Flint Cleaners

My husband and I have been going to Flint for a couple of years now. He loves it and is constantly dropping off his button down shirts there, and they are cleaned at a reasonable price (usually between $ 4.50-$ 7 per shirt). However, while I think they do a nice job, their prices are a little high for women’s clothing, especially jackets and sweaters. I recently brought a suit jacket and a cardigan there and was charged $ 12 and $ 14.75, respectively. I was kind of shocked that my cardigan cost more to clean than the jacket, but I guess that’s on me this time.
For the most part, the service is friendly. If you need something quickly, they’re pretty good about getting it done. All in all, not a bad little shop.

They lost two pieces of clothing of mine and were extremely rude when I went back to enquire about it. I had used them several times before and while the pricing is expensive (she even over charged me by $ 10 once), it is convenient to my apartment. However, this last time the laundry came back missing a dress and a sweater that I know were in the basket I dropped off. She was super rude and implied that I probably just misplaced them in my apartment. How would I misplace an entire dress and sweater! When I asked her to check, she refused. I then asked if she would call me if they turned up and she said no because she didn’t have them. Bad business on her part. Won’t go back.

Ok, they’re not going to great you with a smile but they are going to get stains out of expensive white dresses that you thought would haunt you forever. They were able to let out the waist of tuxedo pants for my boyfriend in less than one day. They are expensive but they don’t have much competition in the area. The regular dry cleaning services are fine, everything is clean and fresh but sometimes I notice that my clothes are still covered in my dog’s hair when I get them back. If another dry cleaner opens up as a result of the new construction /​development across the street with lower prices, I would try them for cleaning but stick with Flint for stains and alterations. The do have a tiny parking lot that fits 2 – 3 cars and they don’t take AmEx!

This is my local dry cleaners but today was my first visit and I’ll NEVER be back. Brought in a dress that needed some very quick and simple mending (hem at the back of the dress had come loose, maybe a ten minute job) and the woman behind the counter was incredibly rude: huffing and puffing, rolling her eyes, and seemed to want me to beg for her to do the job. I left after she snorted and asked me «why don’t you just do it yourself??» It’s my favorite dress and I didn’t want to mess it up! I’ve never seen customer service this bad and would never go back, which is a shame because I would have loved a dependable tailor and dry cleaner down the street from my house. I ended up going down the street into Watertown and finding another place, do the same, don’t give this woman your business.

I haven’t gotten alterations here, but I’ve used their dry cleaning service which I found to be decently affordable and reasonably fast. I plan on coming back here to try additional services.

This cleaner does not have much competition in the area (that I know of) which causes prices to be a bit more. They are usually timely, when it is requested. The low rating is because the $/​service cost ratio is too high.

The lady behind the counter was very nasty! I am in class for a month and the weather has been cold. I took my sweaters to be cleaned and she appeared to be making up prices. When i questioned her she became beligerent and started acting crazie. Needless to tell you i didnt leave anything. I believe she needs to be medicated and stop with the racist attitude.

Always timely, and does an AMAZING job with alterations! I will go to no other in Boston.

They do a decent job with the clothes. On the customer service front, there is room for improvement (in terms of cleaning time and in-​store service time) and the prices are high. I go here simply out of convenience because the place is located near me.

My husband and I always have been extremely satisfied with the service at Flint and wholeheartedly recommend it to others. We’ve been going there for years — we mostly bring work pants, shirts and suits there to be cleaned and pressed (occasionally a sweater, coat, dress or scarf), and have sometimes required a quick turn-​around which never has been a problem for them. I’ve had dresses and pants altered there over the years, and they’ve consistently done a first-​rate job. Other reviews mention people have found them pricey, it’s my belief the prices are typical of the area. We’re thankful to be able to rely on their excellent work!

