The Toast Café was opened in 1954 in downtown Anderson, Indiana and has been in the same family for over 30 years.

My wife (Leandrea) and I have been in business in Anderson for 29 years. Our first business was Jack’s Vacuum, a retail vacuum cleaner sales and service business. We sold that business and bought the Toast Café in 2007. (The Toast Café had been in our family for more than 20 years).

We decided to stop in for a quick breakfast. Not impressed. The waitress didn’t put my entire order in. We told them we were in a hurry. Felt like she slowed her pace. What food I did receive wasn’t edible by my standards. My partner never even received a to go box. Very disappointing.

If you like the classic small town American diner this place is worth the trip! I love breakfast anytime and the Toast does it up right. The omelettes are large and fluffy with an extraordinary amount of fillings and cheese. The hash browns were perfectly crisp without being over done and the flat top toasted english muffin is a nice touch.
Go for the food, but be prepared for the best customer service you will get all day.

Classic American diner! Not the fanciest place around, but that’s kind of the point. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Pretty sure I was the only guest whose name they didn’t know.
Being a brunch place, I had to order breakfast for lunch! My meal did not disappoint. the Breakfast Manhattan is only $ 6.95 and includes 2 biscuits, 2 eggs, 2 biscuit size sausage patties and hash browns… all covered in sausage gravy. Delicious and huge serving. More than your money’s worth.
I’ve been working in Anderson for almost 2 years. It’s a shame I had not tried this place until now. I’ll definitely be back.

I had a little time to kill before a meeting and this place looked cool. It is an old school diner with a lot of history in a small town.
The Good:
–It was packed at 11:30 on a Wednesday. Locals must love it and that means something.
–The service was friendly. Not slow but not fast.
–The breakfast I had was delicious and huge. The menu said omelets were the specialty so I tried one. Sausage and cheese.
The Bad:
— I love old school dive diners but this place needs updated and cleaned up. There was an unpleasant smell that actually made it hard for me to enjoy my food. The bathroom was in the middle of the dining room and had paper thin doors. The carpet really needs to be replaced.

The food, specifically breakfast, was very good. Waffles were light, yet crispy, the omelet was big. I recommend the place. I would have given it a 5 star if the service was faster (as opposed to really, really show).

Great place! it’s a step back in time with old fashioned service, prices, and food. I hear the Thursday night ham and beans are one of their specialties. I was packed on the Thursday evening when I went there, and most folks seemed to be enjoying that dish. Good find!

My husband has fond memories of going to the Toast with his Grandfather. We have fond memories of going there with each other. They have the best biscuits and gravy! I usually don’t like biscutsvand gravy but YOU HAVE to try them, at least a half order. It is a great place to go anytime

I seen this place had great reviews on Unilocal so I decided to try it one morning and I can see why. The breakfast is really good here. I am a regular now! Every thing is cooked perfectly. The waitresses are always making sure you are taken care of and always make sure you have a full cup of coffee. It can be really packed and that slows things down a little bit. That is to be expected. Never had a bad experience yet.

Friendly Service. Great Price and the Best Breakfast in Anderson. a Serving of Bacon is five strips of real bacon. not like the type that use at a «Hop». for dinner a Beef Manhattan will give you enough for lunch the next day.

Making this place non-​smoking was a HUGE improvement (since Madison County – and the STATE, for that matter – isn’t civilized enough to enact any kind of decent non-​smoking laws). The food hasn’t changed, and is still good – haven’t tried the lunch offerings yet, but I love their breakfasts, especially the omelettes.
The «Toast Parking Only» sign in the parking lot next door is the accidental-​humour icing on the cake.

I had a good time and I’ll definitely be back. However, the service needs some work, but that’s it really. My food was good, just took a little while. Probably because I ordered lunch during breakfast. Which made it 10 times more satisfying when it sat in my stomach. mmmmmm. Tasty.
Take your friends, Trust me, the price is just right and the food is pretty good.
4 out of 5. one star off for speed of service.
