Malee Thai Massage & Bodywork

I was planning on making an appointment anyway, but then a Groupon deal popped up and I grabbed it.
The man who answered the phone when I called for the appointment was very curt and almost off-​putting.
The ladies that I dealt with the following day, however, were very friendly. Really good customer service from them.
I’ve had authentic thai massage before. This one felt slightly different but the masseuse focused on the areas that I was having a problem with.
As a previous reviewer mentioned the massage strokes seemed a bit rushed, rather than the slow, steady pressure I’m used to. But again, my problem area was well taken care of and I have no complaints.
A good experience overall.

So I got to my appointment 10 mins late (I blame it on the snow and also the fact the old towne is always a shit show for parking), they were very understanding and offered me tea to relax as filled out the usual forms that go with getting a massage. I had a Groupon and opted for the Thai Yoga massage… let me tell you it was life changing. I will never in my life get any other type of massage. I was brought back by a cute girl named Zula she showed me my room and gave me an outfit to change into and some slippers to put on. I did this and was brought to another room where I received a foot scrub and wash. We chit chatted and she got to know me and my likes as far as pressure and problem areas. I was then lead to the Thai massage room. Now this is where things were a tad different then what I’m accustomed to. There was a cushion (about the size of a matress) on the floor with pillows for my head. I layer down as instructed and had the most amazing, we’ll thought out and considerate massage I have ever received. The Thai Yoga massage includes massage, stretching and assisted yoga positions. At the conclusion of my 90 min massage I was given more tea and told to take my time to get ready to leave. I took about 10 mins and was greeted by the friendly front desk staff. Zula gave me a business card and I was on my way. Thanks to the staff for an exceptional experience.

I am an avid massage lover and although I had never heard of this place I bought a Capitol Deal because there were good reviews. I got the 90 minute Malee Thai Signature Deluxe massage which included a traditional Thai massage, Thai hot oil therapy and hot stone therapy along with a foot bath. Overall I enjoyed my massage. I am used to my typical masseuse who uses a really intense Eastern European style of massage so Thai massage was new for me. It is definitely different. Some other Unilocalers made comments about the massage possibly being inappropriate for folks who aren’t that flexible and I could definitely see that. A lot of my massage towards the end was basically assisted yoga where the masseuse pushed my limbs into various shapes to stretch me. I am really flexible and it was fine for me but I can see how some folks might find that painful/​not comfortable. I gather that that is just how Thai massage works so it’s not really a commentary on my massage, just a comment on what it is like. I liked how my massage used a variety of techniques; the hot stones in particular were nice. The whole being walked on as a technique was not my favorite, but again, this is just what Thai massage includes. The tea offered before and after the massage was a nice touch. The facility itself is really quiet and peaceful with pretty decorations. The customer service for booking the massage and getting assistance after my massage to get a receipt in particular was really excellent, very quick and responsive. Overall, although I will probably stick to my usual masseuse just because I like his techniques more, this was a good massage and a nice facility and if you like Thai massage I know you will love your massage here.

By far the best massage I’ve ever received.
My husband and I get massages on a regular basis as our jobs are strenuous on our bodies. We’ve tried several locations in the DMV area and we were blown away at the results of this place. We left feeling looser, more relaxed – physically and mentally. The massage ladies were the sweetest and really knew what areas to work on the most without me even telling them. Definitely do the 90 minutes! And I’m definitely spreading the word on this little gem!

Came here after a long series of flights and it was just what the doctor ordered. It is a Thai-​style massage complete with loose pants (which they provide) and therapists who will use both their arms and feet (they will use their feet and knees) to work out the tight spots in your back. It was great. It was worth the price for the 90 minute massage — and I appreciated that the conversation was minimal just because I was pretty tired. All in all, definitely would go back if I was in town.

Amazing! The absolute best massage ever! The staff were very nice and Nicky is phenomenal! :) I had the MaLee Signature + Foot Bath (90 minutes) and it was a great combination of massage, aromatherapy, hot stones, and stretching. Will definitely be going back soon!

