Thai Delight Restaurant

I have had their food twice in the last month. Each time the food was excellent. I have ordered delivery and had food at the restaurant. The service at the restaurant was fantastic and the food was just as good. I feel they really excel at their delivery services. The portions are more than enough, well worth the money, and the delivery is very fast. They really pay attention to the details. Usually when I order fried food from another restaurant the food comes soggy from being in the container. That is not the case here. They take the time to cut vents into the to go boxes with fried food in them. Everything I have ordered has been very good and I would highly recommend eating here.

Best Thai food I’ve had to date in Anchorage. Customer service was outstanding. Flavor was very good and the menu was quite extensive and customizable to fit the patrons liking. Update: I’ve now been to this restaurant 4 times in the past 3 weeks and I can now report that the flavor is consistently good and this place is still the best Thai food in Anchorage. I would highly recommend the ‘fresh roll’ as an appetizer.

So, looks can be deceiving… the place is part of a strip mall, next to a laundromat and a liquor store…
The décor and furniture are 1960’s cafeteria, the service is decent. If the waiter used a pen and pad, he would do much better. But, the reason for going to a restaurant, the food, was very good.
Started with the Fresh Rolls, very good. Main course of Drunken Noodles with chicken. It has decent kick. Spicy Fried Rice with chicken at a 1.5 of hot, and you feel a touch with the first bite, and still feel it 20 minutes later. Very tasty fried rice, maybe a little dry.
Overall, the food was very good! I will be back the next time I am wanting Thai…

I got their fresh rolls. While they were good, they mostly consisted of lettuce. There was not much chicken or shrimp in them, which was a little disappointing. I wasn’t bummed about the lack of noodles because personally, I like my fresh rolls without them, but someone who loves the noodles may not like how little is in these ones.
The pad see ew was good. The sauce was spot on, and not too salty. I like how tender the noodles were! But again, not enough chicken. The splattering of broccoli was a nice touch.
I was disappointed by how small the lunch special was. For $ 10 (one entrée) or $ 12 (two entrée), the special was very limited compared to other Thai restaurants. The meal only came with your chosen entrée from a list of two options, rice and a spring roll. There was no mention on soup and salad to accompany the meal.
The quality of food was decent and the service was attentive. I’m not sure how I feel about Thai Delight, but I’ll let you know soon.

I’ve eaten here a few times and it has never failed me. The fried chicken dish is amazing! Drunken noodles are delish and the spicy chicken wings are so so good. The service is really great. They are super friendly and the food came out in a decent time. It’s a hole in the wall, but you have to try it.

No secret that I love Thai food! Most of my reviews are for Thai. I discovered a new place quite by accident. I just happened to look right and there it was! On the corner of Arctic and 36^th Ave, at the end of a small strip mall, in a small space is a new Thai restaurant called Thai Delight. They have been there for about 5 months. I saw the sign and pulled in.
This location has been a couple of restaraunts over the years and I hope they will have a long time tennant with Thai D. Its small, but as they say, some of the best places are the hidden ones. It is bright and welcoming. Half of my enjoyment in eating out is the customer service and they are spot on. The other half is a good tom yum and I was not disappointed. I love a red broth with a heat between mild and med. They, thankfully have an attention to customer preference and have a 1.5 level that was perfect for my taste buds! Many places dont have that and I either have to take my chances with medium or go mild and add more– but this was perfect. I love a crunchy fresh spring roll and was also happy with them. Lots of peanuts. :)
While I was there, the staff were testing out a super spicey larb on the server Sam. What a guy! They gave him 20 mins to eat it with NO water until he was done. He did it with eyes watering and compliments to the chef the whole time– and got a well deserved thai tea at the end! I believe they are testing a plate for a heat contest and I hope they DO develope it. I got to meet the chefs while Sam tortured himself eating a level 8 larb and they were very pleasant. Although I have my limit at 1.5, 8 – 10 is something I would take my spicy loving friends in to try! Who knew? Dinner AND a show! Lol
I will be going back to try the Pineapple Curry I saw on the menu. Their prices are right at what you wld expect and the atmosphere obviously was wonderful. I would definitely give this new place a high recommendation for authentic Thai food.

Went there for lunch around 1pm and I was the only one there. But Looks like a popular delivery restaurant. I ordered the thai basil fried rice and wasn’t impressed. The quality of the chicken, quality of the rice, the vegetables. Everything was just okay. The chilli paste was too spicy and lacked flavor. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Food was ok (let down that I was charged for extra rice, that’s a first ever in a Thai restaurant for me). Service is pleasant. They say on the menu that you get 5% off if you pay cash, I didn’t get it so be sure to ask.

