Went there for mani/​pedi! I was taken care by Annie! Sweet mongolian woman, very friendly and professional! I loved it! 5 stars!

Went in with a friend for a spa mani/​pedi that I purchased from Groupon. I had Melody and she did a good job! They offered wine, soda or water once we sat down (not sure if that’s because we had the spa package or not). Place is very clean and simple. Super cute place! Parking is hectic and on-​street parking.

Got a gel manicure, and it’s chipping terribly after 5 days. So there’s that.
The girl doing my nails didn’t even bother to cut my cuticles, and used such a rough file that I had to ask her to fix how uneven they were (she didn’t). Once I got home, I also noticed how uneven the polish is, with some patches looking darker than others. It looks silly and because I chose a pink color, very noticeable. Service was mediocre at best, definitely not friendly, and one of the worst manis I’ve ever gotten.
For $ 35, plus $ 5 to remove old polish, I’m sure there are MANY places that will do a better job. Save your time and go elsewhere.

Completely dissatisfied by the service provided by this salon. We purchased a GroupOn for highlights, hair cut and blow dry. Not only they took my GroupOn but also charged us extra for the everything which was suppose to be covered under the GroupOn. My wife confirmed from the stylist (Mona) about the GroupOn and later she completely changed her statement in front of the owner, I think his name was Matt. I think they cheated us pretty badly. We ended up paying $ 250+ for the services. I wish I could give them zero stars. The stylist kept saying to me that because my hair is taking long and she lost so many customers? Not sure why she kept repeating that. My hair took the same amount of time that it normally takes every other salon. From entering to this salon to leaving — it was complete horrible experience. Very bad customer service and they ripped us off by charging the GroupOn and separately charging us. Stay away from this place, shady business practices.
Got home and checked how my hair was done only to realize that all my hair from the back are still the same color. She highlighted from the front and left hair from the back and underneath the same color. Absolutely horrible job done by Mona and now I am more upset that not only I overpaid for the services I received but also that they didn’t do it right. Never ever going back to this salon and would highly recommend to stay away from them.

This is my first time going to this salon. My stylist was Mona. She did a color, cut and blowdry. The color was perfect for my complextion. My haircolor looks healthy, natural and shiny. The cut is also perfect. It was just what I asked for. I am very happy with the services and will go back again.

I decided to come to town at the very last minute. My regular hair dresser (in Florida) was unable to squeeze me in on instant notice, so I decided to try and get in at a place I used to go when I lived in Old Town. They had no openings before New Years Eve, of course, and my hair was an embarrassment. My hair is long, fine, naturally mousy, wavy, and highlighted to a light blonde. There was mineral build-​up which turned it brassy and an unmentionable amount of out-​growth. I started calling places available through Groupon. When the receptionist answered for Jeymi Salon he indicated that there would be a «Master Stylist,» available at exactly the time I needed. The word «Master,» has come to mean very little it seems when it comes to hair. «Masters,» at Super Cuts for example and every other salon I’d spoken to offered the same. «Okay, but does he do blonde?» He regaled me with, «New York Fashion Week, Paul Mitchell, America’s Next Top Model, etc…» My question remained unanswered. I wondered if I should just make it through NYE and go to my regular lady– a dream boat– when I got back to Florida. But I was desperate not to look like a vagrant.
«Okay, I’ll take it.»
Somehow Southwest Air, Reagan National and my Über driver got it together and delivered me to town early. I enter the chic salon in elephantine fashion (due to luggage thank you) at 11:00 instead of 11:30 as planned, prepared to wait. The salon is smart and warm filled with products that are organized to perfection. I am greeted by a very tall, lithe person who introduces himself as Mark. I quickly learn it is he who will be doing my hair. There will be no waiting. He calls me Dude and plants me in a chair. He is boisterous yet meticulous. I describe the situation I am in. He reverberates his understanding of what I want. «This is no problem, Dude.» I am suspicious. I am nervous: not just because he is a new person doing my hair, but because he is energetic and chatty. I hate being stuck in a chair for two hours listening to someone prattle on. He offers me a beverage and turns to with color coordinated boxes and canisters in array like a candy store. There is an artist playing in the background that reminds me of a mature Meg Myers. I give in to the anxiety and sip my water. «I can’t look much worse than I do now,» I think, I hope. He slides back behind the chair with his concoction. I watch his gestures out of fear, anticipation and because he is visually engaging. He is charming and interesting, the conversation isn’t prattle at all. I find myself in genuine laughter. He plies while he speaks. He soothes my anxiety with historical knowledge and stories about his past all the while wielding his paintbrush and foil strips like a magician. He is fast. I have been trapped in chairs for four hours before for a full-​highlight and trim due to the amount of hair I have. He completes the foils in forty-​five minutes. «Twenty minutes,» he says. «Now for the real test,» I think. «Is all of this just slight of hand? Is it really going to come out baby-​chick-​yellow, as it has so many times before, or will I end of with that cool Scandinavian blonde I desire?» I still long for the safety of my chair in Florida. He comes back three times to inspect my progress. The conversation has organically ceased. I am reading a story in Vogue about a promiscuous gypsy. «You’re ready Dude.»
Due to the weight of my hair and the length of my neck having my hair shampooed at one of those stations is often like torture. However there is a cushion and an angle to the ones at Jeymi that make me grateful. He slips off the foils and starts washing my hair: this experience is nothing short of amazing! Truly a massage, and massage is a euphemism for what is really transpiring. The crying baby on the flight disappears from my mind, the first Über driver that didn’t show up at the airport disappears from mind, my anxiety disappears, I feel nothing but the slow steady pleasure of scalp manipulation. I don’t know for how long this goes on-​ages it seems. Then there is a towel being wrapped around my head. I feel like one does after emerging from a Bikram session. «How do the others compete with that,» I ask.