CONS THIS PAST VISIT: The front desk person charged my credit card without confirming the amount. I just got an email that day stating that it would be $ 85 and she charged me $ 100. She said there was no way she could change which I know is a slight lie… they have void buttons. But, I just told her to make sure she charged my friend $ 85 and she did.
2^nd mishap — they put me in the back room and for 20 minutes I had to hear the washer spin loudly. So not relaxing!
I think Ann knew that was a problem and said she would give me 30 minutes free the next visit.
So, because of the laundry and the girl charging me too much… I had to knock them down a star. But, the massage itself was still 5 stars!

Wonderful massage! An east meets west experience. I had the 90 minute signature massage. It starts with a foot bath and scrub which is very pleasant. Then you slide into PJ bottoms and get onto the massage table while they work on your legs in typical Thai-​style (part gentle yoga stretches, part acupressure). Then he moved to my back and switched to a hot-​stone massage style. Finally, I slipped on a PJ top and as the message was wrapped in Thai style again. Wonderful experience, can’t wait to go back.

I had just gotten home from a 6 hour drive and this was just what I needed to walk upright!

Love that they opened another place near me! Thai massage here is wonderful-​very clean, modern, quiet and above all-​experienced and caring masseuses. I’ve had both Rose and Anne-​terrific! I also bought the Travelzoo and Thalee’s coupons, so it’s a great deal. You won’t be disappointed-​and I’m very picky.

Wow is all I can say! My spouse had scheduled a couples massage here and had no idea what was in store. I figured it was just the traditional rub therapy but boy I was wrong. The outside of the place looked a little suspect at first but once I entered I was very impressed. Clean and slick décor and was provided this wonderful tea before our session. Now this is the first time myself and the spouse tried an actual thai message and it was interesting to say the least. lol. They start you off with the foot cleanse which was a nice touch. After that the main session begins. Now I was a bit uncomfortable at the beginning because the lady (forgot her name but was very nice and professional) started to step on my body and I’m thinking what in the world is going on! But I got comfortable with the technique and the pressure was just right with the exception of a few occasions but overall it was great. A complete 90 minute detail which felt like forever covering all parts of the body that employed yoga like poses with assisted stretching! The hot stones felt absolutely wonderful and the end stretching which focused on the lower body was amazing! I told my wife she had to take notes of this so she can do these things to me at home! Overall, I felt refreshed and relaxed. Making arrangements to visit at least once a month to help alleviate our daily stress. Would recommend without reservation.

I keep coming back for the traditional Thai massage. I have significant back issues and have always felt pleased with how much better I feel after the massage which includes deep pressure massage (adjusted to my preference), stretching, and pressure points. I’ve tried Malee at different locations and have not been disappointed. I have tried other Thai massage businesses and have not had the same level of service. I highly recommend coming here.

wooohoo, I’m new again. Anne was great. She took her time working out my knots so it wasn’t too painful. 1^st timers get a $ 20 discount. The 90 min felt like 2 hours. I didn’t think I would ever get a good massage like the ones I got in Thailand but I did. The ability to make appointment same day was easy enough. I chose this place because of the great reviews on Unilocal.I had hoped for Ken since his name was every where but he doesn’t work Sundays but I ersiously couldn’t have asked for a better session. They give you delicious ginger tea before and after your massage. The room temp was nice, hot stones were awesome.