My coworkers and I had some delivery from here. We ordered the fried taro, which is good. The fried banana, which is good. The fried spring rolls, those were awesome and the size of egg rolls, not oily at all :-) I got the beef pad Thai which isn’t on the menu but they made it for me anyway which was nice. The beef pad Thai was awesome also I was very happy and they didn’t forget the extra lime wedges that I requested which other places in town would always forget. My boss got the drunken noodles, he wasn’t a fan, he said it seemed like they forgot the oyster sauce or something, oh well, better him than me LOL, my dish was awesome. My other coworker got the pineapple fried rice with chicken in it, I tried some of it, that was awesome! My other coworker got the garlic pepper beef, she gobbled it up before I could take a decent photo, so it must have been good. When I called the woman that answered was very nice, super sweet, it was nice experiencing something like that, you don’t see much of that nowadays! We ordered around 11:45am, our large order arrived around 1pm, not a single spring roll was soggy. This was our first time ordering from here, 01/​21/​2016, I will definitely be ordering from here again, great job Thai Delight! Keep it up

almost didn’t go in given the location and size, bur I also know the small hole in the wall places can be awesome. this place was great. will be visiting for lunch more often for sure.

Well, the pad se ewe was like oatmeal… not sure what happened there. Actually, I think they just overlooked the rice noodles. It’s easy to do since they’re made of rice. Those large flat rice noodles can be quite finicky to work with at times. The special won ton soup however was very good. Fresh cilantro and other crisp, yes crisp veggies :). Good flavor…
I’m self-​admittedly hyper critical of pad se ewe. So… its your call America if/​when you choose to stop by. I went rouge, through my jeans on over my PJs and decided to head back out to find a different meal. I opted to grab a «Tom’s Burger»…and bamo! Pretty solid.

First time being here, and have to say it was just Ok for me. We had fried tofu, fried spring rolls, spicy beef and peppers, and shrimp pad thai. Having eaten authentic thai food for many years I have to say this was a bit disappointing. The tofu was good, as were the spring rolls. The beef and peppers was good… they use hot basil here instead of just regular Thai basil so that was a nice twist as that is more like «real thai» but the meat just was a bit on the dry side and just tasted like a cheap cut. The pad thai was way too wet. Real Pad Thai is relatively dry with the chili pepper, bean sprouts, sugar and lime, as a mix in. This one was just wet, and mushy, had tofu in it, and no sugar or chili pepper to mix in.
Service was very good! Polite! and very attentive, and friendly! Although it was very cold outside and the restaurant itself was quite chilly inside. The waitress kept the hot green tea coming for us though, and they were very good about paying attention, but not so much that they were annoying. They allowed us to have quite a long conversation and didn’t bring the check until we requested it, at which point they had it ready to go. I would eat here again, and give it a second try, but I think I would try some other dishes for sure.

After seeing so many positive Unilocal reviews, we decided to give this place a whirl. I’m glad we did.
As per usual, we got the food to go. The person who waited on us was very friendly and willing to make adjustments to the order. I almost always ask for some wacky-​ass adjustment to something lol.
We got a couple orders of Pad Thai, fresh spring rolls, and an order of fried Taro. A Unilocal check-​in while we were there yielded a free thai iced tea for me as well. Everything was very good!
Ratings:
Pad Thai with Pork: Great texture and flavor. We asked for extra toppings and they were very generous with us about it. I don’t like it when the noodles are too moist or there is too much sauce, but I also don’t like them too dry either. These were a happy medium between saucy and dry. Spice level was appropriate to the level I had asked for. The person working there warned me previously that their medium was quite spicy so I heeded his advice. Good thing I did. I only ended up eating about a third of this though because I stuffed my face on the fresh rolls beforehand. My husband happily finished the rest, though. ⁹⁄₁₀
Fresh Spring rolls: They added cilantro at my request, but they don’t normally put cilantro in them. I have had trouble finding really good fresh rolls up here because everyone seems to use the same sauce to dip them in. These guys had a variation that I liked to the sauce because it was more of a sweet and sour sticky sauce as opposed to the chili sauce most other places use. These got scarfed pretty fast. ⁸⁄₁₀
Fried Taro: Very good. There was a hint of coconut in the breading. Taro is a root vegetable that is ubiquitous to many asian cuisines, and I had never seen it fried up like this before. These reminded me of crab rangoon, but with taro instead of the cream cheese. 8−9÷10
Thai Iced Tea: It’s pretty hard to screw this stuff up. I drank it pretty fast. ⁸⁄₁₀.
Ambiance: Not my ideal. It’s too damn bright inside. I like to eat in a more intimate environment with comfy seats. This place was too utilitarian for my taste. It was very clean, though. ⁵⁄₁₀
Cost: Typical by Anchorage standards. Our order ran about $ 45.
Service: Stuff came out pretty fast. Nice guy. Nothing got messed up on the order so he gets a ⁹⁄₁₀.
We’ll go back again!

