What is Project Walk Atlanta?
Project Walk Atlanta is the next step beyond acute care. They are an internationally recognized non-profit organization that exists to provide an improved quality of life for individuals living with a Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Transverse Myelitis and other neurological conditions. The activity based recovery program at Project Walk Atlanta is designed not just for recovery through exercise, but encompasses other important factors such as Brain Plasticity, Nutrition and Metabolic Support. Project Walk Atlanta is committed to offering their clients the opportunity to push themselves beyond the expectations of standardized medical care.
The Program–
The activity based therapy protocols are individually tailored to each client to increase the probability of independence, as well as restoring their hopes and dreams that were once lost. Their program integrates the latest advancements in technology. Project Walk Atlanta focuses on re-establishing motor pathways and strengthening existing signals instead of utilizing compensatory strategies to accomplish a task.
The Theory–
The theory behind activity based therapy is to activate the neuromuscular system in order to retrain the central nervous system to recover function of a specific motor task. Weight-bearing exercises and motor skills training helps to decrease spasticity and ignite the neural patterns that can eventually lead to voluntary motor control. It draws on the central nervo

Established in 2012.
Project Walk Atlanta was founded to provide a long term recovery initiative towards Spinal Cord Injuries. Our program utilizes research supported techniques to regenerate the nervous system. We are 501©3 local non profits. The motto we have inscribed on our hearts is: «Project Walk Atlanta… it’s personal.»
