Mylandre Hair Salon Spa Clinic Old Town Alexandria

I went in to this salon to get a quick pedicure done. The door was first closed and no one seemed to be inside even though I had made an appointment day before. I was shortly greeted inside by an older lady who had a thick French accent. Not only she didn’t know how to do a pedicure, she was not prepared. Her tools were laying around on the table, some things were fallen on the floor. I should have refused her service right away, but I was polite and went ahead with it. I got there at 3:00 and I kid you not she was not done with my nails until 4:30. What’s worse is that she didn’t know how to paint my nails. The mainicure and pieces of cotton were stuck on top and on the sides of my nails. The manicure was smeared as a result that the polish was outdated. What makes it worse and sick to my stomach is that she had decency to charge me 55 dollars for it. I usually go to the Asian nail salon near me where they do a quick nice pedicure that lasts for 2 weeks and costs only 35 dollars. Please don’t waste your money here. I was almost in tears as i had the worst experience of all time. Also, whoever is giving this place more than 3 stars obviously works there or is trying to save their business. I truly hope that the place shuts down. Ruining clients hair, failing to do a decent pedicure and overcharging for a shitty service is no way to run a business.

Mylene is such a kind lady, and I really like the personalized attention she has given me while recieving colon hgdrotherapy services. She really knows her stuff.

I really enjoyed both of my colon hydrotherapy sessions provided to me by Mylene herself. I liked that Mylene was very flexible; I was able to get an appointment right away. I could tell that Mylene had a wealth of experience; she had a wealth of beneficial knowledge to share with me, which I appreciated very much. I also liked that the service was very personal; in my previous experiences receiving colon hydrotherapy, I’ve been left alone while I was attached to the colon machine (for lack of a better description) after I was hooked up, which I did not like at all. I have already made my third appointment for colon hydrotherapy and I am looking forward to it. Thank you Mylene!

I came in for a mani/​pedi a couple of hours before a wedding. Not sure where to start. I asked my technician the cost of a pedicure. She had no idea and made no attempt to find out. I should have left at that point, but I was very short on time.
There were then 2 technicians working on my feet. One must have been in training and the other was training her. They instantly began to call out the problems with my toes/​feet. They insisted on cutting my cuticles which is something I only allow very skilled professionals to do. When I refused they did it on some toes anyway.
It took over an hr just to finish my basic pedicure, so I had no time for a manicure. Although the «expert» applied the polish, I still ended up with polish on my skin not just on the nail… no base coat and no top coat. Once out of the chair I learned they did not have nail dryers. At least they let me leave with the freebie flipflops. When all was said an done, I paid over $ 50 for the worst pedicure I’ve ever had.

I needed to get my hair touched up last year. I’m platinum blonde so frequent touch ups are in order. I walked by Mylandre when I was in the area and while it was a little old fashioned, it didn’t seem so dingy. Fast forward– they completely OVER PROCESSED my hair. They either overlapped the existing bleach with my hair or let it sit for too long, because I experienced a horrendous chemical cut. I literally started crying/​screaming when they rinsed my hair and to my horror, I saw how much hair I had lost. This place should NOT be in business. A client should NEVER have to worry about chemical cut. Not only did I receive no apology or concession– they actually told me it looked good and that «all blondes lose some hair in the coloring process.»
Please stay away from this business. Or at least ask to see their hair certifications before starting a service. I’m honestly shocked they are still in business.

Where do I start…
I had to make an appointment three times to get in here as the first two times I had to call to confirm and they didn’t have me on their schedule.
When I got there I was about 10 minutes late due to traffic, so I heard the owner tell the other lady working on me to finish at 50 minutes instead of the full hour. they couldn’t even spare me 10 minutes.
The facial I got was pretty good, no real complaints there. However the french lady who did my hot stone massage was AWFUL. Literally. THE worst massage ever. She was very touchy and I felt as if I was being felt up. very uncomfortable. She also left the room early and never cane back. she didn’t even tell me to get dressed. so I was laying on the table for like 15 minutes wondering if she’s coming back or what.
Last but not least they tried to sell me over priced products saying I’m getting a 20% discount when I know damn well thats not the case. They are a rip off. Don’t go here!!!

I will never go back to Mylandre Spa because it is such a scam! First off, the lady that did my massage literally gave me a breast exam in the process. Maybe I’ve never gotten a real massage, but I wasn’t into being felt up; but that’s neither here nor there. The WORST part about the spa is that they tried to sell me some Lumene moisturizer for $ 75 and I already knew that the Lumene cost $ 19 at CVS. Crooks! Don’t get robbed at Mylandre Spa!

I’m giving one star because I can’t rate it negative 5 stars!!! Made an appointment for 2 mani-​pedis for 2 people, they called back to change appointment as they were not open the day I scheduled. When we arrived, we were ignored and when finally greeted we were informed there was only one nail technician. 3.5 hours later, we ran out frustrated and upset with the worst mani-​pedis in our lives. It was like Lucy and Ethel. No one knew what they were doing, where anything was there was water leaking all over the floor and it was freezing cold. A five year old could have done a neater polish. It was such a messy polish job, I was astonished that this place could actually stay in business. Run the other way. Do not waste your money or time.

