Every time I’ve come to this salon, I am greeted immediately. I am offered a beverage while I wait for my hairstylist. There is free wifi for guests!
I always go to Sarah Heng. She is at this salon on Mondays and at the Dallas one the rest of the time. I enjoy the scalp massages she gives me and how she asks specific questions about how I want to cut my hair. For a person who can’t articulate exactly how I want my hair done, Sarah always seems to know exactly what I need. Whether it be a trim or taking 6 inches off.
She’s friendly, professional and passionate about her art.

Lauren Phillips is the best at Tangerine Salon! My hair can tend to pull a little brassy when going blonde but she nails it every time! Her cuts are great too! My hair has definitely looked the best it’s ever been and the healthiest! Recently just hired her for my wedding hair and make up as well as bridal party! No complaints! Everyone was glowing and fabulous!

05÷20÷16 — UPDATED REVIEW Aubrey has been in touch with me and has arranged for a refund for my hair disaster as well as a free appointment with one of their most skilled and senior stylists, who at least cleaned it up into something that doesn’t look like two different haircuts. I am very satisfied with how this situation was handled and have made an appointment to return in six weeks.

Wow, it pains me to write this. Normally I see Sara, but as she is moving, I thought I would try a different stylist. I called and requested a same-​day appointment and I was paired with Noelle. I assumed all Tangerine Salon hairdressers were of similar skill level. She was put together, friendly and professional and I had no misgivings about her. I showed her two pictures of the haircut I wanted (A version of a stacked, layered bob), even pointing out that it was similar to her own. I emphasized that I need volume at the crown and the length to be similar to the picture shown. Throughout the appointment, when she would ask how I liked this or that, I would state «As long as there is volume I am happy».
Somehow instead of a nice, stacked and layered bob, I have what I can only describe as a «reverse mullet». I have a pixie cut in the back… so short I can hardly get my fingers in it. It sticks straight out no matter what I do. The front vaguely resembles the picture I showed her, but the whole thing looks like one stylist did the back, another the front. I seriously want to cry every time I look in the mirror. This is just… horrible. So so horrible. I am literally embarrassed to go out in public with this haircut. It will take me two to three years to grow back all that she did. It really is a reverse mullet. It makes me wonder if she personally didn’t like me or something.
I stopped her a few moments after she started cutting, alarmed at how big of chunks were coming off… fix, six inch pieces. She asked to see the picture again and we discussed how I wanted the hair to look… again. I was surprised she didn’t examine it more closely before starting, but what I have always gotten from Sara has been so exceptional, I just assumed Noelle knew what she was doing. Big mistake! I could not see what she was doing in back of course, but she assured me it would look like the picture when it was done. At one point she was struggling with a tendril over my left ear. I should have known in that moment when she asked if I wanted it to stay or go, making it «more bob-​like» if it stayed, or just go to a pixie cut. I was confused, told her I didn’t think my jawline could support a pixie cut and that I didn’t like my hair that short… but still trusting she knew what she was doing. I emphasized I needed volume and to be able to tuck things behind my ears. I can tuck it… but I kid you not, this is a different cut in front than in the back. It is like she spaced completely what I asked her to do for the back of my head and bumbled the front… I cannot get anything like the lift I am used to getting in my hair. Not even with the Aveda products I have at home.
She styled it and curled it and it looked okay from what I could see, just too flat. I assumed I would just need to play with it myself when I got home. However… as I was pulling into my driveway when I got home I realized she NEVER TURNED ME AROUND TO SEE THE BACK. The appointment had taken an hour and a half by then, which was long for a simple haircut and I needed to get home and simply spaced asking her to see it. She kept asking me if I wanted my natural hairline or the bottom shaved… I figured it must just be close at the bottom but nicely stacked up from there… but now I was panicked, realizing i had not seen it and feeling how short it felt just touching it. I raced inside … looked at the back and was stunned. I looked like a baby who had been left on its back too long! Completely flat. No graduation. No stack at all. The back of my hair is DESTROYED. At the crown the layers are so short that if I try to give them volume with mousse they create the look of my hair having been messed by a pillow or like I have cowlicks there. My scalp shows because the layers cannot curl down. They stick straight up or out. They are too short to give lift or volume there unless I want spiked hair. I don’t.
The fact that she purposefully didn’t show me the back tells me she very much knew she screwed this up.
I am at times on TV and filmed for the commercials for where I work. I am horrified and depressed. I have no idea what to do. I guess I can buy a wig if I have to.
The sad thing is that there is no fixing this other than to cut it shorter, which is EXACTLY what I do not want.

