I popped into B&P today for the first time to have my most fav pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses repaired. I cannot say enough about their amazing customer service! Not only did they fix my shades in less than five minutes, they did it for free! I’m a fan for life.;)

I cannot say enough about this business. After years of enduring rude behavior from a high-​end optician around the corner, I walked into B&P and was treated with the utmost respect and professionalism. I had purchased glasses for my son not even a year ago and the (very odd Danish) screws had popped off. Our old optician told us there was no way they could get ahold of the screws (???). B&P made a quick call to the distributor and lo and behold, they are available and at no charge. We have already picked out our next frames since we know we will be back here. We are looking forward to a long respectful relationship. Thank you!

I went in to have minor repairs to my sunglasses and got personal attention from Mark, who made the repairs and spent 10 minutes making sure the glasses fit me correctly. I was very impressed and was surprised at how reasonable the cost was. I highly recommend them!

I hate shopping for eyewear and this place was just awesome. Great selection, super helpful staff and really good prices.
The frames and lenses I purchased were exactly what I wanted. In fact, exceeded my expectations.

After spending and hour and a half at a large chain store I decided to see what this place was all about. Once again Unilocalers saved the day!
I walked in and went to the front desk. I was greeted by a nice receptionist who asked me what I was looking for. They do eye exams there as well. I told her I was looking for some funky frames for wear away from work. She told me to start browsing and that someone would be with me shortly.
I tried in a couple of pairs and knew I was in trouble! I couldn’t find one I didn’t like!
I was greeted be Cinnamon — yes, seriously. She asked what I was looking for and she seemed excited to help me out. She pulled about 6 frames for me to try and I liked all but one pair. Cinnamon was very sweet and complimented me and not the frames. Hey, flattery goes a long way!
She was very knowledgable about not only the frames but about lenses. I told her about my long eyelash troubles and she said they actually made curved lenses for that issue. No one has ever told me that before and I’ve been wearing glasses for 20 years!
I narrowed it down to two pairs and my boyfriend helped me pick the best one.
Cinnamon was not pushy about trying to sell me any extras. Even though I was trying to decide between a $ 600 pair and a $ 200 pair. She also didn’t try to talk me into any expensive lenses.
They do not accept insurance discounts. I had the option to pay in full or pay half now and half in about a week when my glasses are ready.
I will be back for sure! Hidden gem if you are looking for some really unique frames!

An excellent experience, start to finish.
I’ve purchased a few pairs of glasses from Brahm and Powell. It was easy to order them in, the sales people know you and your order, and the price is competitive.
The customer service is top notch. I recently stepped on my glasses. I took them to Brahm and Powell and they fixed them, for free. I’m not sure whether that’s a policy, but they did so without my asking — and did so quickly. In particular, Cinnamon was great — she was on a mission to get my glasses repaired, and had them ready less than half a day later. They’ve won my loyalty, for sure.

When I lived in Old Town, I did a lot of research to find a good optometrist. I have some unique contact lens needs (e.g. torics) and I never had a great experience with the chains. I cannot recall which doctor I saw at B&P, but she spent a ton of time with me to get the prescription right. I ended up with both torics and bifocal contact lens. These are custom lenses and tend to be on the expensive side. I had planned on buying my lenses on the Internet, but it turned out their prices were about the same as the Internet stores. Plus, the service was absolutely exceptional! Later, I bought my latest Maui Jim sunglasses there. Brahm & Powell represent what used to exist before mass chains started up — it’s what I remember as a child — e.g., a small independent office, with exceptional doctors and very helpful staff. Plus, I get to buy local!!! My only problem is that I now live in Texas and need to find a new doctor. If I could get examined and get fitted for new contacts in one visit, I’d actually consider flying up to Alexandria just for a visit to B&P.

Brought in some vintage glasses to have the lenses replaced, after consulting a few places Brahm & Powell had the best price by far. The lady I spoke with even had a display of her personal collection of antique eyewear, so I knew she’d appreciate my frames and treat them with care! Very friendly and helpful staff, and great selection of modern frames as well!

I was looking for a very specific type of frame, and had tried many other shops before I found Brahm & Powell. My experiences with other stores ranged from unsatisfying to horrendous — basically, no one stocked what I was looking for, or had any interest in helping me find it.
Brahm and Powell provided a completely different experience. Allen listened as I explained what I was looking for, and searched through multiple manufacturers’ catalogs to find exactly what I was looking for. I was really impressed with the welcoming, accommodating service, and the tremendous effort made to meet my needs — especially in contrast to every other local optician I visited. This office is truly a local gem, and I highly recommend them — I can’t imagine visiting any other optician in the area again.

I found Brahm & Powell after suffering through some of the chain opticians for several years. I agree with other reviewers that the customer service here is top notch. The staff are efficient and exceptionally friendly in a Mayberry sort of way. I use both contacts and glasses. The folks at Brahm & Powell have done a great job fitting me with both.

I bought a pair of glasses at another optician, and they never fit right. I went back to have them adjusted, and they just made them worse. I was about to throw these glasses out, when I stopped by Brahm & Powell. I was invited to sit down and a staff member immediately discovered the problem, took the glasses to the back, and brought them back superbly and perfectly adjusted (and cleaner than the lenses have ever been). These are now my favorite pair of glasses. I cannot express how impressed I am with the skillful service I received at B&P. And I wasn’t even charged. I will definitely bring my future business to Brahm & Powell.

Outstanding service, great selection of not only frames, but reading glasses, beautiful necklaces with a loop for your glasses (yeah, when you get my age, this will make more sense to you).
I picked up a new pair of glasses today and was thrilled when they were perfect, right out of the case. I have very, very poor eyesight, so glasses are a challenge for me. These folks are the best!

I agree that the high prices here are worth it. I’ve had my rimless, featherweight glasses for about five years now and they’ve been perfect, this following muddling through for some years with an awful pair whose coatings clouded up and flaked off. I was really loathe to get any coatings ever again, but the folks at Brahm & Powell convinced me and these glasses have been outstanding. As far as fitting and choosing the glasses, they were very patient, ran through all the options with me and even stayed open late to complete the transaction. Do yourself a favor and check them out. At least you’ll have a benchmark with which to compare others (and not just opticians) on the meaning of good customer service.

I choose to use these folks, even though my insurance is not accepted there, because of the high level of customer service they have provided. From helping me choose really flattering frames to getting me in short-​notice when my prescription didn’t work perfectly «in real life» (I have sort of a complex prescription and very sensitive eyes)), they really did a great job. Are they the cheapest? No, but they are worth every penny. I highly recommend them.

Allen at Brahm & Powell helped me pick out a beautiful new pair of glasses and a beautiful new pair of prescription sunglasses that I love. I wouldn’t have picked either of them off the shelf if left to my own devices. He was helpful, took plenty of time, and had a good eye to help me find just the right frames.
Neither of those beautiful pairs of glasses was inexpensive, but my rationale is that they’ll be sitting right in the middle of my face all day long, so to me it’s worth spending the money for something that will really help me stand out and look great.
