Ordered online through Unilocal.I requested fried rice with my orange chicken, which was an option for an extra dollar. I got home to find out that they gave me brown rice instead. The chicken though good in taste was slightly hard. Not sure if I will return but if I do I will make sure I check my order before I leave the establishment

This place gets one star and is an exception to my rule. I eat here cause sometimes I need a Chinese food fix and this is the nearest place. The food is bland. The presentation is awful. This place stays in business purely because of proximity to the nearby buildings. As a resort… I know order delivery from Big Panda in Alexandria whenever I can. Eating here is like rewarding a child for bad behavior. They aren’t going to change their practices till people stop eating there.

The food was standard Chinese restaurant fare. I ordered the general tso’s lunch combo with a canned drink and it was ready before I got my drink from the case so I’m sure it was pre-made but it tasted like it had been sitting for a while. I’ll order white rice next time though. The fried rice didn’t have much flavor. I got enough food to serve two people and it was a good deal for the price. I’ll be back again.

I’ve been here with my family for having lunch. Lunch Special was served with fried rice, but I doubted the rice was fried or not. It was a little dark, but it was not enough fried. It was just dark steamed rice. Price was more expensive than other chinese restaurant, but taste is more horrible. I won’t go here again.

As others have said, it’s not horrible, but it simply has no taste. The food didn’t appear to be of poor quality, it just was completely bland and tasteless. In addition, their«fried rice» that I requested as a side(and paid more for), was simply just steamed brown rice. I ordered General Tsos(I know, not original), and you couldn’t event tell. The«sauce» was merely slightly red tinted water at the bottom of the tray. There were no peppers to be found. I tried drowning my chicken in the sauce they provided, but it was still completely bland. Doesn’t seem like a horribly run place, but the food quality was insulting and I’ll never go back. Why is it so hard to find semi respectable chinese around here?

The food is exactly what you would expect from an American Chinese restaurant. I’ve never had a bad batch of anything and they’re fast and accurate with take-out orders.

I like to order pretty late in the evening and my wife and I are always pleased with the quality and delivery service of Hunan Café. The crispy beef is delicious and the portion sizes are more than enough! I would recommend this place to anyone who has late night Chinese cravings like I do.

The folks here are pretty friendly and the food is always pretty freshly made every time I stop by or order from here. It’s not going to change your world but it’ll fill your tummy alright? Bonus: After the first phone order they remember your address so you can get your food ASAP!

The Chinese food here is pretty good for«fast food». The lunch specials are large portions which is great especially when you want to save some for dinner at the office. The only horrible part was the fact that their lines are huge. It takes forever to get through which pretty much took most of my lunch break. My colleagues and I were pretty upset with how long it took to make the food as well. But the service is okay as well. Try the sesame chicken, it’s pretty tasty! Order ahead of time, that saves you time!

Something has changed with this place lately. Went there and noticed the usual staff are not there anymore and the staff that is there has zero personality. I ordered a soup and dumplings to stay and seriously, it took about twenty minutes. The guy at the counter couldn’t even walk the food over to me. Dumplings were cold and doughy. The noodles are ALWAYS stale lately. Also, the AC was not really working well on a very hot day. Tables were sticky as well as the salt and pepper and condiment jars. Also, it’s a stupid thing, but they have a light that’s been burned out over one of the tables for at least six months. The fish tank that used to be pristine is filthy… poor fish. Makes you wonder what else they’re not paying attention to. While I was there I heard another customer complaining that something was not right with one of the dishes he frequently ordered. Something has changed and not in a good way. Hope things pick up around there or we’ll be skipping this place, which is a shame because its right across the street from where we live.

Went for lunch with a colleague yesterday and the food was terrible. It had absolutely no flavor and the presentation looked like they didn’t care. How do you mess up General Tso’s chicken?! The«fried» rice looked like it was just Boil-in-a-bag rice… just terrible. I will NEVER eat here again!