Next phase of the gamut. The brushing out. With new people I usually offer to do this part myself. But I decide to see what he’s got before insisting. It’s done without delay, tangles, or my euphoria being disturbed. He snips and snaps. He asks me if my hair tends to fall flat on the top. It does. «We’ll fix it, but there’s going to be a scary part.»
«Great,» I think. «Here goes everything.»
The color of my hair is exactly what I asked for. It is light and cool. it is even and dense enough without looking died or overly processed. I am ecstatic and amazed. When he is finished blow drying he brushes it out. I can see the precision of the cut. I am pleased. «Now for the scary thing.» But I am no longer afraid. He

I made an appointment for a friend and myself to get a mani-​pedi after seeing the offer in groupon ($ 29!) My friend arrived on time, I was a few minutes late but they were awesome and very accommodating. As soon as I walked in and told him my appointment info, I was offered a few choices of drinks and taken upstairs to the nail stations. Great time! Probably won’t return unless they have another groupon. The regular price was a little expensive to us.
Oh and our nails looked great!

So, I came in last night with the Groupon for mani and pedi. I was taken care by Melody. The salon in itself is super clean and the staff is super friendly. However what made my entire visit a waste was the two girls who do the mani n pedi. She started with the pedicure. the water was way too hot for me however she didn’t ask me once if the temperature was fine etc. She didn’t say a word during the pedicure n kept chit chatting with her colleague.
Anyways we moved to the manicure. Firstly I have never gotten a mani in 10 min. She literally finished it in 10 min and also ended up ripping the skin off my left thumb. I bled from about 10 min during which melody tried everything to make it stop bleeding but eventually ended up putting a bandaid after the neosprin. So basically I left the place with an incomplete nail polish and a bandaid.
I must say the manager was super sweet and extremely apologetic and gave me a 20%discount and also called later to offer a free pedi. Thank you but no thank you. Not recommeded ESP for mani and pedi.

Great manicure and pedicure service! The woman who did my nails was very meticulous and detailed. She didn’t rush despite it being a busy Sunday. Everything was clean and organized as well.

I had Spa pedicure with Melody an it was awesome. The products they use smell gréât And they have massage chairs. I walked in on a Sunday and easily got an appointment.

