I’ve been coming to this Nickys since the 90’s. I’ve always contended they have the best tasting gyros meat as well as gyros sauce. Of all the Greek restaurants I’ve gone to for a Greek chicken dinner, none has made it better than Nickys. So why only 2 stars you say? First off I’m getting to the point where I’m almost done eating out at fast food places because they’re prices seem to be going up on a more frequent basis. Nickys is no exception. I understand suppliers raise their prices therefore the restaurant must raise their prices. But you’re a fast food joint not a dine in restaurant! And of course when the price goes up either quantity and/or quality go down. The last 2 times I’ve gotten their gyros sandwich there was hardly any gyros sauce on the sandwich! To make matters worse, they were skimpy on the meat! The last time I got their Greek chicken dinner they forgot to include my fries that come with the meal. I called and spoke with Chris who said next time I come in they’ll give me a credit for the fries. I also complained to him about the skimpy meat in the gyros sandwich. He said they weigh all the meat on each sandwich to assure consistency. Really! Well weigh enough meat to at least fill the sandwich! Jerk! When I came in the next time for a credit on my fries they just gave me an extra bag of fries. I told her I wanted a credit as I was told, she said the credit is the extra fries. I only needed 1 order of fries, not 2! One last thing, I was never wild about sanitation in that place. On more than one occasion the cashier will go in the kitchen when they are short handed to help out. Really? Of course I never see the cashier bother to wash their hands after handling money and whatnot. From what I’ve noticed the cooks also use the customer bathroom which in order to exit you have to open the door with the knob which I’m not wild about. Oh yeah and their gyros platter(plate) can’t hold the jockstrap of the Nickys on 140th& Cicero. Skimpy meat on their sandwiches and about the same amount in their platter! Once again their Greek chicken is the best but I’m not going to pay $ 11 for a meal that back in the day I used to pay $ 5 for. I’ve officially had my last meal from Nickys on 115th& Pulaski after 25 years as a customer. In this day and age you just can’t start sacrificing quantity as well as quality while at the same time continue to raise your prices and expect to get away with it!

Nickies is my favorite new place to eat. The gyro sandwich was amazing. The service was amazing. A woman and child came in and a worker pulled them aside and asked if they lost a wallet a few weeks ago! Just amazing.

My 3rd time there, first time hotdogs with fries, 2nd time gyros dinner, not bad at all, not sure why so many poor reviews, tonight 20oz BBQ ribs and the whole chicken, with $ 3.00of$ 15.00,only $ 16.00 for a lot of meat. ribs are pretty good, don’t like the chicken much, little bit dry, and the seasoning is not what I think it should be, but it taste ok, not bad.

The gyro platter was very skimpy for the price. I thought it was the same Nicky’s that I’ve been to on Cicero in Crestwood but I must be wrong. I felt the food was pricey for what I received, even though the service was quick, kind and the place was overall fairly clean. The 3 hot dog special was great but the french fries if you can even call them french fries were like a pile of greasy semi-discolored mushy goo like strands lol — I shouldn’t laugh I paid for them! Oh well I know better for next time, I won’t be going back.

I went today and because I have dietary restrictions wanted to order some Gyros meat only. I was going to order the dinner with no pita or tomatoes, etc. since she said that they don’t have cucumbers. I didn’t care if it only came out to a small amount of meat. The girl at the counter said she couldn’t do that. I said even if I paid $ 20 for some meat? I wasn’t worried about price just wanted to not have bread or tomatoes on the plate. She said no. She reluctantly offered to ask management but I told her to forget it. You should focus more on your staff before you advertise to new customers.

Went in to get 50 hotdogs for a ball park game down the street and the girl who was working the cash register was a complete snot, I ask the girl if I could get the 3 hot dog and fries deal minus the fries or charge me for the fries I just don’t want the fries bc I only needed the hot dogs and did not want only some people to have fries and not others so I just didn’t want the french fries and the girls said well you have to take the fries I said can I speak to the manager or the owner and she said yeah sure the owner came out and said I have to take the fries part of the deal is that I don’t want to fucking fries so I went across the Street to demon dogs and got away better dog for cheaper that’s my new place to go for the best hotdogs.

I use to go here ALOT back in high school/college — –but just haven’t gotten around to going here as of late. Went recently and the place still looks the same. It’s a typical looking fast food joint — LOTS of signage for specials and combos, some seating indoors and outdoors. When hubby and I go, we always get the grecian chicken dinner and gyros dinner — these are pretty safe. They both came with fries, greek salad, and pita for the gyros, garlic bread for the chicken. The fries weren’t that exciting — the usual frozen kind — –would be nice if they could kick it up to the fresh cut fries or even yummy oven baked greek potatoes would be a welcome addition. The gyros was pretty standard to what we’ve had elsewhere. The grecian chicken was on the dry side but we were hungry so it was ok once you lathered it into the lemony broth. All in all service was efficient and food was ok.

