If you are seeking a true healing acupuncturist who is interested in your complete well-​being this is NOT the place for you. If you are on a budget and are seeking a wellness environment and an acupuncturist that will genuinely care and get you there holistically, this place is NOT for you.
Sadly there is one thing Dr. Jin care’s about and it is money. Unless you have excellent insurance to cover your treatment or a lot of money at your dispose, you cannot expect to get true healing here.
I was in a desperate situation to change my life and tired of western medicine seeking alternative ways to help me heal. After being told I had symptoms of an 82 year old, I attempted 3 treatments for the cost of $ 180 (which you need up front, PERIOD). During this evaluation when explaining my situation, she only responded «oh, so sorry to hear that» lacking absolute bedside manner and jumping to questions as to how I could pay for this much needed treatment.
She did not explain to me what she was doing, she did not explain what points she was going to work on or why, she simply stuck me in a cold room, stuck needles in me, put a timer on, turned off the lights and that was that. When I was done, I felt very vulnerable and a little confused. Her acupuncture left me very much like food that is cooked «without love».
On my third and final treatment she gave me a speech that said although these 3 sessions were sort of like like an emergency response to my symptoms as an 82 year old, I still need to come back and when do I plan on doing that? (MORE MONEY). Being on budget I explained this is not something I can afford at this time at these rates and she continued to tell me that if I referred her office to at least 3 people, she would credit me $ 100 for each to help me. I thought this was a great idea and maybe my preconceptions of her were wrong and she really was a true healer «about the people.» Sadly, I was wrong.
I knew 3 people immediately who could benefit and each person reported to me the same results: they each were given symptoms of an 80 something year old, they each were asked personal, inappropriate and unethical non-​medically related questions (i.e. Well do you have a boyfriend who can pay?) and there was also an obvious defiance if questions were asked or if she felt challenged in any way. Questions by the way are someone’s curious way of trying understanding something they are not familiar with and for these 3 who have never had acupuncture it is normal to want to have certain questions ask — each individual’s answers given by Dr. Jin lacked «bedside manner» the true empathy of a healer and her very cold not looking you in the eye, «oh I’m so sorry» does not provide for a comforting environment for someone seeking treatment for the first time. The common thread from each of these 3: She wanted ultimately to know when she was going to get paid and if not she wanted to move on to someone who could pay her.
Each of my 3 went, one actually paid for treatment because they really wanted to help me earn a credit, the other 2 were so appalled with her questioning and push on money they left (I don’t blame them especially after hearing some of the questions).
I was never called for these referrals and when I would call back to check on them, the Dr. whose voice I recognized would say that the receptionist was out and take a message. Mind you I was not calling to cash in on these referrals, but express my true disappointment and embarrassment for giving these referrals. She clearly has no problem running her business the way she does but I can tell you if someone has plastered all over her office «the best compliment you can give is a referral» and then tries to give you credit for referrals be wary– A really good healer does not need to work off of these tactics as they will automatically have a successful business because good medicine = good word of mouth.
As a result, acupuncture left a bad taste in my mouth and I wondered if all acupuncturist acted in this manner. I was still desperate to heal and looking for options. After doing some online seeking I found a TRUE COMMUNITY HEALING ENVIRONMENT that anyone can afford (sliding scale from $ 25-​$ 40 per treatment) and my life has truly changed. Eagle Rock Community Acupuncture is the real deal and I am grateful I found this place to facilitate true holistic healing in my life with people who really care. There are other options out there, please do PLENTY of research before you feel you need to settle here, after all– it is YOUR body.

I’ve been treated by Dr. Jin for something approaching 2 years now, and it has been a total pleasure. Her acupuncture and herbal treatments have helped me in ways that are more numerous than I might be able to say. The upshot is that I feel healthier, happier, and more energetic than I have in a very long time.
Her clinic is intimate and relaxing. Every visit there is relaxing and at the same time energizing. I can recommend her very highly.

As a kid I had a very sensitive digestive system. I was always having issues with what I ate. My parents took me to many Dr.‘s and a few specialists. None were able to offer anything more than supplements, drugs or suggesting we take a family vacation. I did take numerous drugs for my allergies but they all stopped working after a few months and I never wanted to take any of them for months at a time. I didn’t see drugs as a real cure, just a way to mask the symptoms. I wanted to take care of what caused the symptoms. They weren’t able to offer me anything.
As I got older my symptoms got worse. If I ate meat, or any animal product I became severely ill with intense cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhea, dizziness, indigestion. It would take me a few days to recover. It felt like food poisoning. I became a vegetarian and found a lot of my problems went away but not 100%. If I accidentally ate something with chicken stock, or meat I would still get really sick. I had a very difficult time eating out with friends. Some were accommodating to my dietary needs but most weren’t. After several years I became a vegan. I still didn’t feel fully well. I suffered from asthma, allergies, stomach pains, cramps, indigestion, light headed feeling if I stood up, lack of energy and sudden energy drops. I would nap every day and found myself doing a lot less. I loved to hike and spend time outdoors but found myself cooped up inside a lot. I felt like I was always resting from doing stuff.
Then in 2010 I really started to feel bad and had severe cramps, asthma, restless nights, diarrhea and occasional vomiting. I was eating a very limited diet and couldn’t understand why I was still getting sick from it. I had very limited food choices and felt like my body was just giving up. I decided to give Acupuncture a try.
I found Dr. Sandy Jin at the lotus festival in Echo Park, and signed up for a consultation. We identified 32 symptoms. After 3 months of twice weekly appointments of Acupressure and Acupuncture I was able to see my symptoms diminish and as the weeks went by we checked off the cured symptoms and eventually that list of 32 went down by half, and I had my first bite of chicken in 15 years. Nothing happened. I had no side effects from having eaten chicken. During the next year my symptoms improved and we were able to check off the entire list. That year had it’s ups and downs, I had some symptoms that kept coming back and Dr Jin kept dealing with them until they went away.
Today I feel so much better and can’t believe what I had put up with in the past. I recommend Dr Jin to anyone seriously looking to better their health and well being. It’s an investment worth making.
