Working with Katherine from Pot + Box for our wedding was absolutely perfect! We were planning our wedding from out of town, but Katherine made all of the planning with flowers/​decorations seamless for us. We started by visiting the studio, which was great for starting to form ideas about what we wanted. We really had very little direction/​vision to start, and Katherine was very helpful in drawing us out and getting us to articulate ideas that she later brought to life very beautifully. She was also very generous with her time on the phone, reviewing inspiration pictures I had sent and striking a nice balance between getting me to make decisions and making suggestions herself, since she has a great knowledge of and passion for flowers and design. Everything day-​of was also perfect — some of the set-​up logistics on our end were complicated, and she was very accommodating and flexible — she went above and beyond. The flowers all turned out beautifully, and we rented some other décor pieces from her that were great. Thank you!

I couldn’t have been happier with my experience with Lisa from Pot & Box for my wedding. I had very little vision or ideas beyond wanting hydrangeas and every single thing Lisa created was better than I imagined. I got such rave reviews about my flowers from two of my mothers friends and couldn’t be prouder.
Throughout, Lisa was incredible to deal with but stand out moments were:
1) Providing such a thoughtful consultation during a time period where every wedding vendor I dealt with was so difficult.
2) Giving great thought to the tiniest of details — including making a «more grown up» flower crown for the one flower girl who was a bit older than the others.
3) Suggesting ways to get more for my money — including working all of the bridesmaid bouquets into the head table florals. They looked perfect and just made me so happy.
4) Pushing it completely over the top, the day before the wedding, I realized that I had two little boys listed as banner boys (they were too young to be ring bearers so they were supposed to carry a banner that read «Here Comes the Bride»). Except… I had no banner. I contacted Lisa on Friday afternoon and she produced the most beautiful and perfect banner the next day.
The wedding planning process is unfortunately full of people focused on mark ups or on just appeasing bridezillas and not on experts giving amazing advice and service. Pot & Box does exactly the opposite.

The owner contacted me and apparently there was a family emergency they were dealing with. This happens to all if us. I’m resubmitting this as she did get back to me. Although I did not order through them negative review be gone !!!

I called Katherine at Pot & Box for flowers for my rehearsal dinner and wedding. She was so amazing — spent lots of time on the phone with me looking at examples of things I liked or didn’t like, and was really sweet about trying to get everything together for me at the last minute. The flowers themselves — both the rehearsal dinner arrangements and the bouquet — were absolutely stunning. I called back the next week to order more flowers to thank our wedding caterer… and I wish I lived in Ann Arbor, because I would definitely be a regular Pot & Box customer. Absolutely the best experience with a florist I have EVER had. Highly recommend.

I had a last minute wedding that needed flowers and such and Lisa was so incredibly fun to work with. The flowers were PERFECT beyond my wildest wedding dreams. Everything I have ordered from Pot and Box has been so meticulously put together and special.

I just had an amazing experience with Kathryn at Pot and Box. I called from Boston to have a plant delivered to a friend who has just moved to Ann Arbor. Not only will they deliver the plant, but offered to go to other places to buy just the right pot and the right size plant. WOW!

Pot and Box is not just a unique business concept but they also deliver top notch quality service and creativity. We send some of our customers an appreciation gift and they went way above and beyond with their creations and free delivery service. I can only recommend them highly to anyone who likes to support local grassroot businesses.

Pot & Box is a wonderful flower/​garden shop just a block from Main Street in Ann Arbor. If you need flowers for a special occasion their selection is stunning and the quality is outstanding. I haven’t personally ordered from them for a special occasion but I’ve been to a few events where I’ve admired the arrangements. «Where are the flowers from?» I ask. «Pot & Box.» I’m answered. No surprise there!
What I love most about Pot & Box are their air plants. I’ve seen their little terrariums and air plants hanging from delicate glass baubles at stores like Nest in Detroit and I’m always in awe. So beautifully designed!
They also offer container gardening services and help you put some greenery together. As something of a brown thumb (a fact that hurts my heart since I love plants) I’m looking forward to visiting and asking their advice on how to spruce up my new yard in the spring. They can pretty much plant in anything and work with any space so if you’re a home owner or an apartment dweller it’s worth a visit if you want to earthen your place up. They can help you design something really amazing.
I just read that they’re planning on opening a second location in Detroit in Corktown and I’m thrilled. I’m happy to see them expand and take their greenery eastwardly to Detroit. It’s going to be a lot more beautiful and refreshing out there once they open!

I never write reviews but now I can’t say that anymore as I am definitely writing this one! I cold-​called a few florists (I’m in California) and either I was rushed on the phone or calling in the morning the earliest the flowers would be delivered was the next day! I loved the name Pot and Box so tried there next hoping I would feel the love and help I so desperately needed. I received that BIG TIME from Lisa and I believe the other helpful person I spoke to was Rachel (I should have written this review sooner). Anyway, in discussing wanting something different and not just a bunch of flowers stuck in a vase, an asian-​flair design was born. If a cell phone picture sent to me looked ever so beautiful than you know the real thing was even better. I HIGHLY recommend this florist if you want inspiration, helpfulness, patience and they even designed and got the flowers to their destination in less than two hours! I could go on and on but I was so pleased!!!

