thus, in support of Alisa A, she is right that they are an «amazing group of people».
Also, upon perusing the 10 filtered reviews of Pegnim & Ivancich, LLP, and it should be noted, I do not know any of the people who gave those four/​five star reviews. However, I do concur, and am in total agreement, with their opinions and reviews of this law firm.
On a further note, just remember in any situation, especially in the judicial forum and/​or legal setting, there are always two sides to a matter, an issue, a story, etc. I find it rather unfortunate that the staff at Unilocal only consider reviews in a subjective way without keeping an independent and open mind, and without being objective. In other words, being fair minded is somewhat lacking on Unilocal’s part.
In my opinion, their course of action in filtering reviews is not only a disservice to the many people who utilize the website for information, but also a disservice to the Pegnim & Ivancich Law Firm.

I had used this law firm and will never go to them again. Mr Pegnim was highly unprofessional with us. He barely took añu history or details, hardly ever answered phone calls or emails and employed the most uninformed and disrespectful staff ever.
To this day, I am confused as to what I made and what Mr Pegnim kept. Given how hard he was to deal with and provided no transparency in his dealings with me, at some point I simply stopped calling him.
At one point my husband and I considered going to the Bar and wrote a last email to him to see if he would communicate with us. He was so condescending and seemed to care so little whether we did or not that we just stopped getting in touch with him. I am not sure what happened at the end.
It is hard to believe that this kind of person is allowed to practice — he had told me years ago that he was about to retire !
