Mr Fixit Fast

Gave this place a call based on the Unilocal reviews. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and wasted over 2 weeks of my time. I had two rather simple repairs to be done in my house.
To begin with, I spoke with Holly the owner. I scheduled an afternoon appointment to have a handyman come out and give a quote. On the day of, he surprised me by showing up just shortly before 9am when I had very little time. He claimed he was told morning… ok, I let it go. He provided a quote which I felt was reasonable and scheduled a repair for the next week. The day of the repair came and there was a downpour. This would affect part of the repair process, so I called and spoke with Holly.
She seemed unaware of what exactly was going on and was unsure if the repair man would be coming or not. This struck me as very strange, but asked if she could find out. How could she not know? In any case, I get a call from the handyman about 2 hours after he was supposed to be there and we agreed to reschedule for the next week. exactly ONE week later.
Here is the reason for this ONE star review: the next week rolls around and it is 9am. when he is supposed to be at my house. Nothing. I wait patiently… all the way until NOON… after noon I had heard nothing and decided to give them a call. Once again, I spoke with Holly who had no idea what was going on. She said she would call the handyman.
About 40 minutes later the handyman calls apologizing claiming he forgot that today was my appointment. He said he forgot to write it down the last time we spoke and asked me to call Holly to reschedule. What’s worse? Holly the owner NEVER called me. To this day, I have yet to hear a word from her. Not so much as an apology or anything. Not a peep.
I did a little checking and it seems she contracts repair work out to independent contractors. Whatever the case, there is a serious disconnect between her and the repairmen she contracts with. And to make it worse she doesn’t seem concerned with following through with her clients and making sure they are taken care of.
I repeat: to this day I HAVE NOT heard a single word from Holly the owner about her company standing me up. Very unprofessional.

Holly, Ryan and the rest of the fantastic team at Mr. Fixit Fast are a pleasure to work with. They did a remodel of our Plano ⁴⁄₄ School of Music location recently. It came in on time, on budget and with more communication throughout the process than we have ever received from other contractors we have worked with. Thanks Holly! We are looking forward to working with you on our new McKinney school soon!

3.5 stars. I found Mr Fixit Fast on Unilocal and was impressed by all the reviews so I called to schedule them for an estimate of the drywall work we needed done. I SO wanted them to work out…
I spoke with Yvette, who was really kind, and helpful. She collected my info and said Holly (the owner) would give me a call back to schedule the estimate. Holly called me back same day and the estimate was scheduled for the next day. The gentleman who came for the estimate arrived on time and was extremely professional. He clearly understood what needed to be done for each project we needed. Being the fairly new owners of the home, I wasn’t sure if the previous owners had left some paint behind, so I requested the estimate include the cost if we had the paint, as well as the cost if they needed to provide the paint. He said I’d have an invoice by end of day.
Nine days later I still hadn’t received an invoice, and because I’d initially been impressed by the company, I called to follow up. Holly apologized and said she’d send it over immediately, and she did. However, the invoice was missing almost half the projects we’d discussed and only included the cost if we provided paint. I contacted her back pointing out the missing items, and received another estimate. The second estimate still had missing items. After a couple of emails and five updated estimates later the info still wasn’t correct.
We received five estimates from five different companies for our job and it was coming down to Mr Fixit Fast and another company. We ultimately went with the other company, even though they charged $ 600 more. I really wanted it to work with Mr Fixit Fast, and maybe another time we’ll give them a call and try again, but for this project we didn’t believe the work we needed done would actually get done because the estimates kept leaving them off and the costs kept changing.

I recently used Mr Fixit Fast for the second time, and in both cases the results have been excellent. The first project, done some time ago, was to repair some areas of damaged dry wall in the master bedroom. It required that the area around the damage be sanded and knockdown texture be applied that matched and blended into the original texture. Finally, the paint color had to be matched and the area repainted. While paint color matching is rarely perfect, this match was much better than I had expected and they feathered the paint to well above and below eye level so that it is difficult to detect even if you’re specifically looking for it. I was more than satisfied with the end result.
The second recent project was to repair a stair landing and a triangular stair built on the landing. Both were occasionally squeaking and creating a loud «pop» despite several additional screws having previously been drilled through the tread. Holly brought in a carpenter that ended up cutting out a portion of the tread on the landing and framing some additional support underneath the tread. The task took several hours, but the result is perfect.
Both times Holly has been great to work with. I suspect these projects are much smaller than her average project, but she still took the time to provide a written estimate before any work was done and I felt no pressure to authorize the work once I had the estimate. If you have any home repairs or remodeling to do, I would definitely recommend that you consider using Mr Fixit Fast.

Thankful for this companies great work to remodel our new office! From picking out the cool wood flooring to put on our walls and working overtime through all the rain and weather issues this last month! I’m putting four stars simply because I didn’t end up using Mr Fixitfast’s services — but I want to applaud the owner for her customer service. I was referred to Mr. Fixitfast by a different contractor who wasn’t able to get to my problem quickly enough. It was a minor problem turned emergency by an impending Texas downpour.
The owner of Mr Fixitfast listened to my problem quite patiently, but explained that we were out of her service area. She then proceeded to look up the phone numbers of other who could help, and gave me a referral. That was really kind and helpful. I would certainly recommend her based on her customer service.

