Delux Shade Co was owned by John Parks and located on the 2nd floor of a building in the 200 block of S Main St. In 1942, Lawrence Blunk sold his home in Livonia and moved back into his boyhood home with his father and used the proceeds of the house sale to buy into the shade business with John. In 1942 they rented a store on 4th Ave and moved the business there. In the early fifties they added fabrics and drapery hardware, they changed the name to Delux Drapery and Shade Co. Lawrence’s son, Marvin joined the business in 1964. Marvin’s wife Katie joined the business in 1975. Lawrence retired in 1978. Steve took over when Marvin retired in 2000.
