Judith the esthetician is amazing. She came from another location– their loss. Her waxing is thorough and she puts you at ease. I asked for product recommendations and was ready for her to pick out a thousand dollars worth of stuff to add to my check instead she consulted with me found out what were my major concerns were and selected items accordingly. I gave her my budget and she made sure I knew understood which ones were most important and why and how to properly use them so I was wasting product/​money. After we stayed on budget unlike other spas who try to push you over by $ 50 to $ 100. Definitely will be back for not just the products but a facial with her and of course waxing.

Came here on a whim to check out the products they offer here. Coming from California, I’m use to big box cosmetic stores like sephora and ulta but it was kind of nice coming into a store where they have a specialize select few such as NARS, Bobbi Brown, bumble and bumble. Was greeted by one of the staff people and asked if I needed any help. Asked if they carry Anastasia Beverly Hills line which they didn’t but mentioned Nordstroms carries them. I kept browsing thru the store and remembered there was a duo eyeshadow I really liked from NARS. One of the ladies behind the counter help find the color i was looking for. Wished I knew her name, she was really nice and helpful.

This location is so substandard compared to the one in Clarendon. If you can, avoid this one and make the trip to Clarendon. Whenever I’m here the person who seems to be the store manager is talking about other people in a gossipy, mean spirited nature. The staff aren’t always helpful or knowledgeable about their products — which are VERY EXPENSIVE. During one of several visits, a staff took it upon themselves to push back the awning on my baby’s stroller because «babies usually like to see what’s happening around them.» (Thanks lady, but I know my own baby and at that particular moment I didn’t need him to be stimulated by the lights and people streaming around the cramped space).

I work in Old Town and always like to walk around to shops during my lunch. I had a very unpleasant experience here. They don’t welcome or greet you when you’re the only person in the store. When I walked in, there were 3 people working, but none of them bothered to ask me if I needed any help. Also, they looked at me like I couldn’t buy anything, therefore I bought a brush, but I returned it the next day when I know I can get a better service and points in Sephora. I agree with the other reviewers that they have a poor attitude and seem like they don’t want to work therer.

I had an amazing facial at this location. They were able to fit me in last minute, and gave me some great tips to keep my skin beautiful thru the summer!

Went to see Judith for a La Mer facial earlier this month and it was by far one of the best facials I’ve ever had in my life! She was so nice and really went above and beyond to make it enjoyable and relaxing. She also gave me the official best brow wax and tint of my life. I will definitely be back! I would say the only downside is is that the walls aren’t thick enough to block out noise from the front of the store, so it takes a bit of focus to tune out the chatter and foot traffic. Overall, Judith is fantastic and I highly recommend! Also, I live in Arlington, and I still would drive out to Alexandria to see Judith over going to the one in Clarendon out of convenience.

I’ve been to this store a handful of times for almost the past two years. Each time is the same, the employees never acknowledge me or anyone else who walks in. I always have to ask for someone to assist me because they just hang out at the register talking. Being ignored and rude can make the customer feel uncomfortable. This location needs to improve their customer service.

I agree with the previous posts that the staff will ignore you as you walk in the door & continue conversing among themselves, I’m so grateful for Rachelle assistance as her 3 coworkers continued there convos bout a spin class. She was able assist me in finding my beloved Laura Mercier high coverage concealer & gave me suggestions on other products to try. I’m surprised this store is still striving in Old Town based on the rude employees whom ignore customers. If your not sure what you need this might not be the location 4 you but if you know what you want & want to spend less than 10 mins in the store than yeah this could be location for you!!!

I live and work in the Alexandria area, and have shopped at this Blue Mercury location several times. However, each time was increasingly unpleasant. The staff ignored me each time I entered the store, and was rude to me when I asked to purchase a product. The overall attitude of the staff was that of annoyance towards the customers.
My first time at the store was horrible, as I was unfamiliar with the company. I was ignored and left wandering around confused, and when I asked for help, the employee shrugged me off and was incredibly rude and impatient with explaining things to me.
Each time I have been back, I have been greeted with the same amount of rudeness if not more.
I will absolutely not be returning to this location, and will be taking my business elsewhere. The complete lack of customer service is unacceptable for the amount of money I spend here.

