For a Sunday Game Day, my family and I ordered Vegetable Lo Mein, Hunan Shrimp, Shrimp Fried Rice and Crab Rangoons. Based on the so-so reviews we were skeptical on ordering but it was close and most importantly they DELIVERED! The food is actually decent and didn’t seem low quality at all. We loved that all the food came in different sizes, Small(2 people can share), Large or Combo(Large with Pork Fried Rice & Spring Roll) . Seems like a lot of bad reviews were related to fried dishes like General Tso etc. If you stick to seafood or the veggie based dishes I guess you will be okay. This is not my go to for Chinese but for some inexpensive chinese food and door to door delivery I can get with it.

The food was so bad. Low quality meat, too much breading, too much salt, mushy wontons, gross looking egg drop soup. I ate some of the rice because it was the only thing that was edible. Went home and had some cheese and crackers. Never going back.

Food was hoooooooorible. Rice was so hard I thought I was chewing on rocks. No flavor at all. I had to add soooo much soy sauce it was ridiculous.

Very meh. The food fills a hole, but reminds me that we are very far away from China.

The downward spiral continues. A year ago when I moved to this area this place was actually decent but lately it has been a total joke. Tonight’s lemon chicken fiasco finally warrants a review to accompany the boycott. At most Chinese joints the lemon chicken is usually just breaded chicken breast. It used to be the same at magic wok but tonight I got a greasy, soggy hodge podge mess of random, fatty chicken chunks(at least I hope it is chicken) with a side of hot runny yellow sauce. The only lemon in the meal was the random lemon slices on top of previously mentioned soggy meat pieces. I’m taking it as a sign that this joint will never return to it previous standard. Lesson learned. It was an eleven dollar lesson(and I am still hungry), but I learned it just the same.

I have been ordering delivery from here for years. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to write a review. This is the best Chinese takeout /delivery place in the area. The order for my family varies from time to time, but mostly it consists of the following: fried or steam dumpling, crab rangoon, chicken on a stick, and a dinner special order of sesame chicken and general tso’s chicken(both dinner specials come with pork fried rice and a spring roll). All of the portions are huge, and the various items are all great! There is always enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Delivery is fast, it takes anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. However, one thing Magic Wok has over their competitors is their price. You know how much the listed above order costs? roughly $ 30 before tip to the delivery guy. No joke. You cannot beat that price for the quality and quantity of food.

This is one of my go-to places. I usually love to get take out after I get back in from a trip. Their service and great. Staff is very friendly and quick. The food is much like other American Chinese food places, but they are distinctively better. Their flavors are more on point. Their chicken is always tender and never fatty. The sauces are full bodies and they don’t skimp. The spring rolls are so delicious. I love spring rolls, but not all places make a solid roll. They make the best.

We really used to love this place, until today. They sloppily placed food in the take out container(in a paper bag) the sauce leaked out and burned my child’s knee. They were rude and nasty. Customer service is bad. I guess we will find a new take out place.

Hellloo? Who is serving up some magic in this kitchen? This is my go-to for cheap Chinese food that consistently serves up golden meals. I found this place one evening after getting into a stupid tiff with Hubby. I wanted something greasy and determined that oily Chinese food would make me feel better. Well, highly disappointed that I didn’t get oily, but I got healthy Chinese food instead. Yay! The chicken and black bean sauce dish is my fave. Everything I’ve ordered from this places has delighted me. And I mean«errything.» Oh, and the prices and wait time are just right. Do yourself a solid and get your eats on here. It’s not a sit-down kind of place, at least not for me. They have seating, but I prefer to eat my food in the comfort of home. Simply for the dine-in option, I give them a 4-star rating. But if not for that, they’d get a big, fat 5. P. S. No MSG, folks!

A solid take out place. Fast service, great food and killer chicken dishes. Vegetable fried rice is loaded with veggies and not overdone. Free soda with a large order. General Tsao chicken is awesome.

Awesome Chinese food for a very good price. The chicken wings are super good, the full wing so you get your money’s worth. I call in and order take out probably once a weekend and am always happy. Big servings so you’ll have leftovers. Not much seating inside so definitely a take out kinda place. Best Chinese around.

Good American Chinese, cheap. Not crowded. Ambience makes it appear bad, but for the price I think it’s a great deal. Especially for lunch.

Solid Chinese food. Very friendly and relatively quick. Only done takeout but it’s never taken more than 15 minutes. General Tsao’s awesome, chicken lo mein awesome, wonton soup awesome, sweet and sour chicken 4 stars, fried rice 4 stars, spring rolls that come with meals 2 ½ stars(not much filling and greasy), steamed dumplings 1 star :-(they were 99% dough, the little fried crispy noodles that come on the side 0 stars… pure grease. Would totally be 5 stars if they’d just tighten up a few things especially the dumplings.

So I have been getting takeout from this spot for years, and I have to say that it is solid but not great. The food can tend to be a bit bland at times, but that is easily corrected with a pinch of salt. However, you could do far worse in the area for takeout, and their delivery is some of the fastest in the area. Why, even Dominoes would be jealous. Also, as other reviewers have noted, the prices at the Magic Wok are really reasonable. The quality of the food is ok. I usually pick up something from this place when I am too tired to wait on an order from Dishes of India. After an order of shrimp fried rice and a spring roll, I am pretty much done for the night, as I fall into a Magic Wok food induced slumber. I have also had their Kung Po Chicken which is pretty good, but the sweet and sour chicken is a neon orange mess that is so sweet that it ranks as one of the worst Chinese meals I have ever had. Thus, I always stay with the Kung Po anything or the Moo Shi which is delicious and Yummy.

Great take out and delivery place. I’ve done both. The delivery time is reliable. I like their general tsao, moo shu pork and fried rice. It’s located in the Belle View shopping center. Their hours are reasonable.

This is the BEST chinese delivery in Alexandria. The food is relatively cheap, no delivery charge, and it’s delivered quickly and hot. Everything we’ve ordered has been pretty delicious — the wings, General Tso’s, Fried rice… it’s all good. I read someone else’s review that«Magic Wok is not authentic Chinese. It’s the fast food Americanized version and it’s delicious and disgusting at the same time.» This reviewers comment hit the nail on the head. Don’t order from Magic Wok if you’re expecting«authentic.» Order from Magic Wok because it’s a week night and you don’t feel like cooking, or it’s your«cheat diet day.» You won’t be disappointed.

Have been getting takeout from here for years and while there was a slight price increase a few years ago it is still the cheapest chinese food around. The delivery also comes extremely fast. All of the different standard chinese options have been excellent and they even have coupons the more you order. Definitely a go to place and the best in the Alexandria area for standard greasy chinese food.

Best bad Chinese in northern Virginia — and awesome delivery service. When we’ve had to move, we’ve always experienced a sense of relief that we were still in their delivery zone. Magic Wok is not authentic Chinese. It’s the fast food Americanized version and it’s delicious and disgusting at the same time. The Mister and I have been fans since 2008. It’s our go-to ‘Please don’t make me cook night and let’s gain 5lbs of sodium weight without leaving the house’ plan.(What? You don’t have that plan?) The prices are ridiculously cheap and the servings are massive. I think every snowstorm should start with a delivery from Magic Wok. You’ll be eating leftovers when they finally plow your street three days later. Their delivery is quick and the food is always fresh. The menu has all the typical fast food Chinese stuff on it. I’m a fan of the orange chicken and crab rangoon, but you’ll find your own favorites.
