Bottom line: if you want to try this Georgetown Valet location based on its good Unilocal reviews, as I did, be prepared to pay in full in advance. I wanted to have my wedding dress cleaned. My usual dry cleaner is reliable for shirts, pants, etc. but I doubted they were up to the challenge of a wedding dress. I decided to try Georgetown Valet, mainly based on the Unilocal reviews, especially the one from a customer with a wedding dress. Everything was fine until I turned to leave, when the proprietor insisted that I pay for the cleaning in advance. Not half now/half later, or make a deposit, or leave a credit card number on file to be charged if i didn’t return; she wanted full prepayment. The woman explained that I had to prepay solely because I am a «new customer». Prepayment seems like a reasonable policy for items like shirts and pants that are easily forgotten. But I am not going to forget or abandon my *wedding dress* at the cleaners. Who does that?!? Plus, a wedding dress costs into the hundreds of dollars to clean. Even my bridal tailor only required half down and half on delivery(and yes, I was a first time customer). I explained to the woman that I was not comfortable with full prepayment because if I prepaid and they lost or damaged my wedding dress, there would be nothing I could do about it. That’s where it got really weird. First, she laughed. Then she seemed to think my refusal to pay in advance was somehow offensive and that I should apologize to her. She never offered to compromise or offered any kind of guarantee/refund in case of loss or damage to my dress. It was a very awkward interaction that did not inspire confidence in the business. Anyway, I took my dress and left. Yes, I could have gone home, gotten one of my husband’s shirts, had them clean that for a few bucks, and then brought in my wedding dress as an «established» customer, but I’d rather just drive to a cleaner that doesn’t give me a bad vibe. I generally support local businesses because they are flexible and treat customer relationships as valuable, but Georgetown Valet had no interest in compromising or in persuading me to become a regular customer. Given the amount we have to spend on dry cleaning each month in this area, that’s totally their loss. Oh well!

Amazing job cleaning my wedding dress! Price was half of what others quoted in the area as well.

One of the best dry cleaners that I’ve had in the DC-NoVa area. I’ve also had several items tailored here and they’ve done a good job every time. The wait is longer than most places, but not bad. If you live or work around the patent office, this is the place to take your dry cleaning.

This place is not the most affordable. It is a good value for the money considering that I have not had any shirts damaged here during the starch step. Service is convenient. Quality is great. Price is okay considering the convenience.

Since I move with my husband for his work, its always an adventure to find good quality services. After having left the BEST dry cleaner/tailor in the world back in the midwest 7 years ago, no one has really compared since then. This dry cleaner does a great job and has some of the best customer service around. I really like the woman who runs it. Would definitely drive out of my way to use them.

I’m average height for a Filipino girl, which essentially means that I’m pretty short by American standards… which means that having to get pants shortened(even petite/ankle/short lengths) is pretty much a way of life for me. I’ve tried other places in the area, but my go-to tailoring place is Georgetown Valet. The price is pretty much on par with other places around(every place in the area is a bit pricey), but they do an excellent job. They offer the option of using the original hem, the turnaround is fairly quick(a few days), and the lady at the front desk is super nice. I came with a huge stroller, and after I dropped off my item for tailoring and turned to the door to leave, the lady at the front desk got up and rushed to the front door to hold it open for me. Most places just stare at me in amusement while I struggle to simultaneously hold open the door and push the stroller through. So major bonus points for this place!

For now, GT Valet is my go-to for dry cleaning. It’s overall a pretty great dry cleaners. I haven’t tried their tailoring services yet. Their prices aren’t the highest in Alexandria but still not very friendly for the wallet — I’m getting a feeling that’s the trend in this town. For a suit jacket and pair of pants, it was about $ 12 and two day turn around for regular service. Skirts, pants and sweaters are $ 5.95 each. I believe the store has free delivery in the Carlye apartments and has ORGANIC dry cleaning! Also, the girl that works there is super friendly and nice — always a plus when doing mundane errands.

This particular location came highly recommended to me for their tailoring and I have to agree they do a fantastic job! I’ve had several pairs of pants hemmed, dresses and tops taken in, sleeves shortened and they’ve always done a great job. Turnaround time is pretty quick(always less than week for items that were taken in; a couple of days for hemming/shortening) but it is a wee bit pricey(otherwise I’d give it five stars). And the gal that works there has got to be the nicest girl I’ve met — so cheerful!

Great place for your cleaning/sewing. Needed something mended and they did very quickly for me just before closing. Most places wouldn’t have bothered. A friendly and clean place.
