I’ve been coming here for years for inspections, but started coming for repairs too for the last couple years. William is super nice, prices are very reasonable, and I can usually get any issue fixed the same day. It is so nice to have a mechanic you can trust.

I was super disappointed in Ravensworth Auto Service. They just cost me $ 218 for 2 weeks of a rental car.
I have been coming here for the State Inspection for about 10 years. And have done a few repairs here as well. The last 3 years, I have had issues with my windows. William knows who I am and knows my car. I never use the windows, so they aren’t a necessity for me, which I have told him. 3 years ago, William failed my car due to the driver window getting stuck down. My car is a 2001 BMW. I had William fix the window for a few $hundred and have it pass inspection. Last year, again, the car was failed due to the driver window. It got stuck down again. I felt like the previous years repair should have fixed the problem. William had it at the shop for a couple days this time. He said I needed a new window computer and to check w/​the dealer. Dealer never got back to me. However, the car passed inspection somehow, so was not a problem to me.
This year, I knew there would be issues and the car likely would not pass. I planned on getting a new car. My inspection was due in Feb, so got it inspected on Feb 29 to be within the law. I haven’t used the windows in a year. I have had no problems. I figured I could drive my car for 2 weeks while looking for a new car. I told William, remember the window has issues. Don’t get the window stuck down. It will probably fail inspection and I plan on getting a new car. He said thanks for telling me that. So I thought he understood the situation.
What does he proceed to do? He puts the window down, fails the car, and the window is stuck down. He can’t get it back up. I said I told you don’t get the window stuck down. Now what? It was up when I came here? He had no solution. Couldn’t get it back up. And said if I want to get the window fixed, it would pass inspection. The car is not worth much more than the repairs would cost me. So not worth it. And I had planned on looking for a new car.
Now I have had to rent a car for 2 weeks while looking for a new car. I had to put my car in my friend’s garage since the window is stuck down. I can’t drive it like that when it was 34 degrees and snowing. Nor could I leave it at work or at home in the parking lot with the window down.
Geez. Not sure I will come back to this shop. It has cost me too much time, money, hassle, and inconvenience for something that shouldn’t have been an issue. I told him don’t get the window stuck down. And now have to pay $ 218 renting a car instead of driving my own car that I have had for 10 years :-(
Very disappointed. And feeling a bit ripped off.

We have been going to Ravensworth Service for 2 years for inspection, emissions, and oil changes. On this most recent visit they changed my front brake pads quickly and for an extremely reasonable price. Staff are always friendly and I am relieved to have a mechanic that I can trust to provide quality and reliable service.

Called first to see if they can fix my power window and asked around how much and he told me he couldnt tell me unless i bring in the car. Came in and told the guy that the regulator cable snapped. He called some other guy and gave him my car info including my vin# and told me thats why i needed to bring my car in cuz he needed the vin. Told me it would be $ 400 and i was shocked cuz that seemed a lot considering i had just looked online beforehand and the part was around $ 50 – 100 which is what i told him and he replied saying that just the part is $ 250 and that included the motor. I went to advanced auto parts and bought the motor plus regulator for around $ 80 after taxes. (The most expensive one i saw at advanced auto parts was $ 150) Went home and fixed it myself, for free.
Im not sure if other places will quote the same price cuz honestly i didnt bother to call other places after that ridiculous $ 400 quote but i mean he honestly didnt need my vin# at all, and he specifically told me $ 250 just for the part which meant labor would be $ 150. Granted, it did take me about an hr and half to do it myself but it was my first time doing it and had to look it up on youtube but come on, $ 400? Im sure for professionals it would only take about half an hr, if that.
Yea, i doubt i will be coming back here to ask for auto repairs ever again. He also told me i would have better luck going to the junkyard.
2 stars only because again, maybe thats how places normally charge around here but highly doubt that.

These guys are great! We had just taken my car to PepBoys down the road for a supposed tire issue, and came away with a quote for $ 2,000 worth of repairs. I was doubtful, and went to Ravensworth Service for a second opinion. The mechanic immediately jumped in the car and did a test drive, and then took us into the garage with him to explain what was wrong (and yes, it WAS just a simple tire problem — not the extensive repairs that PepBoys tried to convince me to do.) Fast, efficient, and friendly — we will definitely come here for our FIRST and only opinion next time!

Took my Subaru there after another mechanic couldn’t figure out the clunking noise when I was driving. These guys figured it out in about 10 seconds. It was just a ball joint. Dave worked on my car and he did a great job. Able to do the service same day too. Finally, I found MY mechanic!!!

Super nice, honest, and very fast service.
Really appreciate that they actually really try to give you the best price possible and not try to over charge like many auto shops do.
They’re also very knowledgeable and will be very straight up with you about what your car needs.
Will be coming back here for many years to come!

I advice everyone not to go there! They aren’t honest and will try to rip you off by all means! Also they treat customers very rude! Ravensworth Auto Service (William Hwang) doesn’t care about anything other than just making money!

What a gem!
They are fair, fast and honest which is hard to find in the auto service industry!
We have taken multiple vehicles to the shop and they don’t charge if they don’t have to. They also give cheap safe suggestions that are much appreciated!
Recently had my Jeep serviced to look at my front struts. Mr tire quoted near 800 for both front struts replaced. Ravensworth service said only one needed to be replaced and it was around 300 $. My Jeep drives great and the savings are amazing!

This place is such a welcome upgrade from most other service stations. I have a Saab that can’t be repaired from time to time, and they have extensive experience with Saab — parts and installation. Very quick service — on the spot most of the time. And very honest about alternatives to getting a repair.

Twice is once too many.…
If you want to be treated rudely and yelled at — go to Bill Hwang at Ravensworth Service. He obviously wasn’t taught ‘good bedside manners’ when telling the patient what the car needs.. . don’t expect a mild mannered soul to deliver the consequences in a sugar-​coated way.. .instead, deal with him and the facts or move on. Nobody needs to be abrasive, curt or impolite, especially when dealing with new, potential clients.
There are plenty of nice folks to patronize.

Super friendly auto repair shop. I had broken down and was towed to Ravensworth where I met William. Quite possible the only honest repair shop in the area! I will absolutely be coming back. Not only was the price fair, he called me and walked me through the other issues that the last repair shop failed to do. Knowing a bit about cars myself I knew that he was being truthful and fair.

Been to this auto service since 2010 for oil changes, car check ups and inspections. They are very fast and don’t try to overcharge you for any unnecessary extra work. Owner is also very funny and friendly.

Do not trust. Will lie to your face. Also, price for gas shown on signage not what is charged at the pump.

AWSOME place. I had my 99 prelude SH inspected for safety and emissions and i was in and out probably setting the fastest in and out inspection wait record. Friendliest customer service I’ve received from an auto care center in a very long time I plan to go back the end of the month to get my oil change and a tune-​up. I highly recommend them.
