County East Mall

It’s very very sad how poor this mall has become. nothing to offer at all. if it was still how it was YEAARRS ago i would give it a 5 star but its not they hardly have any choices of food or have any good places to shop i don’t even feel safe in that mall anymore. Its become ghetto! and whats up with the Gottchalks building?! it’s literally been vacant for more then i can remember can’t they put something nice there? THIS PLACE NEEDS HELP ASAP. i see it just getting worse not getting better. I seriously used to go here all the time as a kid my parents and i would go shopping here almost every weekend now nope not anymore.

This mall USED to be a place to go to. I have many fond memories going here as a kid, playing in the arcades and eating nachos at Orange Julius. Fun Fact: It used to have large working water fountain! That was pretty cool.
Now it has nothing and… well, is pretty much abandoned. Yeah, there are a few stores like Forever 21 and Macy’s but it’s nothing you can’t find at the Sunvalley Mall (which has more options by the way). Plus, it’s pretty ghetto and sketchy here. Leaves you feeling gross and unsafe. Once I drove my mom here to go to Macy’s, parked, and saw some kids in the car across us doing each other in broad daylight. There are also some sketchy-​lookin’ people who like to hang around the entrance as well.
There’s pretty much nothing to do, nothing to buy and nothing to eat around here. Literally no reason to go here unless you’re incredibly desperate or don’t care at all.

It sucks that this place is so dead now full of crappy stores I remember growing up this was the mall to go. This mall desperately needs investors!

It is seriously so ghetto, I hate coming in.
There’s not a lot of decent stores, and hardly any food choices. They’ve brought in a few different things, like Cinnabon but it didn’t last.
Stay away whenever there’s a shoe release, people are crazy. Fights, yelling and chaos. The stores don’t know how to handle it.
I avoid coming here unless I need something and don’t have time to go to the concord mall.

I’ve been to worse malls, but this one’s pretty bad… They have a few good stores. But you can’t walk through it without something ignorant happening…

Not the best shopping mall. It’s small but has the stores I like (forever 21, Victoria secret and bath and body works) other than that, there are better malls like sunvalley in concord.

The mall is extremely empty… not just the stores, but there are not patrons either. It’s really weird, almost like a ghost town. I struggle with understanding how many of the stores are still open. I really hope it comes back around and gets busy again.

how does this place stay open? i really dont know. they have a forever 21, charlette rouse, wet seal, and macys. i guess it used to be poppin back in the day but now there are so many vacant stores and it just feels empty. i used to love it when i was a preteen but they had that really good chinese place and that cookie place that had the best rice cripsy treats that were drissled with white and milk chocolate. now its all bad… all bad. just go to sunnyvalley

I am going to mainly grade this based on the years it was actually known as County East Mall. Some who may have not been here for too long may not know that it was actually an outdoor mall for some time before they converted it into a closed mall. It was very airy and open and felt like the Willows (before they modernized it and took away the English Phonebooth.)
When I was about 8 or so, (which was around 1990) they converted it into a closed mall. Most of the shops were filled up and the opening day, the place was packed. They had Kay Bee Toys, A & W Hot Dogs, Clothestime, B. Dalton Bookstores, and added a new anchor department store called Gottschalks.
Over the years, anchor stores have moved out, some new ones have been brought in. At the opening of Macy’s (where JCPenney used to be) a few years ago, they decided to revitalize the mall by renaming it to Somersville Town Centre. Unfortunately, the economy has hurt this mall and it has less stores than ever. The closing of two of it’s major anchor stores has ultimately made this mall feel like a shadow of it’s former self. I still go here, though, just because it’s less crowded than Sunvalley and can be walked through pretty quickly. I have a lot of memories dated back here, so sometimes it’s just fun to walk around for old time’s sake.
It may not be as big or as nice as Sunvalley or Stoneridge, but it has it’s own qualities. It’s not as ghetto as some say. Just park at Macy’s — avoid the main entrance (where Sbarro is) that’s where the kids seem to hang out the most.

