Our thermostat magically broke down one weekend in the cold of winter (meaning no heat). After seeing the reviews on Unilocal,I sent Harder an email Sunday night, but did not hear back electronically. So, I called the following Monday afternoon and was surprised to hear that they could fit me into their schedule the very next day at 8 am. The electrician arrived promptly at 8 and fixed our thermostat within a few minutes — holy crapoli — we had heat again!!! I also told him about another problem we were having with our electrical wiring in our pantry/​laundry room. Since he was there, he went ahead and fixed this problem as well (even though it was not a priority like the heat). The bill was reasonable and we really appreciated getting prompt and efficient service. They take credit cards onsite. I would use again.

You will not find a better company for your electrical and mechanical needs than Harder Electrical and Mechanical Services. Dave is absolutely the best — always on time, always upbeat, always fair. Whether is it a new install or changing over our AC to the furnace (or furnace to AC), Dave is the man to call.

To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. A simple 4 hour job turned in to an 8 hour nightmare. After paying a $ 1000 for a job that was half done I would never recommend this company. To make matters worse an item of ours was broken by the electricians and never replaced. Don’t make the mistake that we did, look elsewhere for a qualified electrician.

On the basis of sterling reviews, I contacted Harder for a project to convert my over-​the-​range kitchen exhaust vent system from recirculating to exterior venting. After they canceled 2 appointments to come out and scope the job, I told them to just forget about it. I concluded either they really didn’t want to consider the job or the blown appointments were an indication of their lack of dependability.

Excellent service. I called Dave Harder on a bitterly cold Friday this winter (January, 2015) when my well pump went out. Even though he had jobs scheduled that morning, Dave fit in a visit. The problem turned out to be a blown circuit box — installed back in 1979. Dave made a temporary fix to get the water on and to keep the pump from freezing during the weekend. He came back later to replace the circuit box. Profession in every way — showed up when he said he would, correctly diagnosed the problem, fixed it properly, charged me very fairly, and left a clean, neat work site behind. I recommend him absolutely and with no reservations.

Dave Harder and his assistant installed a range hood vented to the outside for us. There was more work involved than we anticipated, but they did what was necessary to get the job done in a short period of time and we are very happy with his work. Spring, 2014 our evaporative cooler needed to be replaced and we called Dave again. He told us if we had any problems with the new cooler and thermostat he installed that he personally guarantees his work for one year, so that was good to hear. The cooler operated great all through the summer of 2014. We called Dave in May, 2015 as we needed to have the cooler started up for the summer of 2015. Dave cleaned and oiled the cooler. He also installed four best quality pads. Dave and his employees are cheerful and positive people and are always on time for their appointments with us. We recommend Harder Electrical & Mechanical Services with confidence. They will do the job right.

Like most residents of this strange town, we cool our home during the summer with something we affectionately call a «swamp cooler». Dear foreigner, don’t get any wild ideas. Ain’t no Creature from the Black Lagoon livin’ up on my roof. It’s basically a big ol’ metal box that uses this futuristic technology (via the 1850’s) to capture evaporated water into waffle-​ish pads and the air gets pumped into my house for decent… eh, make that piss-​poor temperature control. The whole thing is a sham. It’s ridiculous. The whole thing. To think of the time I’ve wasted trying to make that bastard work. Ahem.
Like most residents, my swamp cooler is also directly connected to my furnace. Unlike most homeowners in the U.S., New Mexicans must make a decision to switch from cooling (swamp) to warming (furnace) all at once. It involves sliding a metal slab into the swamp beast, cleaning the box, draining the water line and correctly hooking up the heater. It isn’t complicated but I’ll be damned if I don’t repeatedly fuck this up, somehow. I’ve been through enough trial and massive error to accept the fact that I need to pay a professional to do it right. This year, I Unilocaled for help.
Dave from Harder arrived as scheduled and distinguished my manhood in about 45 minutes. Our furnace is in full effect and the Creature is hibernating happily on the roof. Dave is a really interesting dude and he’s efficient. Thanks, Unilocal

Called Dave upon Friday October 31 as our heater had stopped working and set a time for him to come out on Tuesday November 4^th. Arrival was right on schedule and the problem was a bad circuit board. Replaced promptly and all works as normal. Pricing was very fair and Dave is awesome at what he does! Support this business as we need to keep him around!

Dave came out, inspected my furnace, and made helpful suggestions about maintenance. He does great work and I highly recommend their services.

I gave these guys a call when my normal heating and plumbing guys couldn’t get to me for another 8 days. They had an appointment set up in the next 24 hours.
They asked for a contact number, and they had to (and thankfully did) use it when the technician who was scheduled to come had an emergency to deal with. It was only a one hour delay but I was glad to be kept in the loop.
When the technician arrived (right on the dot too), he took a look at my swamp cooler, told me what needed to be done, and admitted that he didn’t have all the right equipment. He called a technician at another job who did have the parts, and that one came, did the job, and was very quick about it too.
Part of the reason I’m so grateful for these guys is apparently the screens for my swamp cooler were positively ancient, even though I had gotten a new unit, and my regular handyman had just turned it on (and never told me about the age of the screens). When the tech took them off, they disintegrated.
What I thought was a simple job, turned out to be much harder. Harder Electrical and Mechanical made this very simple and easy for me. I highly recommend them, especially if you like being kept in the loop.

Dave was very professional, courteous, and quick. Also, he was very well priced and excited about the work he does. I would recommend him to anyone needing hvac or electrical work done.

Called them in August with a furnace problem I had left over from last year. Dave came out, diagnosed the problem, and repaired with parts/​test equipment he had with him. He also gave a general inspection of the furnace, tested the gas valve, etc.
All very professional, competent, and responsive.

I called Harder Electrical and Mechanical becasue our furnace was recycling too often, He happened to be in the neighborhood, and so he came within ½ hour. I don’t expect that everyday, because the work he did was so good and efficient that he is and will continue to be busy. After fixing tht problem, he put our swamp cooler to bed for the winter. I really appreciate the good work we had done today, and will call Harder Electrical and Mechanical Services again.

Finding good contractors or service people is a challenge, so I figured I would share this team of professional and reliable people that we originally engaged with to conduct our home inspection for Heating & Air Conditioning/​HVAC. We then had them come in and repair an AC unit and swap out the thermostats. Since then, we’ve had them come in and help with electrical work and plumbing including the installation of a water softener. Dave Harder is a great guy and stands behind the quality and satisfaction with his work. His team are equally professional and pleasant to work with.