NO NO NO NO!
In November I made an appt for 2 people to have pedicures. The «owner» took my credit card info over the phone in case I cancelled.- fine.
When I arrived to my apt, not only did they not write down my appointment, but the other owner (a french woman) was rude to me acting as if I had mistaken the days. They didn’t know where she had written down my credit card information, and she was very very slow in helping fix the situation.
My mom needed a pedi, so we came back and hour later for pedis.
We came back, waited 20 minutes and then we were seated in the back.
One of the chairs was leaking onto the floor, so i slipped getting into the chair and split open my toe. blood everywhere. So now I’m really pissed, and I didn’t want them to touch me or try and give me first aid, but the owner insisted and put a band aid on my toe while my mom got a pedicure. During the pedicure the woman was rude to my mom, making fun of her feet and calling them difficult. (my mom gets a pedicure at least once a month if not more)
The owner wouldn’t stop talking or leave us to just sit and relax at any point, it was terrible.
IN the end my mom spent $ 100 bucks there for me to have a horrible experience, split open my toe, potentially have my credit card info stolen, and only have 9 toes painted.
DO NOT GO HERE! SPA is not clean or friendly. YOU CAN DO BETTER YOURSELF AT HOME.

I was really impressed by this place. I was a little worried based on the other reviews here, but I found the owner charming and lovely to talk to. The services here are top notch– one of the best places in the entire metro area.
I had a facial here, which was the best facial I’ve had in a long time. The owner explained why I was having certain issues, and the best way to take care of them.
I highly recommend this salon and spa. Oh, and a helpful hint is that they have a parking lot in the back. Very important in Old Town!

Buyer beware. This is the least professional salon/​spa I have ever been to. My mother, future sister-​in-​law, and I went to get facials to celebrate my mom’s birthday. We asked to have appointments at the same time so we could start and finish at the same time. They said they could do it… but when we got there, there were 2 women for three people. They put me and my mom in the same room with the same woman and charged us twice!!! I’ve never been in the same room with anyone for a facial and we both got half a facial for the price of 2! NEVER AGAIN!!!

After Mara repeatedly fixed others’ mistakes on my hair, I’ve been going to her exclusively for 4 years and never been tempted to stray. She does wonderful cuts and color, and always provides personal attention to what works for your hair and your lifestyle. Plus, she’s warm and charming! I have recommended her to many friends. She’s now at the Mylandre Spa (222 Cameron St., Old town Alexandria).

I do not recommend this place. I wanted a manicure and thought I’d just pop in to check it out — no appointment. I wish I had read these reviews prior. Same exact situation — very outdated salon, rude owner (who talked on her phone in french the entire time and her husband). The women that did my nails took 50 minutes just to file them into these awful pointy claws. She then started to work on my cuticles but it was so painful that it got to the point where I said I ran out of time and would finish /​polish them myself at home just to get her to stop. Also, in addition to nails the women does hair. She told me how she hated washing customers hair and when she had rude customers she would intentionally soak them with water and act like it was an accident. Nice little insight to her approach to customer service.

UNPROFESSIONAL, DIRTY AND RUDE STAFF WITH FRADULENT PRACTICES!
Don’t know how this place manages to stay in business. I set up an appointment for a colonics session because I wanted to compare to see the differences between the systems used (closed vs open) and the price. When I walked in, I saw an outdated/​old salon that was a bit messy and not very «spalike».
The receptionist escorted me upstairs to a room, preparing the room for the colonics. When the colonic hydrotherapist arrived, I realized it was the SAME person who had just finished cutting the person’s hair downstairs! She was a French lady that claims that she had been administering colonics in France and the US for over 45 years. They had a different location in Alexandria, but moved to this location 9 years ago. Again, don’t understand how they have managed to stay in business for so many years!
The hydrotherapist was not very gentle, which is a very important for this type of procedure. She didn’t explain what she was doing, which made it more unsettling and uncomfortable. When I started feeling cold water flowing, I mentioned it to her and for 10 minutes she continued until I finally told her the water was too cold. She realized this and we proceeded to another machine/​room. She started yelling/​blaming her staff in front of me, which I felt was extremely unprofessional. She would continue on and on about how the above wasn’t her fault, and that it was the machines fault and her staff’s fault for not checking the system and making sure it was functioning properly. As I was about to lay down on the bed, I noticed black hair on the sheets. I asked her if the sheets were cleaned, and she said that it was, but would change it out again. She started yelling again and blaming her staff until I asked her to stop and that it was making the experience most uncomfortable. She wouldn’t stop talking, and made the entire experience stressful and not very relaxing. She also tried to tell me that her HUSBAND could fill out insurance papers to have the health insurance reimuburse me for this colonics session, which in my opinion is FRAUD. No insurance company will allow you to be reimbursed for this type of procedure, except those that are administered in a hospital.
I felt like leaving at that time (I wished I had), but we had already began.
THESE PEOPLE DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND CLEARLY HAVE UNSANITARY, DIRTY PRACTICES – BEWARE!
