I’ve been going here for a long time now and you get a consistent haircut 99% of the time. There is only one Barber now — Tom. He is a friendly guy who likes to chitchat. Let me go over the process; shampoo before and after haircut plus styling and gel/product(only if you want) all for 15 bucks. This place is cash only plus I usually tip 5 dollars. He is a basic guy, he can’t do all the fancy hairstyles that are in trend now a days but that doesn’t mean you get a bad cut. He does well with male asian hair and I can see why… because the majority of the clients are asian males. There are no appointments, you just have to go in and wait like most barbershops. Usually the wait isn’t too long unless you come in on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The place opens around 12ish and he closes past 9 or until the last customer is addressed. If you come in past 9 and there are guys still there waiting, he won’t turn you away. He works everyday and I’ve seen him there super late some days. You can’t go wrong with Tom

Fast and cheap, the american way. I’ve been going here since I was 12 so these guys(Ted and Tommy) knows me really well. We usually start off by talking about family and work. But it always end up talking about casinos and food. They’re very likeable and easy to talk to. Only bad thing about this place is the hours. They tell me they open at 10, but a few times I go there at 11 and they’re still not open. However, they do open pretty late(until 9) so it’s best to go later in the day.

Fast, inexpensive, dependable, quality. That’s the only way to describe the kind of haircut that you get at Hong Kong Hair Place II. They open until 9pm(and sometimes later), making it really convenient to get a haircut after work or after dinner. I’ve rarely had to wait when walking in(without an appointment) for a haircut(which can be a good or bad thing, I guess) as they have two guys working here. Haircut includes a shampoo before the cut and a rinse after the cut. Great service!

I have been going to HK Hair Place II for as long as I remember, I have rarely gone to any other place. I travel alot, and have at times waitied months until I can return to Boston to see them. Both of the guys are great and friendly, the music is always good, and though all the magazines are in chinese(thats not a bad thing at all) my chinese reading skills are getting better ;) I have clients that run big Salons in Boston, and can go to them for free, but I do not, I am old school that way. Several of my client give great comments on the cuts i get from them, and one can even tell which of them cut my hair, LOL. If your looking for a great place, try them. I know alot of American’s are not used to the hair washing part but seriously try it out its nice and a scalp massage of r a few minutes is always a great strees relaxer.

This is the only place I get my haircut. Sure, there are better places that cost more, but I think this is the perfect balance between quality and price. 20 bucks including tip is what I give. I’m a guy and I’m Asian … pretty much what I believe they specialize in. Give them a shot if you’re looking for a less expensive place. If it turns out well you’ll be saving money for the rest of your time getting a haircut there. If not, just go back to where you’ve been going. Two guys work here. One on the left who is a bit bigger and shorter than the skinny guy on the right. I think the guy on the left is a little bit better but I just go with whomever is free. Conversations are interesting. We usually end up talking about iPhones/technology, traveling, girls, techno/trance(LOL), and gambling.

So I moved to Allston a little bit ago, but because of certain employment issues, I was always able to go to framingham to get my hair cut. Well, now that I have decided to be a productive member of society, I don’t have time to go to F-ham to my haircut. Being that this place was right around the corner and they seem to specialize in Asian hair, I figured I would give it a try. I went in around 7, no one was there, so I jumped right in the chair with no wait, which is always a plus. I gave the guy the general idea of what I was looking for and let him have a little creative leeway. He started cutting my hair into a geometrically square shape. Now I know I’m asian, but I am all set with looking like a FOB straight from the people’s republic. Well at least it wasn’t a bowl cut. I’m one of the few asians who can say I’ve never had one of those. I had him round it out a bit, and it ended up not terrible, but not exactly what I was looking for. To be fair, he did try to change it based on my requests, but he couldn’t get it just right. I think I will try out a few other places(beautiful cuts on harvard seems like it has good reviews) but I would go back here if I cant find one better. Barbers do need to cut your hair a few times to get it right. But as it stands now, I give it a 3. Now let me clarify something the other reviews didn’t. I give it a 3 in the category of asian haircuts.(or should I say haircuts for asians, not to be confused with haircuts by asians.) Not horrible, but hopefully I can find better. I will update this and be sure to let everyone on the edge of their seats know. Oh, and it was $ 17, basically $ 20 w/tip.

I have been going to these guys for a while. Like Chu C. says, its good for Asian guys. They do your haircuts just right. The only thing I have to add to his review is that the guys sometimes open late late because of their habit of going to Foxwoods. They talk about their trips. I have tried to get my hair cut… but if you try to go early… dont bet on it. afternoons are best bet.

The biggest problem I have faced with finding a barber in the Boston area is finding one who knows how to deal with thick, stubborn Asian hair. Lots of reputable places out there, but few of them know what to do with Asian hair short of some crew cut or Forrest Gump-like fuzz. Hong Kong Hair Place II is about as bad a salon as the name suggests, but I have been a faithful customer there for almost 12 years because they do have a niche: haircuts for Asian guys. The place is manned by two Chinese barbers, Tom(guy on the left chair) and Ted(guy on the right chair). I think Ted is slightly more talented than Tom, but both work swiftly and do a solid, consistent job. They also do non-Asian hair, so don’t be scared off by that. I’ve even seen a woman or two over the years. For $ 17, you get a wash, cut, wash, blowdry and style. You’re ready to go in a few minutes, with minimal hair shedding afterwards. Hard to beat that. Look, the place is not for everyone. If you are into nice facilities and in style«hair product», you should avoid this place. On the other hand, if you are a young Asian male and want a fast, reliable cut, I’d totally recommend it. Pluses: The place is open late. Real late for a barbershop, like 9PM. And open weekends. And holidays. Tom and Ted are there seriously ALLTHETIME. They get like two vacation days a year. Minuses: They claim to open at 11AM(or is it 12PM?) but I have often gone there to find it closed until after 1PM. A lot of neighborhood people go there, and at times, the queue can get pretty long.
