First Choice Emergency Room

Was on family vacation to Dallas a while ago and popped in here with my kid who had a persistent fever. Felt silly going in, but we couldn’t get the fever under control in the middle of the night. They were awesome. Everyone made me feel reassured that we made the right decision to come in, and they spent time helping us understand various tests they were going to run. My son was clearly nervous about being poked and prodded, but they made him feel at ease. Dr Hicks was super sweet to my kid (she’s probably a mommy) and we went home with fever down and antibiotics. It was fast, comforting and really helpful. I wish I could remember the nurse’s name… she was awesome too! Highly recommend!

I would give this place a zero if I could. I flew in to Texas for the holidays and right after I landed, I realized my body was covered head to toe in rashes and hives. My family took me to this urgent care center around 11pm on Christmas Eve. The staff was not welcoming at all. I was the only patient there (probably because of the holiday) but I didn’t want to be there as much as they did and being there is their job. The nurse didn’t even say Hi to me when I said Hi to her. She glared at me like I was bothering her night and she didn’t say one word to me while she measured my vitals. The doctor was even worse. Michelle Hicks and her team was on duty that night and she stared at me and told me «Sit down» not even a «Hi». Not only did she give me attitude, she asked me the same questions over and over again like she was half asleep. Maybe I came in when they were all taking a nap but the entire staff was so grumpy. The «doctor» (can’t even call her a dr. because she didn’t even act like one) didn’t even take a look at me. She stood by the door the entire time and crossed her arms while she asked me questions sounding half asleep. She asked me where I flew in from THREE times in 1 minute. (Get YOUR SHIT TOGETHER. WAKE UP. THIS IS YOUR JOB) I told her I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic I had taken and she kept saying it’s not it, not possible, blah blah. Well, Doc, if you did your research and paid attention in school, antibiotic allergies are very common and symptoms include lip swelling, body rashes and hives (exactly what I had). The antibiotic I was on is notorious for allergies and bad reactions. Not once did she even examine me. Horrible doctor, horrible nurses on staff. My family was shocked to see how they treated me and I wish I could’ve recorded the entire thing because I will never recommend Michelle Hicks or her staff to anyone. Do not see her if you choose to go here for an emergency because you could probably get better care by googling your problem. I will make sure to review this doctor on every outlet possible and on blogs because this «dr» should not be in practice. She needs to have her license taken away. Please save yourself the headache and avoid.

Excellent Care! We were into our room before I had the paperwork filled out. Staff were professional, diagnosed appropriately and we were out within an hour. The facility is very nice and well equipped for emergencies.

The ER physician was extremely efficient when it came to my care. The nurse was very attentive. I felt like I was more than just a patient that day, as though they genuinely cared about the outcome of my visit. I was very ill and needed to be transferred to a hospital. The entire process from door to transfer took less than an hour. If I EVER need emergency care, I would choose this place over any local emergency room. Cleaner, faster, better in every way. Many thanks to the staff that took such great care of me that day.

It was a very fast service. Nurse and doctor came in about the same times. Agreed with another reviewer regarding the doctor take a little more time to check it thoroughly. Overall it was a better experience compared to the most ERs.

We loved this facility. My 6 year old daughter had a very scary bug bite on her leg and we took her in on a Saturday night. We were seen right away and they have a very cute child related curtain area with a TV and lots of paintings on the wall. Made my daughter feel very comfortable. This facility was also spotless and the staff were all very attentive and sweet to us. Highly recommended.

Almost 600 $ for a sprained finger. We were in and out in less than 30 min with an X-​ray, a splint that would have been 3.99 at CVS, and a 600 $ invoice. Ridiculous and SO WRONG!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DONT BE RAPED by these stand alone ER’s!

Very well equipt and staffed facility. After my consult I ended up in hospital for 8 days.
I thank them for diagnosing my condition and reacting appropriately.

It was definitely fast. I was called back before I even had a chance to finish the paperwork. Staff and nurses were friendly.
I think the doctor could have been a little more thorough but overall it was a good experience compared to most ERs.

New to the area and needed to get some quick medical attention.
This really was a great experience. Check-​in was very efficient. I was taken back to an exam room to get vitals. Next the nurse came in, Chad, who was very friendly, helpful and professional. Had some x-​rays done, and Steve was great too. The doctor came in for his examination and evaluation. Was in and out in less that 1 hour.
This is what an ER experience should be: efficient and effective.
I would have no reservations bringing my wife or kids to the location.

We were very impressed with the excellent care that I received when we went there recently. We did not have to wait at all and the doctor, nurse and staff were very helpful and friendly. The facility is very clean and modern.
We would highly recommend First Choice Emergency Room in Allen, TX. It was a very positive experience that was much better than going to a traditional hospital emergency room.

I went in on NYE for a pretty extensive injury. The care I received was professional and very thurough. I left feeling cared for and knew what I needed to do for follow up care. I would recommend this facility for any need. The doctor and nurse were very educated and took care of my injuries with extreme care.

My husband got bucked off his horse on a late Sunday afternoon and the last thing I wanted to do was take him to a rural hospital ER. I also didn’t want to spend hours sitting beside little old ladies (no matter how cute) who frequent our local hospital. We drove home (2 hours!!!), and feel truly blessed to have found this place. We got there at 6:30 and were diagnosed, treated and referred by 8. The entire staff was respectful of how much pain he was in… SEVEN broken ribs… They were careful moving him, good at explaining things and answering questions. Nobody ever hopes to need an ER, but what a great resource to have in our community!

I came into the First Choice ER on ¹¹⁄₂₀ in the evening with a serious cough and congestion that was causing me to have difficulty. The entire experience was wonderful and all of the staff were very prompt and friendly. I was in and out in an hour! I would definitely recommend going here with an emergency and in the unfortunate event that one of my family needs to emergency care we will definitely be going here!!!