it’s called pittsburg with no «H» because we have no haters, with that being said, if you don’t like our mall then you can take your capitol «H» HATIN’ as*es the hell outta that mall! Ya’ll claim to hate it, but yet we see your as*ess back there the next week! haters… what would this world do without you! HAHAHAHA

I have been in Antioch for ten years now. So, when I first came to the mall it did appear to be ghetto. It was very dark and dreary looking. There are only a few stores there. Macy’s and Forever 21 has been added and the Mall has been remodeled and no longer appears to be dark and dreary. One good think I like about it is the Orange Julius stand. They have the best nachos, chili dogs and drinks you can find in Antioch. That stand has been there for more than 10 years. If it goes then the Mall will not be good for nothing. Some people I notice in there reviews believe its a scary mall and thugs hang out here. I fail to agree with that. I come here now and then to the Orange Julius stand and I’ve never seen thugs handing out here. What time do the thugs get here.

This «mall» is weak.
Once you make it through the up and coming thug life folks that perch in front of every entrance you find yourself smack dab in the middle of nothing.
A bunch of your typical kiosks and no mall would be complete without someone offering to upgrade my phone service or straighten my hair. PASS.
The only saving grace this mall has to offer is the new Macy’s/MAC counter.
They’ve changed the name to enhance the identity of this place but its going to take more than that to make me want to shop here. UGH.

I’ve been going to this mall ever since I was a kid; when there used to be an arcade next to the mall entrance of Macy’s, when there wasn’t even a Macy’s and it was JC Penny’s (then a funiture or whatever store) before rennovations. There are new stores, but it’s just an alright place to do some quick clothes shopping.
Not really many places to eat other than Sbarro, but there’s some places to eat across the street, to the left of Kaiser.
Really? It’s ghetto? I could never define what ghettoness is, but maybe it’s because I’ve gotten used to the environment =P. I don’t feel like I’m in any harm, if that’s what you mean.
I remember there used to be a card store and a chinese restaraunt at the entrance of the mall. Times have changed. The buffet outside by the new Marshall’s and 24 hours is alright, and it’s pretty cheap around lunchtime.
Anyway, my dad and little brother go here every weekend. Usually it’s for my brother to eat Sbarro pizza and go to game stop. I usually check out Hot Topic. There’s a kewl picture place where my friends and I have taken pictures for proms and such.
My mom & aunties go here also, for clothes shopping and such (for those of you who think it’s not safe? lol.).
The place seems empty on weekdays (duh) and on weekends its not too crowded.
I give it four stars for memories and for staying alive /​being an alright place to chill.

This place was pretty depressing to walk around in. It was a little before 7 pm on a Saturday, and all of the stores were already closed. There wasn’t much of a selection in the department stores. The racks looked picked-​over and somewhat bare, and the whole place felt abandoned. I guess if I ever decide to kill myself I could just come here and do it in complete privacy at the smoothie stand.

I like this mall because everyone THINKS it’s ghetto and thus do not go there anymore.
Attention people who think they are «too good» for this mall: put your stroller back in your SUV and drive out to fucking Brentwood because I don’t want you ruining my otherwise pleasant shopping experience at County East. THANKS.

Wear your bulletproof vest if you venture to this mall… This mall now resembles the Hilltop Mall in Richmond and the stores aren’t even half as good. Chances are the store you went to last time will now be out of business or they will be moving to a new location for no reason at all. The stores in this mall carry half the merchandise of the stores in Concord or Pleasnton so just make the trip to one of those malls. The crowd is ghetto and thuggish… not a family friendly atmosphere. I come to this mall only because the MAC counter is located next to the door and I can be in and out in a matter of 10 minutes.

You will find your typical mall stores here (Mervyns, Sears, Macy’s.) The mall itself always has a few stores closed down, and has appeared run down at times.
It’s convenient if you live near by, but don’t drive out of your way to go here.
