Mission Eagle Pointe Apartments

I moved here in August 2006. At the time the place was known as Crest Place Apartments. The management was awesome and the entire complex really did make you feel like family. The friend who referred me to this complex after moved back her after her divorce. After many apartments in college, I thought that was a huge compliment.
In May 2007, I drove into the driveway and the sign had changed. The name was now Mission Eagle Pointe. I actually did a double/​triple take to make sure I knew where I was. After all, my brain is falling out of my head and you never can tell what these neurological drugs I take could do. Yep, I was in the right place. One by one the management disappeared. Mission Eagle’s management changed only another two times before I moved out in August 2008.
In the 9 months I had lived here prior to the takeover, our security gates worked. As in, had never broken one single day in 9 months. Mysteriously, the day after the takeover. the gates were «broken». and it was going go cost a lot of money to fix. Hmmm. 15 months later. The gates are still «broken»… or turned off is more like it.
Instead of spending money on fixing the gate, they spent money on newly painted wooden apartment numbers on our front doors, and «building 2» signs. They painted the railings on the patios. They painted the car ports. All of these cosmetic attempts to camouflage the fact that the place started going down hill quickly. Within 3 months of under new management, only 3 out of 12 apartments in my building were occupied, and this trend affected all the other buildings as well.
Kids were running and screaming up and down the breezeways, many complaints were lodged regarding the hoodlums… only to find out, they were the children of the new management & maintenance crews. In an effort to lower the vacancy ratio in the complex, they started letting just about anybody and their dog move in. I think at one time, there were teenage guys living in the apartment above me. The stairs, physically attached to my living room wall would rattle every time they ran down the stairs like a herd of Tibetan Elephants. My next door neighbor couldn’t leave the house in the mornings without beating her kid until she screamed bloody murder.
I can’t begin to count how many times I was left notices on my door that I owed money. $ 2.10 here, $ 5.37 here for my water bill… that never arrived. I’m not sure how many times I had to explain the logistics of how I pay bills… but this is one thing I wasn’t going to budge on. 1) I legally do not have to pay a penny until I actually receive a bill and 2) all utilities are mandated by law to arrive at least two weeks prior to the due date.
The last two weeks I lived in this complex, I was pretty much a prisoner in my own home. The person who moved into the unit catty-​corner from me, instead of smoking on her patio… or smoking indoors (because you are the only person who wants to smell that shit)… would smoke on the breezeway where the smoke seeped directly into my apartment. It was sickening. I’m sorry… there should be some sort of law where complexes designate smoking vs non-​smoking buildings… it wouldn’t be that damn hard to do.
These are only snippets of how this complex went to hell in a hand basket during the last 15 months I lived there. There were many more, but I just can’t type that much. The only reason I am giving Mission Eagle Pointe 2 stars, is because yesterday, Sept 22, 2008 I received my full $ 400 deposit back… with no deductions for anything.
