Really love the chocolates they produce. It’s also pretty cool you can watch them make the chocolates right there.

Though I’ve never actually been here my boyfriend has made it a tradition to grab me a box for every birthday, anniversay, valentine’s day & sometimes just because. because that’s how much I love them. The flavors are fantastic and the presentation is very cute. I look forward to getting these decadent little chocolates! Would definitely reccomend to anyone looking to buy thoughtful and delicious gift.

Even though I’ve been meaning to check out other hand made chocolates places, my car has a love affair with this place, and before I know it, I am sitting at their front door. And, at that point, I can’t not go in…
In all seriousness, their truffles are amazing… delicate…artistic. As other mentioned, they are $ 2.25 each and about an inch square but the flavors melded into that little piece of chocolate is divine. I’ve only had one flavor I did not care for – the lavender-​Shiraz (the lavender was too overwhelming) – but everything else I have had was a slice of heaven. OMG, the caramels… and the brandy alexander and the list goes on.
The space is an open warehousy space which gives you a birds eye view of their chocolate operation. The store is just off of Washington Street on the south side of Alexandria. I’ve never had a problem with parking yet.
Not only are these chocolates good for an indulgent treat, but they are amazing for gifts. Their gift box is nothing short of amazing and the recipients are left gasping in awe… it is extremely tasteful (let alone the tastiness inside of the box!).
I highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area…

Eating just one truffle from Fleurir Chocolates teaches you what REAL chocolate should taste like. If you are someone who thinks your weekly (daily?) M&M or Hershey Kiss fix suffices, prepare to be amazed. Coming from someone who certainly doesn’t have a refined palate, I immediately knew I was hooked and would never be able to be content with my cheap processed chocolate ever again.
My favorite by far is the salted caramel, but there are so many other phenomenal flavors to keep me coming back. I became so obsessed with these truffles over the last few years that my husband and I asked Fleurir to make our wedding favors. They were by far the prettiest and tastiest part of the table, and all of our guests raved about their perfection. If you ever need a beautiful gift for a friend, colleague, or family member, these boxes also LOOK phenomenal and ship really well. The packaging and presentation alone has so much attention to detail… it’s no surprise that the chocolate itself is just as perfect.

Overall, this store disappointed. Today, we went on a trip to five different chocolate stores in the DC area, and this store was the least favorite of the five. Sure, it was cool to see the work area in the shop, and sure, the chocolate is standardly high quality. But for high-​quality fancy chocolate, it’s nothing fancy. It wasn’t inspiring, just good. And frankly, good isn’t sufficient for fancy chocolate.

OMG. I was still searching for gift and this little nice chocolate shop save me. My co-​workers and I bought a small gift box (4x piece) for est $ 10. However, it was surprising good. I didn’t expect to find a handmade chocolate shop in the area. Look like I know where to get my chocolate for next february. There are so many combination that you can and personally I love the dark chocolate. I want the irish coffee one but they went out.
I checked the website and there are more chocolate that I want to try later on. Give it a try.

I stumbled upon this cute, teeny tiny chocolate shop while walking around Alexandria, VA one wintery afternoon. Seeing that it had great reviews, I took a chance and walked into the storefront.
The shop itself is simply a counter-​space within a warehouse, but the multitude of customers and displayed chocolate samples peaked my interest. I explained to one of the friendly staff members that I was looking to buy a box of chocolates for a family member, and she provided a menu of their flavors, explaining that the Salted Caramel and Wattleseed Toffee were two of the most popular items. After sampling the Salted Caramel, I was sold– the balance of sweet, salty and caramel hugged by taste buds and left me in chocolate bliss. Being a lover of chocolate, I instantly knew that these chocolates were of high-​quality, not to mention beautifully and uniquely designed. I chose the 25-​piece box which cost around $ 50, and chose to include one of every 18 flavors, plus doubles of certain popular items. The truffle flavors include the aforementioned flavors as well as cheesecake, raspberry, honey lemon, 85% dark chocolate, lime ginger and many more.
Needless to say, my family member quickly devoured the chocolates and raved about them! While the truffles are a little pricey ($ 2.25 a piece), the flavors and beautiful designs make the price worth it!

