Edwards Atlantic Palace Cinemas

There goes $ 3 second run movies… hello over priced films.
Went on fandango to see if ‘Bridesmaids’ was playing at this theatre and I just found out that they’ve closed down.
This was a great place to watch movies. There were never any lines or very much people, which is probably why they closed down.

I felt like going to this theater sometime soon, so I googled what movies it’s showing and I found out that it’s closed. Damn, I know it takes a lot of money to run the place, but I will miss the nights when friends would randomly hit me up and we’ll see new/​trippy movies there.
All the memories… I saw Titanic there back in 98 lol.
All the times toking it up in the parking structure. Memories seeing Bride of Chucky, Quarantine, Knocked Up, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, recently Sucker Punch… now I’ll never go to that spot on Atlantic and Main again, for anything. What can you say?
The theater had a nice big lobby, theater food is always overpriced. The seats were a bit small, you couldn’t even lean back or rest your head on a seat. The restrooms were very clean. But oh well. C’est La Vie. I’m going to miss this place.
It’s ironic that the film industry is so big in LA, at least for right now because it’s moving to Canada and elsewhere, and people here really don’t support theaters/​the arts like they could.

Edwards has been at this corner since before WW2. This theater was built after the original building suffered major damage in the 1987 Whittier earthquake. It opened in May 1991. I enjoyed it in its hey-​day. It became the lesser of the two theaters since the Renaissance was built on Garfield and Main, relegated to showing second-​run flicks. When I saw the «$ 3 for all shows» on the marquee, I knew the end was near. Soon, this buidling will be torn down (the parking lot will stay) and replaced by a County office building.

3 dollar movie: how much can you expect? The place is always packed on the weekends with the teeny-​bopper and high-​school kids – just to warn you. The screens are big, the place is pretty clean.
The major drawback for me are the seats. They are very uncomfortable, and several feel «broken.» You have to just hope you sit on a decent one. But once again for 3 bucks, how much can you complain? Good selection of flicks too. We’ll be coming back for sure!

My best good friend from my Junior High days (Christ Lutheran School is in the HOUSEEEEE!!) Went here last Saturday. Alicia and I had seen the original movie «Arthur» when it first came out when we were teenagers… so I found it fitting that we both go see the remake together well we waited to long — both of our schedules are pretty busy– and we landed HERE at the $ 3.00 movie house because it was out of the main Theaters.
This place is right on the corner of Atlantic and Main parking structure directly behind and it’s free. Plenty of places to get something to eat before or after you catch a movie. Tadaaa! I did my research. Anyhoo we saw «Arthur» mehhh I prefer the Dudley Moore version better (may he rest in peace) so we had a moral dilema did we stay for another movie or bail…
«Your Highness» was playing SO OFF TO THAT we went! That movie was raunchy as HELL! but funny too so it was worth the Double-​Feature.
Restrooms located upstairs and food is standard «movie theater» food faire. After purchasing our ticket there was no one at the door to rip it for us we just walked in (shrugs shoulders… ok) there wasn’t anyone at the top of the area.
All in all you get what you pay for it was fine for a $ 3.00 movie on a rainy Saturday afternoon the place looks like a ghost town and the movies were not ever ¼ filled. I will definately come here again. It was fun! :)

I think its worth it

I came here years ago back when this theater was full price. Fast forward 4 years… this place is cheaper, but isolated, deserted and dirty. I kept my hoodie on throughout the movie theater because I’m always scared of lice. I also checked my seat for bed bugs, which are large enough to see and rumored to live in the chairs of movie theaters!!!
The bathrooms were only upstairs and they were clean enough. We arrived 45 minutes early, but they were accommodating and let us leave and come back– even though they had already torn our ticket stubs.
Would come back again for cheap movies… if i were wearing a hoodie and armed with a flashlight to check for bed bugs!

Arrived at the location around 9:30pm on a Tuesday evening. They have their own parking structure, which is handy. There weren’t any large lines at the ticket counter, seeing as it was about time for the final showings anyway.
This particular old theater presents movies that were out weeks or months ago, so don’t expect to see the latest releases here. The restrooms are on the second floor while everything else are on ground level (including handicap restrooms). A small inconvenience.
No need for matinée hours or whatnot. Tickets are $ 3 all day. Considering that regular theaters continue to inflate prices, and try to sell you with digital and 3D… Glad to see these types of discounted theaters still around.
If you don’t mind entering into an older theater, seeing delayed films, without all the flash and pizazz, then you might find yourself having a great time. If not, there’s the other theater a few blocks from here that may be right up your alley.

You get what you pay for, this place isn’t as grand as the newer theaters out there, but hey it’s only $ 3.
The theater is clean, there’s plenty of parking, and I didn’t have any screaming kids in my movie!
If you don’t mind seeing a movie that’s been out for a while, this is the place to go to save money. Happy movie watching! :)

nostalgia. i remember when this was the new and happening theater in good ol’ alhambra back in high school. :)
but these days, rumor has it that it will shut down in the upcoming months. to that ends, the theater has become a rialto theater of sorts playing big hit movies that are off the big screen … at a $ 3 price.
it works. my friends and i were there to watch «megamind» at 6:50…
there was a HUGE line because all their movies are scheduled around the same time (1pm, 4pm, 7pm, 9pm).
the theater room is fine… great sound, tiered seating, and large screen. we sat in the back row and there was this big guy in front of me and i still saw everything perfectly!!! it’s definitely not as nice as the big fancy theaters but hey… for $ 3, it’s a really good deal!
plenty of parking… and oh… they still have time crisis 3 in their little arcade area! =) *happy* loved playing tc2 and some of tc3. =D

Old theater but worth it since movies are only $ 3. If you didn’t get a chance to catch the movie while it was newly release, at least it’s still on a big screen. Seats could be better but can’t expect much for just $ 3.
Still worth it in my opinion. Plus it’s close by so that is always a plus.