This is going to be my first review on Unilocal.Flint is my regular go to spot for my 30+ shirts as well as dry cleaning for the suits. Definitely a solid mom and pop operation — I have been coming here for the past 4 years. I have had no issues with the shirts or the dry cleaning — that’s saying a lot with all the spills and stains that I have had over the years.
The rates are definitely on the high end, but the location is super convenient for me as I live right around the corner.

Terrible. Do not go there. Used them for 2 years despite their high prices. Last week I brought my Living Room Sofa pillow covers (Dry Clean ONLY). They totally screwed them up, apparently trying to remove stains with another process. I came back to at least get my $ 50.00 back after spending $ 600.00 in new pillowcases. The lady owner refused to give me my money back and wouldn’t listen. She just kept talking and talking.
Never again. Thieves.

I haven’t even picked up my laundry yet but I’m going to write a review, I’m so incensed. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever encountered at a dry cleaners. This is just another thing to add to the list of why I miss San Francisco.
The prices aren’t cheap (I’ll report back on the quality tomorrow) and the people are SO rude. Not a single smile, entirely condescending, poor attitude about answering questions, 100% unfriendly for 100% of the time.

For regular items, such as shirts & non-​special occasion items, these guys do a good job, get things back to you quickly, and are probably the friendliest cleaners I’ve come across.
For your more expensive pieces of clothes, I’d be a little more cautious. while nothing has happened to me, I’ve had a few girlfriends end up with dresses destroyed because of improper care (ie they’ve burned off the sequins on dresses, ruined a special cut/​fold of the fabric).

Basically, I just use Flint because I can walk there without having to cross the river. For a California girl like me, that’s pretty awesome in the winter.
Besides the convenience though, Flint does just fine. A true «mom and pop shop,» they’ve always done a decent job cleaning my clothes and are flexible on timing if you need something quickly. I’ve also had a formal gown taken in there for much less than a tailor would charge.

I used to really, really love Flint, now I just kinda love them.
I take my clothes into them all the time, and they may be a bit pricey, but they do a solid job. Things come back clean, cleaner than I think they were when I bought them. What more could you want in a cleaner? They’re also pretty friendly; when taking some suits in recently to be cleaned, the owner asked if I was interviewing, when I said yes, she gave me a lint roller «just so I’d look extra nice.» That’s caring for your customer.
So, why do I only kinda love them? Well, on one of my recent visits a shirt somehow got destroyed. There is debate over whether it came in with the damage or it was caused there. It wasn’t expensive, but it wasn’t handled the best ever. I’ll still use Flint because they’re good, fast, reliable and close, but I’ll be recommending them with a little less enthusiasm.

I’ve been using Flint for over a year. They do a good job, and and do quick turnaround if needed. Just be clear about when you want something laundered and when you want it dry cleaned (dry cleaning is expensive at most places, and most people don’t realize their shirts are launderable at a considerable discount).

AHHHH! I feel like I’ve been robbed. Again!!! Went here this morning to drop off a wool coat and a down comforter and was shocked into silence at seeing my bill. $ 19 for a wool coat? Is that for real?! Back home in Cali, all our dry cleaning is $ 2.50 and yes, it is a lil out of the ordinary. Even so, I could only imagine that normal dry cleaning in Cali at the most expensive place would only be around $ 5 – 8. And my down comforter? $ 39!!! I think I only paid $ 50 to BUY the comforter. Holy shit.
Is this for real? I’ve been told that that’s cheap and also that’s a rip, so I’m not sure how robbed I’m supposed to feel.
I also agree that Hun, the woman at the counter, could be a liiiiiil friendlier.

One time I went to Flint with an urgent request – can you get me this shirt tomorrow? No problem, since they do the cleaning right there they can provide quick turn around. Another time I went to them with an equally urgent request – I’m in a pinch, do I have any shirts here that I forgot about? A solid yes. They pulled out a shirt of mine that had fell through the cracks a while back; I was was elated. You might call this bad service, I call it cosmic mom and pop intuition. Thanks Flint!

Last time I went to this dry cleaner they gave me free stuff. Classic mom and pop shop where they always smile for customers.