When I called I specifically ask for a plumber and electrician for a list of things I need to repair. What the person told me on the phone was that they will send out one person who is a plumber and electrician. It was a little odd so I told her again what my electrical repair is and verified again if that person is both a electrician and plumber, due to the time limit on this I don’t want any delays. She gave me a resounding yes. The next day the person came and called me that he can’t do the electrical work that has been requested, he told me he is only a handy man. So I called back trying to understand why they send the wrong person and the lady on the phone will not answer me other than asking me to authorize the repair for the plumbing and need to give my credit card. Finally when I asked what will she do with the electrical work and the delay she made it sound like I was bothering her and reluctantly said that she will try to find a electrician to repair it Monday but that is a big if and will not know for sure. I have wasted all the time to verify and when I called she doesn’t want to take any responsibility and made it sound like a inconvenience. No thank you, I will find someone else. Very disappointed.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mr. Fix it Fast. Holly is a pro. She is very responsive, meticulous and she aims to please customers. I believe that is a privilege to be serviced by honest and competent people such this company. They are local and customer service is always the best.

Recently we had a slab leak in our foundation. The floor was damp in 3 rooms, so I knew it was going to be extensive. This was overwhelming. I didn’t know where to begin, who to call or what to do. Holly K. with Mr. Fixit Fast was a life saver. She came in and took over the entire process. We needed a plumber, concrete, tile, woodwork and paint. All of her workers were professional and fast. Their work was done the right way and Holly was there often to make sure… Holly was also very detail oriented and has a very good eye for interior design, (I am not detail oriented and I am not up on current style). Holly was willing to help me with narrowing the tile and color choices as well. I would recommend Mr. Fixit Fast for any remodel or repair, large or small.

UPDATE: The owner (Holly) read my review and gave me a call. She was extremely apologetic and even offered to take me out to lunch. Overall I think this company is decent, and my guess is my repair needs just caught her on a bad day. If nothing else, I appreciate that she cared enough to call.

Stay away. Save your money and find another repair service.
The short review is…
this is a woman owned business ran by a lady named Holly. She has relationships with multiple contractors which is how the work gets done. She’s unprofessional, has poor customer service, and is combative. When things fall short of customer expectations, she blames the contractors instead of taking responsibility herself. When you need to get work done, she’s very hard to get a hold of. But when she needs payment, she’s VERY responsive!
For your reading pleasure, I’ve included the long, dramatic play-​by-​play of events below:
1. I called to request a repair of my sink. It was a stainless steel sink under-​mounted to a granite slab. The glue that held the sink in place had loosened and the sink had fallen. I have a soft spot for locally-​owned businesses so based on the Unilocal reviews I called this company to do the repair.
2. the initial conversation went well. Holly (the owner) was polite, informative and responsive. She booked me for an appointment about a week out. The repair would take 2 visits: Day 1 to fix the sink. Day 2 to fix the plumbing. She warranties the work for life.
3. the day of, the guy is a no show. After waiting 30 minutes I call Holly. Her response… «Oh yeah. Umm. Let me check. I’ll call you back.»
4. 10 minutes later I call her again (because she didn’t call back).
Me: Hi, Holly. I’m calling again to check on your guys. Is anyone coming out?
Her: Oh yeah. I talked to him. Apparently one of their guys is sick but they didn’t reschedule. I can have someone out to you in 40 minutes. Is that okay?
Me: Not really but I don’t think I have a choice. Its already an hour after he was supposed to be here. He’ll take another hour to get here and its a 2 hour job. So what should have been done at 10 is now not going to be done until Noon. I hadn’t planned on taking off of work that long.
Her: Soooo… do you want to cancel?
Me: No, I can’t afford to. I’ve been without my sink for a week so I need it repaired.
Her: Soooo… do you want to cancel?
Me: No. Please send the guy.
Her: Okay
5. Guy shows up in 40 minutes and actually finishes the job in an hour
6. Later that day I get a call from the plumber to do the 2^nd part of the repair. He tells me he has another commitment and wants to know if he can reschedule for sometime later that day. (Ugh — really?)
7. Plumber shows up the next day on time (the new rescheduled time), is polite and works fast but comments on how the sink doesn’t look to be installed correctly. I then contact another granite guy for a 2^nd opinion. He comes out and looks at it and also says that the sink was not installed correctly. (note: I didn’t tip off either one).
8. At the end of the job the plumber asks for payment by check. I tell him (a) Holly never mentioned I would need to pay by check (she actually didn’t mention at all how she needed payment) and (b) I wanted to discuss the sink repair before I made payment. He says he understands and leaves.
9. Within 10 minutes of him leaving Holly calls me to discuss my concerns and of course, collect payment. I tell her about the repair and she spends 10 minutes convincing me the other people don’t know what they’re talking about and her sink was done the same way… blah, blah, blah. She then proceeds to go into how she’s so disappointed in the 2 contractors and them needing to reschedule. At the end of the conversation she sends me an email from a page on Home Depot that (in her opinion) supports the repair was done correctly and then says she’ll warranty the work for a year. And of course, to the email she attaches an invoice which, interestingly enough says she’ll warranty the work for 90 days. Since the repair guy left, Holly has contacted me at least 7 times, either by phone, email or text to collect payment. I find that interesting given how hard it was to track her down for an update when I was trying to get my sink repaired.
In the end, I paid her. Fingers crossed this repair will last. If not, I can tell you who I will NOT be calling for repairs.

