We take the hassle out of home improvement by providing matchmaking services between homeowners and licensed, outstanding contractors, then follow through every referral to ensure the homeowner’s complete satisfaction. We service Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Montgomery County Maryland. We are a local company, so you can reach a person on the phone if you need us, and we do not charge the homeowner for our service. We only have the best contractors in our network (in business more than 5 years, licensed, insured, clean complaint histories) and we follow up every referral so we have a record of how each contractor is performing for the homeowners to whom we refer them. We will only refer contractors who offer outstanding service, value and quality.
History
Established in 2001.
Company owner Debbie Farson was looking for a family-friendly alternative to her work as a litigation attorney. About that time, she started yet another round of time-consuming and way too difficult home improvement projects. She figured there had to be an easier way to find and work with reliable contractors and from there HomeWise Referrals was born. Since its founding in 2001, the business has grown to include a strong network of reliable contractors serving homeowners in Northern VA, Montgomery County, MD, and Washington, DC.

Debbie came to the DC area in 1986, armed with a B.A. in English from Arizona State University and an acceptance letter from Georgetown University Law Center. Debbie worked as an attorney with a DC-based law firm for seven years, was a stay-at-home mom for five years, then founded HomeWise Referrals in 2001 to help other homeowners avoid the home improvement contractor troubles she had experienced. Debbie lives in Alexandria, VA with her husband and three children. In addition to all things «home improvement», Debbie enjoys reading, skiing, playing piano for her children’s choruses, and sitting on the board of the New York City Master Chorale.
