History

Established in 2007.

After much deliberation over the name of the store, ‘the blue marble’ was suggested by my sister. Learning that this is what the astronauts called the earth the first time they saw it from space, it seemed the the perfect moniker for a business that wanted to focus on sustainably sourced, hand made goods. To further confirm the providential nature of our name, we indeed found a small blue marble in the corner of the store on the day we were having the carpets installed, just days before the opening. What a message from the universe! We opened our doors on Friday the 13^th of July 2007. The perfect day to begin our adventure. And a lovely adventure it is!