Mr. Fixit Fast is the first call we make when something needs to be repaired or work done. From tree trimming, window replacement, soffit repair, to concrete work, Holly has always provided an excellent person to complete the job at a reasonable price in a timely manner. She is and will continue to be our «go to» resource to use.

After 3 years in our house, I was SO sick of our outdated kitchen. Hideous checkerboard backsplash, builder grade laminate counters, cooktop with electric coils. We finally got the funds together to do what we wanted to do, but couldn’t afford to go overboard — just needed to paint the cabinets, new backsplash, granite countertops, new appliances. A fairly substantial facelift! And a facelift that leaves a lot of room to get ripped off — we needed someone we could trust. We got 3 estimates — 2 from general contractors, 1 from a dude that does miscellaneous home remodels. One of the GCs was waaaaay out of our price range, the solo guy was the least expensive, and Holly’s estimate came in just barely more than the solo.
And boy was she worth it! Holly was excited about our project from the very beginning and took great care of us.
A little background: I do not have much of an eye (or the patience for) interior design. Nothing makes me more grumpy than looking at 36 shades of white paint, or 185 slabs of stone — all of which kinda look the same to me. We needed some hand holding. We needed a gatekeeper. We needed someone to pick out the 3 best options in our price range and let us pick one. Holly did all of this. When it was time to pick granite, she brought 6 – 8 styles/​chunks of stone to our house, then she went to the granite farm with the granite guy and picked one! Voila! Same with paint and backsplash. She showed up with options, made some recommendations, and we were done. Easy as that. Holly was excited about and invested in our project from day 1. It is obvious that she takes pride in her work and the work of her subcontractors.
The construction itself took only 9 days. Yes, 9 days. We basically have a new kitchen! Holly came when it was all done and took a look. She found some minor issues with the tile that we missed and insisted the tile guy come back and fix it. Talk about one stop shop! Her granite guy, Arnulfo, was fantastic, as well as the painter.
Side note: We had a completely unrelated plumbing issue come up in our backyard in the middle of the kitchen remodel. We called Holly *panicked* on a Sunday night. Not only did she answer, but she made sure her plumber was there first thing Monday morning. He was professional and affordable.
I would highly recommend Holly for any home repair or renovation. I always love supporting a woman-​owned business, especially one with exceptional professionalism and service.

I called to request a few repairs needed on the exterior of my home. They were able to come out the next day to see them. The handyman quoted me prices which were very reasonable so I asked them to do the work. They completed the work the same day and we were very happy with the service. Would recommend to a friend and will use this company again as needed.

I was very impresses reading all the good comments on this company and excited that it was woman owned. The contactor Joseph that was sent to do an estimate seemed to be a good guy. After the initial visit I had to email Holly and ask where my estimate was when 2 weeks had gone by. To my surprise Joseph was no longer with the company as of 9 days prior yet I was never notified. Holly wanted to make things right and personally came out with Ryan and we went over the work I wanted done. She seemed very excited about the project and immediately scheduled Brett to come out to look at floors and countertops I wanted replaced. Another week and a half has gone by with no word so I called her today only to be told she was «afraid» to do the work and didn’t want to do the «mounds» of paperwork requird for doing work on an older home. My house was built in 1956 and work must meet EPA standards. Which I need to mention here that her website states they are «certified» and «qualified» to do! After listening to her «soul searching» she had been doing about the job I finally had to ask point blank «Are you trying to tell me I need to find someone else?» Imagine my shock when she said yes! While her website states she is qualified to work on older homes she does not live up to that and it was very disappointing to find out I was back at square one. If you contact them make sure you ask up front if they will follow through and actually DO THE WORK. Jacked around foe almost two months and that was MY time wasted. Did I mention I was paying CASH?

We used them for odds and ends we had around the house. Frank showed up and was polite, efficient, and knowledgeable. From the start to finish, the experience was truly outstanding. We would definitely use them again. Their pricing is good… You can possibly get the same job done for cheaper elsewhere, but they were well worth the money considering the professionalism and ease of working with them.

Entered my request info on their web page. Holly responded the next day and setup an appointment with Frank on a day of my choosing, complete with arrival time. Frank came out and swapped out an exterior door, installed a screen door, re-​caulked a soap dish, and touched up the enamel chip in the guest bathtub. He did a great job and I would use them again without hesitation.

Called this place and they did a good job identifying our leak problem.
Gabriel our handyman showed up on time at 8:00am and took care of the situation. He went to buy materials and came back. We had to have them fix the flashing on our chimney. It seems to have been installed improperly. He also identified potential problems to fix in the near term and provided explanation for it. He was friendly and helpful.