I love BlueMercury for all of their product lines — Bumble&Bumble and Bobbi Brown, especially — but I’m always a bit surprised by how inattentive the staff is. I live in OT and walk-​in every month or so for a new product. I have yet to be greeted by anyone that works there and then when I do ask for help — whether to pull outa specific product so I can purchase it or to ask a recommendation on dry shampoo — I always feel like I’m putting them out.
I would recommend that the BlueMercury management look into this since I’m clearly not the only person who has noticed this. Again, I don’t think it’s that the staff is UNfriendly, it’s just that they don’t go out of their way to be helpful.

Friendliest and most helpful staff, talented artists, and the best waxer in the 703 (or 571). I just got my brows and upper lip waxed from Joanne, and she was so gentle, she made me feel so comfortable, and very hygienic! Most importantly, she did an amazing job on my brows~ and I’m so picky on how I like them done. She was amazing and I highly recommend her!

So I love Bluemercury because they sell Trish McEvoy, Nars, and Creed. However, this particular location is rude and fails to acknowledge all customers equally. The location in Clarendon provides much better service, which somewhat makes up for the lack thereof at this one. I’ve never even been asked «May I help you» here. They will look up, see me enter, and continue doing whatever they «weren’t» doing. I finally did a customer feedback at the encouragement of my fiancé. I got an email apologizing and the «district manager» called and basically apologized because she (probably) had to (which is what it felt like). Disappointment to say the least.

Got a text the night before my wedding (8 PM ish) from a makeup artist. Didn’t seem like she was interested in doing my makeup based on her verbiage. I’m happy to take my business elsewhere based on the attitude.

Follow up: I did cancel and Rachelle offered to do my makeup at her home. My guess is to pocket the money for herself?
Follow up: never heard back from Blue Mercury about the issue and attitude. I ended up at Circe and I’m so happy I went there instead! Highly recommend them. Will never set foot in Blue mercury again. They don’t care about their customers at all.

I was referred to the Bluemercury cosmetics store by my wonderful hairdresser just down the street from them, who recommended a concealer that they happen to carry. I walked into the shop, the only customer, to see 3 assistants clustered around the register at the back. None of the three greeted me or said hello. When I eventually attracted the attention of one and explained the product I was looking for, she was stand-​offish. The other two whispered and smirked to one another behind their hands while I was finding my product, finally asking me where I was from. The concealer, which to their credit they did have in stock, rang up as more expensive than the staff has told me it was. I won’t be back.

Was here a few days ago and the service was great. Molli could not have been nicer and steered me to great products for my skin type. Been to other ones, but have never been treated so well.

I’ve been in this store a few times. They have a variety of products. Unfortunately, they do not sell some of the products that are sold through the website in the actual store (like Clinique). LaShawn. Unfortunately, we were not able to find a pencil or kit close to my eyebrow color. She suggested that I maybe try using my dark brown eyeliner as a brow pencil (which I will try). I did however, find a skin care item that I’ve been searching for quite some time. LaShawn and her associate were helpful in explaining how to use the product. Overall a good experience. Wish the store had a little more product variety though.

I have bushy Asian eyebrows. Regular grooming is required, lest I get grandpa eyebrows, the kind where the hair grows every which way, including straight down into my eyes. So on a recent Saturday afternoon, I called and was able to get a same day appointment. I was about three weeks overdue. Joanne trimmed, waxed (blue hard wax, no strips), and plucked. Despite all of the work, there was zero redness. No random strays.
The Old Town Bluemercury is small, with just one treatment room. Same great products as the bigger locations. You can find nearby parking in the neighborhood, just try a block or two off King Street.

Did the the City of Alexandria target Dupont retailers to revitalize King St. If so, I’m that they did. Bluemercury has an awesome array of skin care products, make-​up and large, pricey candles. The store also features a spa that offers skin care and grooming services.