Get your $ 3 movie fill before it closes soon!
It’s not as bad as some people complain, but yeah the seats are old and can be messed up. I felt like I was lowriding when I sat down, but not a big deal.
I think they’re trying to make up money on the price of concessions. $ 18.50 for a large popcorn and 2 cokes… that must be some good ass popcorn! I just laughed, shook my head, and kept it movin’.
I should pull a Jimmy Macmillan and start a political party called THE CONCESSIONS PRICE IS TOO DAYAMNNNNNNN HIGH!

Why pay $ 10 for a movie ticket? When you can wait a month and watch them release at a $ 3 price? (:
I used to drive all the way to Pasadena for the $ 3 movies… pack and ugly as shit! It was the price that bought me there… and driving there… was a waste of gas… and parking was shit! NOW that Edwards release the price for $ 3 movies ^^ I am so happy! and it’s so near me…
Still old… Theater but looks way way way NEWER than the Pasadena $ 3 movie place. HAHA: D !

I will continue to frequent this place until I see all of the $ 3 movies I can handle. Just saw «Let Me In». Its a heart warming story about love between a vampire and human… sort of like Twilight.
I just need to figure out how to sneak at 64oz drink and a tub of popcorn… any ideas???

Yay for $ 3 movies. I have been waiting a long time for a ‘discount’ theater to open up close by. This one was however converted and I can see why. With its sister Regal theater just a few blocks away, I didn’t understood how it competed. And the other one is much nicer. The theaters here look a little outdated and the seats aren’t the most comfortable. So I’m glad they switched to showing a little bit older movies at a less expensive price. I have really stayed away from the movie theater from the most part except for a few must-​see movies. Mostly because it’s soooo expensive — matinees are like $ 10 now. Now I can see movies that just seem interesting or peak my interest for a mere $ 3. Awesome. Hopefully this switch will let them stay in business. I’ll be there weekly enjoying my big screen movie.

This theater has been around for ages! I still remember coming here when I was in middle school, having my dad dropping me off, meet up with some friends then we movie hop, haha. Good times.
I can’t complain about this theater since now the ticket to see a movie here is only $ 3, talking about great bargain!!! Although the movies that are playing at this location is older than the one on Garfield and Main, but watching a movie in «a theater» for $ 3 can never go wrong. But, what sucks is. restroom… yeah. it is upstairs, and weird thing is, theres only restrooms upstairs, so let’s say you need to do your business half way through the movie, you must run out (passing the person who rips the tickets in the front) then going upstairs either from the left or right to the restroom, then coming back down and telling the person you just went to the restroom so they can let you back in without asking for a ticket. It is just a hassle for all that, but hey. it is a very old theater and it was probably built this way for a reason back in the days.
AND. the seats in the theaters are definitely not as comfy as the ones that are in the new theaters. For a few times, I saw down and it felt like I got swallowed by the seat because it flipped backwards. (with me in it) you know when you have to flip down the seat, then sit? Yeah, you know what I mean, I sat down and BOOM! HAHA I am not even kidding, but I laughed it off because it was pretty funny. Having a tall person sitting in front of you is definitely not a good idea either. LOL
Fair enough, I stick to my words, can’t go wrong with $ 3!!!

I was expecting a total dump based on previous reviews. But it’s not really that bad.
This would not be my first choice to watch a movie, but as a fallback it isn’t a bad theater. A far cry from the quality of AMC.
It seems most of the newer movies are shown one block down at Edwards 14 on Garfield and Main.

I haven’t watched a movie at this cinema in a while, but the last time I did, I wasn’t impressed.
The cinema is getting old and doesn’t have stadium seating, so if you want to get a feel for the days before stadium seating, then definitely visit this location.
Edwards should close this cinema down and remodel it. The location isn’t great, but there’s the Edwards cinema on Garfield/​Main that is much better and newer.
If you have a choice, see a movie at a different theater.

I seriously think it’s about time you folks AT THE VERY LEAST get the uncomfortable, old, grimy, hard, smelly antique chairs all changed out.
Oh yeah, the sound system is a piece of shit too, change those out too while you at it.
Oh yeah, and what is this crap?
Hmm…should I:
1) not come here to see a movie because it could cost me an extra $ 100 should my alarm could go off, caused by a many number of things?
2) turn off my alarm to avoid being fined, but taking a chance that this won’t be the time my car get’s broken into or stolen?
3) ignore the stupid sign all together and accept the fact that EAPC and the city of Alhambra are both stupid.

I remember when this theater was the one everyone went to in Alhambra (before the one on Main opened) This place needs a face lift.
I still wonder why they still keep this one open, but I guess to compensate for the overflow at the other theater???
I went last night (7÷3÷08) to catch Wanted. The place was empty, I could literally run through all the seat aisles w/​hitting anyone, but then again, I like watching my movies in peace.
Nothing spoils a movie more than someone talking or texting on their phones, bratty kids kicking the back of your chair, or a buncha teenagers making obnoxious comments! (*Venting* one of my biggest pet peeves)
Good: if you don’t like crowded theaters, plenty of parking.
Bad: restrooms are all the way in the front upstairs, theater seats automatically tilt back and don’t look too clean, doesn’t have a huge selection of movies.