I have been visiting Noël for my haircuts and she is absolutely awesome! I have found in the past at other salons that the stylist is great on your first visit, but almost seems to lose interest after that. Noël has been consistently great, and has always given me a cut that I am really happy with, even though I’m not that good at explaining what I’d like done! She is also super nice, and lovely to chat with.
The salon experience overall is one of the best I have found. The lady on reception is always welcoming and helpful, the salon is spacious and clean, and the Aveda products smell amazing. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this salon, and Noël as a stylist!

Have been going to Tangerine salon at Watters Creek for almost 6 years now. The ambience at Tangerine is awesome. Laid back vibe, always smells like eucalyptus & essential oils, and they always have rockin’ tunes on in the evenings. From the time you walk in the door to the time you leave, you are treated like you are their #1 customer. The staff that work the front desk are always upbeat, positive and professional. I had been with the same stylist at Tangerine for close to 5 years until she moved away. Before committing to a new stylist I took it upon myself to color my hair at home. Completely destroyed it! I called Tangerine as it was a hair emergency and told them to put me with someone who would be able to do some serious damage control. They put me in with Lauren and I’ve been with her now for almost a year. She is incredible! An absolute expert at coloring. She knows my hair and she knows exactly what to do with it. My hair color looks natural, feels healthy now and has grown so long in just under a year. I couldn’t recommend any other stylist. Lauren is the bomb!

Kristen T is a miracle worker! I came to her with my poorly colored hair and she gave me beautiful balayage that is now pinterest worthy. I love it! I also love the trim she gave me. I’m one of those people who gets nervous that a stylist will cut too much hair off but Kristen cut the perfect amount and I couldn’t be more happy with how it looks. Kristen has colored and cut my hair twice now and I already have my next appointment with her booked! My hair is important to me and I know that if Kristen works on my hair, I’m going to leave the salon happy :)

I chose to have my hair done at this salon because of the positive reviews on Unilocal.I was scheduled with Arin Akin and I could not have been more satisfied and pleased with my experience. Arin was very professional and sweet from the beginning to the end of my service and I am so happy with how she did my hair. My hair was in dire need of a fun new cut and color and Arin and exceeded my expectations 100%. I had my hair done by the same woman for 14 years and since I moved to DFW I was on the hunt for someone to do my hair the same way if not better and Arin did that for me. I am so glad I found her! I highly recommend her for anyone as she is educated, personable and knows exactly what she is doing. I can’t wait to go back for my next service. :)

I wish I could show you a before picture of my hair before I met Lauren Phillips. I give her so much credit for working with me through bad color, a bad cut and medication induced hair loss. She is so talented with hair, makeup and has a wicked sense of style. More than that she is easy to communicate with, honest and very sweet. I can’t think of a better person to entrust your hair to. Go see her now.

Lauren Phillips at Tangerine Salon is the best! Lauren has been cutting my hair for a few years. She recently joined Tangerine Salon which is a great combination of her amazing talent combined with a gorgeous salon. I have fine and thin hair and it’s tricky to cut. Lauren does an amazing job finding styles that help my hair look thick and full. She has helped me go from long hair to short hair and always recommends styles that are on-​trend but also flattering for me. She also recommends great Aveda products that keep my hair healthy. Tangerine Salon in Allen is in the gorgeous Waters Creek development. The salon is clean and sleek but not stuffy. I feel comfortable but pampered when I go to the salon. My favorite part of the service is the hot towel after the shampoo. So relaxing!