So, I came yesterday for a mani/​pedi and I’m back today to have my nails fixed.
Before I get ahead of myself; let me first start off by saying the salon is really clean and everyone is very friendly and it appears to be genuine.
The upstairs is dedicated to manicures and pedicures; but the space is small. The pedicure chairs are fully functional and standard for pedicures. Small issue: I asked for the callus treatment and they had this wannabe ped-​egg they had to put together. Melody did nothing for my calluses; I had to go home and file them myself. My biggest issue is the fact that they don’t even have a plug in nail dryer; so you’re literally sitting and air drying. My friend and I came together and to be very honest, Annie and Melody were super sweet — not very talkative and we told them it was awkwardly quiet. I don’t think they knew what we meant.
My nails didn’t dry all the way, but they assured me they were dry. I went about my day, trying not to touch anything BUT all of my nails were ruined because they were not dry. I call them, the front desk person who answered the phone told me to come back the next day; so I did.
I had a made an appointment, it wasn’t written down so they had no idea what I was talking about. Luckily a girl remembered my name and confirmed my appointment. I go back up; Melody is doing a pedicure. I showed them my nails, they said «oh, yes». So, I sat and waited. Annie did my nails this time. Melody comes and sits next to me to finish her customer’s manicure. Randomly, like literally in the midst of silence, she looks up and says, «Janine, make sure you don’t mess your nails up this time, because there will be no next time». Firstly, my name is Jasmine. I was so angry and offended that I just had to shake my head to avoid cussing her out in front of folks. So I just sat as quietly as I could so I didn’t lose my shit. Then, they pulled out this ridiculous nail dryer (see picture) and it was really just comical. I had to try to squeeze both my hands under what seemingly looked like it was meant for one hand. High grade hilarity. When it was all over, I said thank you and went downstairs. I was going to quietly just say goodbye and be on my way, but the hairstylist at the desk asked me if they had fixed it. I told her they fixed it, but I’ve never had such a rude and offensive experience from a place of spa services. I retold the story and they were trying to give me a free pedicure to make up for the poor experience; which I can appreciate trying to make it right. I highly doubt I’ll be back, I’m just so disgusted. The only reason I’m giving them ANY stars is the fact that they did attempt to make it right. However, if you’re considering this place for a mani/​pedi? Reconsider!

So today was my first time trying this salon, and now it won’t be my last! I had a stylist named Adina and she was amazing. She knew exactly what I wanted and gave me awesome suggestions and ultimately gave me one of the best salon treatments I’ve experienced ever. My hair looks gorgeous and I felt like I got the five star treatment! Definitely a great place that I recommend for hair!

Went for the first time today for a condition, cut, and blow dry since I had a groupon and was in the market for a new salon. Adina was my stylist and I am so happy with my cut! She really took her time and was very friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

New to the area and so happy to have discovered my new stylist, Adina! She took time to really listen when I described what I wanted and did a beautiful job. I’m definitely going back to her!

Let me just tell you, Kelsi is FABULOUS! So I’ve lived in the area for over 7 years and have never been to this place. Mostly because I’ve just bounced around trying different salons over the years. So here’s what happened…
I’m freaking out because of course I wait until the last minute to get my hair done before leaving for Europe to go on vacation for two weeks, the NEXT DAY. I called Jeymi Salon at what, maybe 2pm on a Saturday I believe. I am just HOPING there’s maybe a cancellation or an opening for me the same day. Kelsi answers, and she’s just sweet as pie. She said they’re all booked up and asks if I can come in the next day. I sadly told her I couldn’t because I was leaving for Ireland in the morning (not so sad about that). She responds by saying that basically her last appointment should finish up around closing time, which was 7pm I think. But she would take me!!! Oh my gosh I was so elated!
I get there and she’s with a client, they were both hilarious. I hung out for a little bit while she finished with her. I even got to see the amazing work she did on her previous client. Completely transformed this girls look, and it was gorgeous! Kelsi offered me refreshments (they serve wine, happy face). I was just enjoying myself listening to these ladies and joining in on the conversation. Once they were done, Kelsi sat me down and spent a good amount of time looking at my hair, asking me what I wanted and giving suggestions. Even though she had technically «closed», she didn’t rush AT ALL. I told her I wanted something a bit extreme, on the red side. She worked her magic and ended up doing a great job! She dyed my hair red, and put fun lighter red highlights throughout. Then she cut and took her time blow drying as well. She did a really fabulous job! I loved how it came out. She even gave me these adorable bangs. At first I was hesitant as I have really curly hair, but when my hair is blown out it looks awesome. Even when it’s curly, the shorter curls around my face look really good.
Kelsi is just a really nice, sweet and fun girl! She was interesting to talk to and is a very experienced stylist! I would totally be her friend :)
I’m just saying, I can’t say enough good things about Kelsi’s work and how appreciative I was that she stayed late and took such great care of me. She didn’t have to do that, but I was so happy she did! The salon is really nice, and they’re also a full service spa. So a one stop shop! I will DEFINITELY be going back to Kelsi and to this salon again, and again, and again! It may be a bit pricier but it’s Old Town, what do you expect? I feel sad reading any bad reviews on here. Because I had one of the BEST experiences I’ve ever had with a stylist at Jeymi and with Kelsi. Seriously, very happy with everything. Thanks Kelsi!!!