I am SO happy to have Thai massage in my backyard. For those who have not yet tried Thai massage, the modalities are like involuntary yoga. It is by far, my favorite type of massage. Malee appears very small outside. However, upon walking in, to my amazement I found a very serene and spacious oasis. As I checked in, I was greeted by my therapist, Ken. He gave me a cup of tea (which was dynamite might I had; a peppery taste). I proceeded to complete the intake form. Next, I entered the room where my massage was to take place.
Ken was more than professional in making sure I was comfortable. Before we got started, he asked me some questions about previous massages, injuries, allergies, expectation for the service for that day, etc. I am glad that he asked. However, one would assume that when you spend time completing the form, that the form is given to the therapist. He was not given the form. I would say that this is an item for approval on the management’s part.
I have had many Thai massages. My first one was in China. Ken is at the top of my list for best Thai massage therapists. He was awesome at getting the knots out. And he was very consistent on both sides of my body. Often times you might get a therapist that did one thing on one arm, and something else on another;missing the aspect of balance. The selfish part of me wanted to tell him to hold pressure and stretch me long. but hey 90 minutes is still 90 minutes.
I will certainly be a regular at Malee. Especially, for the month of April. $ 79 for 90 minutes until the end of the month. Guys and gals… GET THERE.

This was my first Thai massage and bodywork, and definitely won’t be my last. Ken did an amazing job. He was so professional from beginning to end. Ken was also very knowledgeable and explained the techniques to me. The stretching was wonderful. My experience far exceeded my expectation.

This was my first time at Malee and, at the suggestion of a friend, decided to get a Thai Massage at this place. First off, it’s a remarkably nice, clean and beautiful space. When I entered through the front door, it was as if the world is left behind. I was greeted by several very friendly staff that made me feel very welcome. I was offered Tea while I waited for my appointment to start. My appointment was with a very nice, soft spoken guy named Ken. He took me back and started with a foot bath and then proceeded into a body massage. It included hot stones as well. What I didn’t expect was some gentle stretching but really did help relax me. I felt like a new person leaving. I strongly recommend this place and, if you have not had a Thai massage, I would strongly encourage that as well — it’s so much better than the standard massage anywhere else. I look forward to going back to this place and I highly recommend Ken as well.

Possibly the best massage I’ve ever had. I came in with neck, back, and foot pain after a trade show standing all day and walking for miles which I’m not used to. I feel like a new person! This is FULL BODY, very comprehensive, and the passive stretching is a unique and wonderful feature that makes the Thai massage stand apart from other techniques. I do yoga and heard this is better for you than normal stretching because you’re not straining any of your muscles doing it. Beautiful space, amazing tea! Ann was fantastic. The ONLY thing I would change is slowing everything down, I felt the speed of the massage and stretching could have been drawn out. Overall incredible! Do yourself a favor and go! For their grand opening just $ 79 for 90 minutes!

Super happy that they have a location in Old Town! The new office is lovely, and surprisingly spacious from how small it looks on the outside. I’ve been going to the Falls Church location but will be coming here from now since it’s walking distance from work. The message starts w the usual footbath and tea, and I usually go w medium to hard pressure on the malee traditional. It mostly concentrates on stretching. If you want a little more luxurious massage experience w the Thai massage, then the malee signature deluxe is nice, since they use hot stones and hot towels during. Both are equally awesome. They usually have promotions on their website for both types of massages for the same price.

Firstly, congrats Malee on the new location! It is gorgeous. Looks tiny from the outside and honestly I passed it twice because it’s easy to miss but once inside.*cue angel harps* lovely interior, 6 rooms including a couples suite.
Similar to the other location (s) you start with tea/​water and a foot bath. I was surprised I wasn’t asked to complete paperwork but during the foot bath I was asked about any prior surgeries or trouble spots. Rose was a gem. Malee Signature Deluxe included thai massage and hot stones. I asked for med-​deep pressure and that’s what I got. Because I’m a bit more flexible, Rose tailored some of the manipulations to my specific needs, which was AWESOME.
Great location in Old Town Alexandria. I will certainly be back. floating between here and Thaitastik in DC. I just had bodywork 2 weeks ago, but Malee (this location only) is running a special for the month of November. $ 79 for 90 minutes of traditional or signature deluxe. That’s $ 50 off, folks! And you can use it more than once as long as it’s by Nov 30!