Apprehensively, I tried Tangerine Salon with Amanda after my daughter went there. I had been going to a different stylist for almost 8 years but it was becoming increasingly difficult to get in to see her. Amanda was very receptive and listened intently to how I liked my hair styled. I am very particular about my hair and it takes a lot to trust someone else! Honestly, from the time they take you to have your head massaged/​hair washed in the relaxing atmosphere to the final «reveal»…it was fabulous! I truly feel Amanda is excellent at what she does & my hair feels so much healthier!

I tried Tangerine Salon shortly after moving top pano from North Carolina and I couldn’t be happier. I have seen Amanda multiple times and love her. I’m not the best at explaining what I want for my hair, but she’s understood what I’ve asked for and executed it perfectly. I definitely recommend visiting her!

Mary Le is in McKinney!!! I’m so happy another Unilocal user helped me find her. She’s at salon 209 on Virginia pkwy and still as amazing as ever!

Great atmosphere and experience. Ask for Amanda! She does an amazing job and is very easy going. I’ve gotten my hair cut with her multiple times and wouldn’t go to anyone else now.

Lauren has changed my hair for the better! I had a stylist for over 9 years and wasn’t happy with the color or service and am so happy I found Lauren. I have blonde hair and she is an expert! I have sent several friends and they all swear by her now too. This salon is also very nice and clean!

Amanda is awesome!!! She cut my hair exactly like I wanted and did not do «Her own thing» as others do” it is so hard to find someone who listens to what I want. Call Amanda and you will be pleased!

Amanda at Tangerine is the stylist you must go to. Over a year ago I met her and she has been my stylist ever since! I’ve never trusted anyone with my hair the way I do her, she is very passionate, and very thorough with her work. I’ve only ever left feeling nothing less than glamorous after getting my hair done with her. I’ve had full highlights, ombré, and balayage done with Amanda and she’s amazing. My hair looks so great that I am always asked where I get my hair done and all I can do is say «Amanda at Tangerine, she’s amazing!!» Amanda takes her time, cares about your wants, and will have you leaving the salon with your desires fulfilled! She is so nice and great at her job only wanting the best for her clients! Go see Amanda you will never want to go to anyone else!!!

If you are looking to get your hair done I highly recommend my wife amanda collier. Not only because she is my wife but because she is very humble and compassionate with her work. She is the type of women you can go to see, let your hair down, and truly relax. In the end you will leave feeling beautiful and like you just made a best friend. She is truly a beautiful person, trust me husbands tell all.

This was my first visit: Went to get highlights/​low lights and a trim. When she finished, my hair had been stripped, was lifeless, and almost a third of it was broken off at the scalp. SHE couldn’t even style it!!! She kept putting product after product on it, and she was visibly concerned. The sad thing was that when I called to make my first appt with Tangerine, I told them I needed an experienced stylist who was great with fine hair. No problem they said. So that’s the kind of stylist I thought I was getting. Um no. After the damage was done, I asked her how long she had been with Tangerine (she was obviously inexperienced) and she said about 4 months. I will not be back. It’s unfortunate too because I like Aveda products… but it is too much of a risk. You don’t get what you think you are paying for. Beware.

I went to day for the first time and i was totally impressed. I have never been treated so nice and lije i was the only client. Mary Le is completely the best she is the first person i have ever seen who took the time to explain what would be good for my face and would be good for my hair. I can say my husband who does not like short hair loved it too. I feel so beautiful i’m glad i found this place already have an appointment set up for my next visit

I hate to say it, but.ehh.I’ve had better. Everyone here is friendly, bringing kids isn’t a problem, and Mary Le is sweet, but the end result isn’t worth the price.