The salon itself is very nice inside, and the staff are really friendly. The products they use are wonderful, and the other customers who were there the same time I was were repeat customers and enjoying the experience.
New to the neighborhood, and reading positive Unilocal reviews, inspired me to see if there were any appointments available for a same-​day trim. I wasn’t in a rush, and I could have come back another day. However, one of the stylists was able to see me after a 15 minute wait.
I had a photo of what I wanted, which was a cut that would work for my fine, straight hair. Basically, trim 2.5 inches (still longer than my collarbone) and add a few small face-​framing layers that are still longer than chin length. Nothing too exotic, as my hair was one length, cut straight across.
The stylist was on board with this, and she even tried to curl my hair as an added service at the end. I feel like it’s a waste of time, but I tend to humor the stylists in these situations because they think it will work. In the salon, my hair looked great. By the time I got home, the curls had fallen completely out and my hair resumed it’s «steady state» (not a surprise, my hair is really resistant to curling, and won’t even take a perm). I had stuff to do, so put my hair back into a clip, but not before thinking, «Oh, maybe there’s still some curl in it because the one side looks a lot longer than the other.»
My 1-​star rating comes from the fact that my hair was so seriously uneven that I had to cut it myself today in order to fix it. The left side was 1.5 inches longer than the right, and it didn’t matter which side I parted it on. She parted my hair in the middle to cut it, as I requested, it just came out totally uneven. They’re closed on Mondays, and I’m leaving town for a conference (where I will be filmed, hence wanting to have hair that looks even).
I tend to pay $ 30 – 40, plus tip, for a haircut and have never had this problem. I paid $ 75 for the cut and tipped $ 20 to have to re-​do it myself in my bathroom at home. I don’t care how convenient it is to my house, or the atmosphere, or the good styling products: I don’t want to return.

My husband and I moved to Alexandria last year and tried several salons and got several bad haircuts before going to Jeymi. My husband stumbled upon this salon on the weekend it opened and Kelsi cut his hair. She did an amazing job. He knew she and I would hit it off right away. So upon his recommendation I made an appointment. I have a curly pixie cut and she knew exactly what to do. She is talented and personable and I truly trust her. I go in knowing that she will give me a style I love. That type of confidence in a stylist is hard to find and she’s worth every penny.

A lot of time and effort went into my color correction and war torn hair!!! Thanks Kelsi you are the best.

Believe the hype. Kelsi is amazing! I am super picky about my hair and have always had trouble finding the right stylist my first time in a new area. Got color and cut done and couldn’t be more pleased. I now have a style where I used to just have some long, layered hair.
The highlights came out super natural just as I wanted. The cut is a little shorter than what I had gone in there wanting but Kelsi obviously knows what will work well with your face. Took a sec to get used to but the cut is fun and I feel makes me look younger. Who doesn’t want that?! She also does a proper consult: asks about lifestyle and such.
The salon is very cool. They had a DJ in there playing some great music. Also got wine to enjoy. Overall good vibe.
The only critique which almost made me give 4 stars was the lack of massage during the shampooing. This salon is pricey, which I don’t mind (always feel you get what you pay for) but in this instance I expected the service to come with a killer head massage which I didn’t get. I did let Kelsi know since she is the manager and hope no one else misses out on that. Since I already let her know, no need to mess with their rating.

It can be the best or worst experience to tell a hair stylist they have free reign to do whatever they think would look best on you. When I sat in Kelsi’s chair — that’s exactly what I did. Best decision EVER! She transformed my every day, sad, drab mom hair into something modern, sassy, sexy and so easy to do. Hands down, best stylist I’ve ever seen, she’s a master at what she does and I will follow her wherever she goes.