Everything in this shop is beautiful and delicious! I can’t keep up with every new amazing thing that they create. If you’re in Alexandria (or even if you’re not– it’s worth any detour) definitely check them out.

All of Fleurir’s products are as delicious as they are beautiful. Before visiting their store, I satisfied my need for a sugar fix from whatever I found out the grocery store checkout. After being exposed to Fleurir’s incredible and inventive selection of chocolates, my sweet tooth has gotten a lot more high maintenance. Their truffles are always a solid bet (& make perfect gifts) but I particularly love their seasonal offerings. An added bonus– both the shop & the owners are completely adorable.

Caramel and 85% chocolate truffles oh my oh my oh my. Insanely amazing and indulgent chocolate. Loved the Ganache in the 85% dark and the caramel one was so delicious.
Amazingly sweet staff and great quality chocolate.
Love the growth of Artisan chocolatiers in the area.

My fiancé loved his treat, and asked if I could pick up some more since I was going to be in the area. The small box ran me $ 11 so it’s not something I would particularly purchase on a regular basis, but totally worth it for a splurge!

I love having this place in the neighborhood and I often give the truffles as a gifts. It is high quality and interesting flavors.

I Went to the grand opening party ¹²⁄₁ so this isn’t a review for the normal store experience but the chocolates were so great I wanted to make sure they were listed on Unilocal!The Georgetown location of Fleurir is off the main M St strip so while I walk past their chalkboard often I’ve never actually stopped in. BIG MISTAKE. The chocolates here are amazing!
Because it was an opening I was able to sample a wide variety of products, including their regional bars (a fun concept — they have about six in the line for different areas of the county. the flavors aren’t really that representational of the regions in my opinion but they are delicious and that’s more important. I especially like the Northeast bar which is a dark chocolate with maple pecan toffee, but though the Great Plains bar — dark chocolate with breadcrumbs — was a little lacking in flavor).
Their custom bite-​sized chocolates look gorgeous come in a wide range of intriguing flavors (lavender shiraz is a stand-​out while spumoni was overwhelming unless you really like a chewy pistachio). I bought some winter caramels (flavors: gingerbread, mulled wine and roasted chestnut) and am looking forward to trying them as soon as I recover from all the other chocolate!

So glad I stumbled across this place driving thru Old Town! My wife more than I, since she’s the chocolate lover. She is from Eastern Europe and is particularly fond of Dark chocolate. She said it stood out as some of the Best chocolate she had in her life! That a bold statement folks! We have been all over the world and I make it a point every anniversary, Valentine’s and Mothers Day to get her some gourmet chocolates. This time was just for kicks. Now I know where I’ll be going back for Mother’s Day! :)

I have not been to their new location yet, but I will say that they have the best chocolates I have ever had. Period. For special occasions like anniversary or Valentine’s Day I always ask my husband for a box of their truffles. I first encountered them on a «chocolate walking tour» of Georgetown and I had a salted caramel truffle. It was so amazing. Ever since then they have been my go-​to place for «fancy chocolates».
I know taste is most important, and they are delicious, but I also have to say how cute their chocolates are! Each flavor has a special design and they are so pretty. I also love the boxes that they come in. And every time I have ordered chocolates online, they come so quickly and still taste so fresh!
Men, you should definitely get your ladies some chocolates from Fleurir next time you want to get her something special!

What a great find! Thanks Unilocalers! Excellent handmade chocolates in a little shop in old town. Yes the chocolates are pricey but you get what you pay for in terms of look, taste, and quality. And they give free samples! We bought a box of chocolates as favors for a baby shower and they were just perfect. Beautiful designs on each piece of chocolate make them feel extra special.