Decent first visit. Smaller inside, but enough tables to accommodate a lunch rush. No waiter service, so walk on up and place yo order! At first glance, prices seemed a little steep for the market and location. I tried the BBQ Chicken Dinner. Fair, but I have had better for the price, both in the entrée and the sides(Cole slaw and French fries). Dry in certain areas, but overall sweet, savory, and falling off the bone. I question the originality of the sauce, but a lathering of Sweet Baby Ray’s isn’t the worst thing in the world. I’ll certainly stop back in and try something else, in hopes the«Real McCoy» lives up to its name.

If you’re into premium dog food then this is the place to be. I’ve eaten here a couples times and always ended up disappointed. There’s not really much of a menu so you would think the selections this place has would atleast be AVERAGE quality. Nope, not a chance. I give this place 2 stars because you shouldn’t expect much from a fast food joint anyways.

this place is not associated with any of the good nicks or nickys, the food sucks & the cook asked me after bringing my Italian beef back, what should a Italian beef taste like? how sad.

The Big Baby double cheeseburger was soggy(bun too soft and greasy} French fries ok but frozen. The deal breaker was they want to charge you for water at soda prices. Also we ate there but opened the bag and found 1 napkin for two people. We won’t be back, a waste of money.

So I ventured into Nicky’s to grab some hot dogs. The place has been here for at least 10 years. They have another location at 57th& Kedzie. Anyway, the dogs are usually pretty cheap and the fries are good. I ordered a #10 which consists of three dogs and a large fry. The dogs were ordered«plain.» I also ordered a second #10. The dogs in this order were to be «no onion.» In the meantime, Jabba the Hut comes in with a bag of food that was apparently recently purchased. Jabba proceeds to the counter and complains that the order was wrong. The counter girl tries to fix the order but then tells Jabba that they need another buck and some change.(Hey, you guys screwed up the order. The changes should be comped. Nonetheless, this wasn’t my business. I just wanted my hot dogs and fries.) I did take notice of the fact that the counter girl removed a bag of fries from Jabba’s order and placed them back on the«food waiting to be served» counter. That’s right! She took food that left the store, was likely fondled by Jabba, and brought back with the intention of giving it to another customer. Great. Real classy. Methinks that good health practices require that any food that is brought back be deposited into the garbage. I digress. Eventually, Jabba got his correct order and left. In the meantime, I kept watch on the returned fries knowing that there would be hell to pay if she tried to pawn them off on me. As it turned out, she placed the«dirty/used/returned» fries into another customer’s bag who seemingly did not mind and left the store. Some ten minutes later, my order was bagged and I left. So what did I find upon my arrival home? Three hot dogs with pickles only and three hot dogs with onions only. Really? You screwed up an order so simple? It’s not the guys in back making the dogs that messed up. It’s the useless counter girl’s fault who punched in «pickle» rather than«plain» and«onion» rather than«no onion.» Needless to say, I was not impressed. So I leave it to fellow Unilocalers: If you want screwed up orders and risk the potential of eating returned food… enjoy.

As said typical burger joint. They have everything I had the double cheeseburger and no complaints. I have tried many different items on the menu and all have been good. Place is clean and gets a decent lunch crowd. Nice eating area with some TVs. One of the better choices close by for lunch.

I only had their Gyros plate, and it is very good(portion is HUGE). There are certain foods you can’t get unless you are in Chicago(or the city suburb) like: Gyros, Italian beef, Polish sausage, deep dish pizza, chicago style burrito. and for Gyros, you can’t go wrong at Nicky’s.

This Nicky’s used to be @ 5something? & Pulaski. And for the people here, that’s actually important. In the country’s most segregated city, exactly where something used to be located is REALLY important. Almost more important than the food. Really??! Because without the white flight nostalgia, it’s just a pizza puff /gyros/grease spoon spot with decent prices & a great refill policy for delicious fountain drinks. I liked the fried mushrooms. They were good. Cops eat here. They are usually a good food barometer. I’d only come back here if other joints were closed.

Your typical Chicago beefs and dogs and junk food shit counter, but with a nice place to sit, a TV and crawling with off-duty cops. They emphasize the«Real McCoy» part in their title because there are about a kabillion similar restaurants in the area also called Nicky’s Somethingoranother. The gyros platter will feed like three people pretty decent food for about $ 7, but the Italian beef is mediocre. The rest of the menu keeps going back and forth between decent and mediocre. I like that the gyro sauce is more cucumbery than garlicky. Their special distinction is a boneless rib sandwich with pickles and onions, kinda like a McRib. Or so I’ve heard…