We went here for lunch today, since our first option was unexpectedly closed. With all the raving reviews, I had high hopes.
It’s next to a laundry mat, so the inside smells like detergent and dryer sheets. Warning if you have allergies to the perfumes in these, as the smell is strong. But that doesn’t affect my rating.
Service is great. It’s nothing fancy, but again, it’s all about the food for me. I ordered the Pork Panang curry, medium spicy (was warned that medium spicy is really spicy — that’s fine). My husband had the sweet and spicy wings (10) — he was told it would take 20 minutes to cook — also fine.
I don’t think it took a full 20 minutes, which was great. My panang was runny/​watery. Panang is not supposed to be runny — it’s supposed to be a thicker, richer, simmered down curry. In it, it had a total of one (1) thin sliver of red bell pepper. That’s it — no other vegetables to be seen. The pork was the lowest quality meat that I’ve ever had at a Thai restaurant in any state/​country I’ve eaten Thai food. Fatty, gristly — this kind of meat makes me lost my appetite. The spice level was actually not too spicy, and the taste of the curry itself was good, just too watery, and not flavorful enough because of that. Had it simmered down, it would have been a lot better.
Looking at my husband’s wings, I wished they were more appetizing to look at. Also, there were only 8. The menu said 10. Which is ok, but change you menu to reflect how many you will be serving. I liked the flavor of the sauce, but they really needed to fry the wings a second time. They were no crisp enough, and there was unappetizing fat that was apparent when you opened up the wings.
The sticky rice was good.
Very sad that this place didn’t live up to the reviews. I should know better by now.
Next time I want Thai, I’m going back to Thai Orchid.

I’ve only gotten take out from this place (and each time I had the green chicken curry), but the curries were delicious and service was prompt both times!
The first time I ordered, they asked me for spice level, I requested «medium» the person on the phone then kindly warned me that the medium was still quite spicy, I ordered it anyway, and boy it seemed VERY hot to me. I like spicy food, so I was pleased, and I was happy she warned me!
The second time I ordered on the phone, the person didn’t inquire about my spice level and it came just a little spicy which was manageable.
Both times when I ordered, they said the food would be ready in 15 minutes. When I arrived (almost exactly 15 minutes in) my food was waiting for me to take out. This type of curry is my favorite: thin sliced bean sprouts, bell peppers, tender chicken, and lots of basil. I can’t wait to dine in and try other items on the menu.

This place is amazing.
It’s a quiet little place. Very peaceful to eat.
The food service is awesome. The lady that helped us was super friendly. They didn’t take long to bring us our food and it was delicious to eat.
My wife got the Drunken Noodles and I got the Cashew Chicken. Both of these dishes were delicious! I finished my plate of Cashew Chicken in 5 mins and I darn near licked the plate clean. Sooooooo bomb. And the Drunken Noodles were amazing as well. I helped my wife finish that. The plating was beautiful as well.
And their Thai Tea. Needless to say I drank 3 of em’ to myself. DELICIOUS!
DEFINITELY a 5 star place to eat. I will be coming here frequently.

Thai Delight was so great. It was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. The menu is big so you should be able to find something you like. I got the chicken pad Thai (hot) and my boyfriend got the tom yum ghai (hot). They were both delicious. The best we have had in the city so far. We love spicy food and the hot was the perfect amount of spice. Made our nose run a little. They give you the option of regular, medium, hot and thai hot. Definitely try this place out!

Drunken noodles were the best I’ve had! Thai tea was delicious and the corn cakes were a nice surprise! Will definitely return when In town. Thanks Tay, Tum, and Tuey for the great experience!

Best Thai food in Anchorage!
This is the first review I have ever written but I am so excited that I have found a good Thai restaurant I had to write one. I have been searching for a good Thai restaurant since I moved here. The service is amazing and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant always seems very clean and well lit. I like to try a little bit of everything and from the multiple dishes I have tried they have all been great.

Thai Delight… a very appropriate name! The whole experience was a delight.
From the fresh, clean and bright interior to the welcome greeting I received when I walked in the door.
The owner was friendly and patient while I decided on my to go order. Even joked with me when I said there were so many good choices… he said so you can come back and try more!
I decided to go pretty basic with an item I know well so I ordered the Yellow Curry with chicken. It was fantastic, full of flavor and full of yummy perfectly cooked chicken and potatoes. The rice was cooked to perfection and not overly starchy.
To top it all off the curry was served in a wonderfully sealed plastic container so no leaking on the way home.
I also tried the fried wontons which were crispy and great! They gave me two sauces one was a typical sauce and very tasty the other was one the owner made and was trying out and it was so good!!!
Try this place out I do not think you will be disappointed!