This little shop is very cute, a nice chocolate experience that is certain to stay with you long after you have left its doors. Now, this is high-​end chocolate, and those little morsels of coco delight have been pleasing chocolate lovers ever since Fleurir Hand Grown Chocolates opened its doors. However, these chocolates do come at a price, so if you’re thinking that you might cruise out of here with minimal impact to your wallet, think again, Willy Wonka.
Still, the raspberry truffles and hand-​crafted bars are worth the price, for $ 2 a truffle seems a small price to pay for chocolate perfection. Yum!!! I was also intrigued by the hot pepper chocolate bars; this marriage of chocolate and spice makes everything nice.
The shop itself is pristine, and you will certainly admire their production setup. However, as interesting as all this is, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t find more of an array of chocolate confections. One of the things that I enjoy most about a good chocolaterie is how such ships are always a feast for the eye with rows and rows of different chocolate creations. This shop basically contained some colorful square truffles and packaged bars but that was it. As far as the visual appeal goes, this shop was more factory than carnival. However, even with the utilitarian feel of this shop, the chocolate is deliciously decadent.

I stopped by to get a box of custom chocolates for a thank you present. The shop is very clean and cute. The lady who helped me was SUPER HELPFUL selecting the flavors based on my request of dark chocolate and may be semi sweet preference of the receiver.
I wanted to get the ginger flavor, but they didn’t have a perfect one that day, so they couldn’t sell them to me. However, she gave me a couple of «imperfect ones» to take home and they were delicious.
I will always go back to this place because I love it so much and the person receiving the gift really appreciate them and love all the flavors.

This shop is such a gem– I’m going to be buying all of my gifts for loved ones from Fleurir from now on.
The chocolates are tiny works of art. The designs that the chefs paint (I think they paint them?) onto each piece are so beautiful, and makes getting a box of these feel extra special.
I tried the raspberry chocolates, the salted caramels, and the Georgetown candy bar, and everything was delicious. The chocolate wasn’t too sweet, and I thought the flavors were really well balanced. Robert, one of the owners, was so kind, and he let us sample one of the forthcoming flavors: strawberry Gorgonzola. I am not usually an adventurous eater so I was a bit skeptical about that flavor combination, but it was very, very good. Kind of like a rich strawberry cheesecake. Both he and Matt, the other chef working when we visited, are classically trained chefs, and it was obvious they really know what they’re doing.
Fleurir chocolate would be a perfect Valentine’s gift– I will definitely come back and buy some for my family!

As I was thinking of what my 200^th review should be, I realized that I had yet to review the best chocolate shop I’ve been too. So, this is it.
I read about Fleurir in the NYT where they were written up for their salted caramels. Seeing that it was near where I lived at the time in Alexandria, I biked over one Sunday morning to buy some treats to bring to family when I visited. And oh, what treats they were.
The first impression when I walked in was one of pleasant surprise; behind the counter you can see all the equipment they use when making these delectable desserts. There are often two samples out on the counter, which I enjoy because they’re delicious. They have truffles, chocolate bars, hot cocoa mix, and honeycomb, which is a pretty narrow breadth but allows them to achieve the quality that they do.
I’ve sampled almost all the truffles, and of them I think my favorites were the Salted Caramel, Rosebud Cardamom, and Lavender Shiraz. So delicious. The Caramel has a buttery quality that is a nice complement to the salt, the Rosebud is delicate and has hints of cardamom, and the Lavender tastes of wine and has floral notes. So excellent.
I actually enjoyed every truffle I tried, though I will say that if you are nervous or picky, ask the people behind the counters what to expect from different flavors. The Sesame Hazelnut was good, but they were correct in saying it does taste a lot like tahini. If you don’t like tahini, you probably wouldn’t like that flavor.
The staff I encountered were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the products being sold. It was interesting to hear the story of the business, what it’s like, and how it’s grown since the NYT write-​up. It’s a bit hidden away from the main drag of Alexandria (King Street) but is totally worth the trek over. Plus, free 2 hour street parking surrounds the business.
100% win, and a business I will patronize again if I’m in the area.

Dayum. We stopped into Fleurir Chocolates just on a whim and ended up with a full box to take back to the parentals. They’re definitely not Hershey-​level cheap, but the flavours are beyond anything that you’d find in a supermarket — the Sesame Hazelnut and the Wattleseed Toffee are by far my favourites.
They keep at least two different kind of samples on the counter to try out, so we were able to taste the Almond Amaretto and the Maple Pecan Toffee bar out. The staff member who was helping us also let us have some of the «seconds» that weren’t fit for sale — mmm, Raspberry.
Highly recommended and delicious!