When my partner and I decided to get married I soon realized wedding planning was not my favorite pastime. My brother and I decided to grow the flowers for the reception, but I knew I would want a florist to make the bouquet and corsages/​boutonneires.
When looking for vendors I was commited to utilizing small local businesses and working with people I felt comfortable around. I had a friend tell me about Lisa at Pot & Box, so I made an appointment. When I went to see Lisa, I was immediately at ease. Her shop is quaint, her dog is adorable and she offered us tea.
Talking flowers, I know what I like and more importantly what I don’t like, but I’m no florist. Lisa has style, she knows what in season at what time and she knows how to make things beautiful. She asked all the right questions, did a lot of listening. I appreciated that Lisa didn’t try to influence what I wanted, she offered helpful ideas but it was obvious from the beginning that she wanted me be happy.
When it came to the day of the wedding, when I saw the bouquet I was amazed! It had been months since I had my meeting with Lisa, I had forgotten some of the detail of our conversation. The flowers were perfect, I couldn’t imagine anything better. All the components I wanted were included: cotton, pussy willows, ivory flowers, bells of ireland, and a natural twine tying it all together. The thing that I was most impressed with was the shape. I was so delighted with how the flowers were arranged, I was nervous about having a round bouquet that was symmetrical and boring. It was gorgeous and so were the boutonneires and corsages!
The whole experience was lovely from working with Lisa to the final product. I have since told my new husband that if there is every an occasion where he wants to get me flowers they MUST be from Pot & Box.

Lisa seems to be an absolute genius with flower, plants, and really, all sorts of organic materials. My now-​husband and I are people with very particular tastes, but everything we had seen of Lisa’s we loved, so we had total trust in her judgment when it came to our wedding flowers.
This worked out wonderfully for us. We didn’t fret much about getting overly elaborate or specific. We just picked some general colors and looked through an idea book, and then Lisa skillfully took it from there for corsages, my bouquet, blossoms on the tables, and a few larger arrangements.
When I mentioned that I liked a mixture of textures (and even liked some bouquets that featured feathers), Lisa took that to heart. When I got my bundle of flowers the day of the ceremony, they were simply, elegantly wrapped in ribbon… a gathering of classic-​but-​not-​cliché roses in yellow and red popping against a white floral and feather background. I couldn’t have dreamed up anything better myself, and that is just the point. Lisa knows just what works. She’s the expert.
I wish that I was back in the event planning business, putting together galas and such, just so that I could have even more frequent opportunities to support Pot & Box and see Lisa’s creativity in action. For now, I’ll just be happy to pop into her shop a bit more often and hopefully order from her whenever I can find a special enough occasion to warrant it.
Please, forget FTD or chain flower delivery. If you really care about what you’re giving to someone or putting on display, Pot & Box is your place.

We hired Lisa to do the flowers for our wedding on July 4^th in the Arboretum and at the Gandy Dancer. We needed someone to build us a chuppah, and Lisa enthusiastically agreed to take on the task. She immediately got what we were looking for, and I had a sense that she would be able to integrate her own sense of creativity and innovation with meeting our needs. We live out-​of-​state, so most of our communication with Lisa was through email. She was great about giving suggestions and prompt with her responses to questions. I really appreciated that she wasn’t just some «flower-​shop owner» who does wedding after wedding. She treated us as if we were special and I knew that she would do a great job. The chuppah turned out to be amazing. She used white birch, decorated with fabric we had chosen and beautiful pink and white flowers. Our guests kept complimenting its beauty and we could not have been happier with how it turned out. The reception flowers and bouquet were just perfect as well. Lisa’s service was outstanding. It was a pretty hot day to be outside setting up the chuppah but she was so flexible about everything even when we asked her to move it after she had spent much putting it together prior to the ceremony. In conclusion, I would say that Lisa at Pot and Box is the florist that you must use around Ann Arbor. And, especially, if you are looking for a chuppah. She will do an amazing job!

A POT ABOVE THE REST
When you walk into this former Ann Arbor Art Studio space, you leave the cold, cruel world behind and enter an organic garden paradise. Not only is LIsa Waud, proprietor, warm and inviting, but her hot teas and earthy display of flowers welcomes you in from the whispering Winter wind.
You can tell that pot & box is ’”a pot above the rest” by covering a niche not filled by some of the long-​standing florists in downtown. While their offerings are great, Lisa’s flowers have that glow of untouched, organic, bliss, that makes you feel like they’ve been plucked straight out of the ground for you.
SELECTION & QUALITY
Upon entering, to your left, is a daily variety of the freshest flowers– offerings you won’t find most places, bordering on the classic to wild-​flower-​like offerings. The difference is that the quality stands out right away. The petals are superb, the colors magnificent. They really pop. You feel an energetic quality to these flowers, as if still alive in the ground.
Her flowers are self described (at the website) as «…features organic, veriflora-​certified, and fair trade flowers from responsible farms». Uhm, we LOVE that! Yes, stuff not doused with chemicals– yeye! She also will make arrangements to order of course, just stop by, give her a call, email or visit the web site.
FREE PARKING NEAR DOWNTOWN– REALLY?
Yes, right off of Main Street in Ann Arbor, take a turn to Felch and you’ll see them on the right. Little chalk boards point the way to beckon you into the free parking lot where this florist is the first door in the brick building space (that I mentioned was once the Ann Arbor Art Studio on Felch).
MORE THAN FLOWERS?
It seems that the history of its artistic space hasn’t fallen away, as there is a ‘studio’ space that can hold events at the floral shop. The moment I saw it, art shows and cool events rang bells in my mind. Lisa mentioned that she has an extension of her shop at Everyday Wines (in Kerrytown Market) and who knows what possibilities might spring from that. Wine tastings anyone? oooh.
THE FINAL CUT
Anyway, I live down the street, this location just opened a few days ago (literally) and I wanted to check it out. All I can say is that if you want something different, earthy, responsible to the environment and to park for free while you check it out, please do. I highly recommend this new branching out of pot & box. If you’ve seen them in Kerrytown, then be sure to go a few blocks down to Felch and stop in. Uhm, but don’t come knock on my door for anything; I’ll just hand you some cat food. (points to self– cat lady)