I have my lunch there at least once a week. Never get bored of their food. Spicy food lovers? Should order the curry shrimp rise and you can order it extra spicy!

This spot is in the cut on Eisenhower avenue, minutes from old town. Its in a very large/long strip mall. I got broccoli and chicken and I’ve had MUCH better. I wish I got something else because it was very bland and it upset my stomach hours later. 1 star for the outdoor seating which is nice and quiet. Although it was busy(lunch rush) I got my food quickly. For 8 bucks I did get a large portion size… one more star. Skip the chicken with brocolli if you decide to go here.

I just ate here. I liked the place a lot. The dining area is very pleasant, clean, fresh and just looks good. The food was really good(chicken w/broccoli). I would rate the food 8⁄10. Much better than most other places in Alexandria. There seemed to be a great amount of chicken in the meal and it was very fresh. Service was quick and easy. Atmosphere was nice. If you don’t buy a drink, they tell you to get a cup for water, which is nice.

This place is a surprising stop on the Orient Express to flavor and yummy goodness. I really didn’t expect too much from this spot, but their curry chicken fried rice soon had me doing a double take. A cross between Shanghai and Bombay, this fried rice was the marriage of two perfect Asian taste. Their egg rolls were also unique, for they had a somewhat sweet flavor that was subtle and playful. They were so good that next time I might just order three egg rolls and call it a day. Still, the best thing about this place is some of the different dishes that I haven’t seen on other Chinese menus. I say channel your inner Marco Polo and explore this one, foodies.

Crab rangoons are nice and plump, cooked right – not greasy. Fried rice is only $ 1 extra and has no veggies or meat, flavor is fine and it’s not too oily. I’ve only had chicken dishes: Patent examiner special was a little sweet and slightly spicy. Kung Pao chicken is a stir fry, not fried. Not very spicy. Hunan chicken sauce is medium spicy and has a nice consistency, not too much corn starch. In all the chicken dishes, the meat has great flavor and is cooked well. Only had take away, but the service is always prompt and friendly. When I ordered online, they called to clarify what I wanted. Good location, easy to get in and out, parking can be tough, because there are several restaurants on this strip of road. Great value!

I ordered the Hunan Shrimp and was really impressed by how fresh the veggies were and that the shrimp were CLEAN, plentiful, and a decent size. I thought I had a side of white rice, but much to my dismay, they had given me «fried» rice which was white rice tossed in soy sauce. Why is that the default? I did not like the taste of it on its own. Thankfully, it was drowned in the sauce that came with my food! I will definitely return to try some other dishes. The price for dinner was a little on the steeper side than I’m used to paying, but overall, I enjoyed my meal.

~3.5 stars~ I dropped into this place tonight for a quick bite. I couldn’t tell if it was a table service restaurant or a carry out or eat in-type place(which found out later it was), because the décor was so nice. The place was also really big. They must do some great business at lunchtime. Anyway, I went with an egg roll and an order of Singapore Rice Noodles. I paid immediately and added a dollar tip because I figured I’d get some table service. Yes, the food was dropped off at my table, but when I asked about utensils, I was told to go to the condiment station to pick up my own stuff. That was a buck spent unwisely, I guess. Don’t make the same mistake and waste money tipping here. My egg roll was unimpressive(like most of them are around here). It was slightly undercooked and tasting of nothing but dough. That might have been because it was really a vegetable roll, something that was not mentioned to me when I ordered an «egg roll.» I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that they were just being lazy instead of deceitful. However, the good news is that my Singapore Rice Noodles were excellent and one of the best I have had in the area. It was commendably spicy as advertised and had a generous amount of egg and vegetables to go with the meat and noodles. I was also impressed that they used the full-size shrimp that are used in the shrimp dishes, instead of the little crappy ones you will often find in this dish. I just wished they used pork instead of the tasteless beef that was in it. Still, great job. So I’ll recommend this place for a nice, quick dinner in a comfortable setting.
