I come by this place from time to time for a quick lunch and I haven’t been disappointed yet. I get the Rib combo which consists of a rib, and piece of really good, freshly fried chicken, a side, and a drink for less than $ 8. It’s hard to beat the low prices and good food at Golden Pride.

As a non-native Albuquerquian it took me a while to discover some of the places that my friends took for granted. Golden Pride was one of those places. First for the positives: this is pretty good fast food! On a chicken sandwich I had there was actual leaves of lettuce(a pleasant change from terrible-tasting shredded lettuce at other fast food places). The food is pretty good quality too; especially those tortillas. THOSE. TORTILLAS. They are some of the best in the city(and I love having them in bulk for taco night at home.) For the downsides: this location is fairly difficult to get out of, especially when things are busy. It can take a while for your food to be ready, and the area that they have you pull forward into is a nightmare to back out of since you’re backing directly into the drive-through line. Keep in mind that this is fast food as well. Although the tortillas are amazing, don’t go expecting gourmet cuisine. As long as you know what food you’re going there for this is a solid place. Just be careful pulling out onto Juan Tabo.

I was visiting family that lives in Albuquerque and discussing the local breakfast options. My teenage nephew says lets get breakfast burritos at Golden Pride. I am like, ok, thanks for your input but grown folks(the ones with the money) are making the decision. I also was in town for just a couple of days and was not looking to waste a meal of some place called Golden Pride that has bbq in the name. So, we end up at Golden Pride and the drive through super crowded. Maybe the kid is right? I ordered the carne adovada breakfast burrito. It was DELICIOUS. I wish there was a Golden Pride in Las Vegas(Nevada) The food was hot and fresh. Tortillas must have been freshly made because they were amazing. The quick serve restaurant is small but it looks like most patrons get their food to go. The service was friendly, the lady at the counter helped my put together and order my burrito exactly how I wanted it. Tip: order more than 1 breakfast burrito, it is a little on the small side. Enjoy!

In the many years I have been visiting this location I have not had one single issue. My order is always made to the T(and I can occasionally be very picky). Incredibly fast service. No complaints whatsoever. A highly recommended New Mexican staple, in my very honest opinion. Delicious green chile!

I never thought there would come a day when I would give the Golden Pride a bad review! Today is the day. I’ve been going there with my family for years. Chicken, tostadas or breakfast burritos. All worth returning for. I like burrito #9 with extra crispy bacon and green chile which has good flavor, and mild/med heat. So why the low score? Because they are now charging for those little packets of picante sauce! You get one for free and have to pay 15¢ each for extra. One? Really? They have got to be kidding! I’m sure some customers don’t take any sauce. For some, one is enough, but I like more. This place makes buckets of money! Just take a look at their takeout line on weekend mornings. There are Golden Prides all over town. And let’s not forget their real cash cow, Frontier Restaurant by UNM. So with all that, they are going to be so CHEAP as to charge for condiments! Give me a break! As a customer, I expect certain things be available to me… napkns, salt, ketchup for my French fries, and picante sauce for my burritos. Should be to my taste! Basic, right? So now I am on quest to find another place for my breakfast burrito. I’m sure I’m not the only one who will leave on principle! I can’t stand cheap!

This is our«Go To» local joint for tasty breakfast burritos on the go. They use fresh green chile and homemade tortillas. Unfortunately the tortillas have ingredients I am not fond of like HFCS and the eggs are certainly either powdered or something else. The cheese is also a little processed looking upon closer examination. Their chicken is very tasty, my favorite is the smoked with their BBQ sauce. The sides are sub par, canned soggy green beans, instant tasting mashed potatoes, etc. I do enjoy supporting local and I know in order to keep the prices reasonable they have to cut some corners.

Love the food, love the service. The bbq sauce is so wonderful. They are super quick and always get our order right. I’m keeping the 5th star because I think they could spend a bit of money and improve their parking lot and dining room to accompany more people. You definitely can’t go here with a large party.

I’m not a big green chile kind of guy, but I’m a whole new man when visiting Albuquerque. The green chile is so good. Each meal while in town is a quest to find the best food that has the one and only real green chile. Here at Golden Pride are the morning treasures of warm goodness wrapped into a delightful roll of manliness and also known as breakfast burritos. These burritos are what truly make a great start to the day. Each time I order and eat I find myself saying why did I not order another. Can’t go wrong with any of the numbers on the menu. This is the place to get your green chile fix for breakfast hands down.

The breakfast burritos do not disappoint! I have tried the #7, #9 and # 11, all delicious and fresh. The green chili used is top rate. We ONLY purchase our tortillas here by the dozen. Store bought tortillas do not hold a candle to these. They are good all by themselves. Mmmmm, I’m hungry just thinking about them.

Western Style hash browns can’t be beat. Neither can the quick service. Breakfast burritos shouldn’t be missed either. Take a dozen tortillas home with you when you’re done.

Hands down, it’s the best fast food in Albuquerque! Absolutely love their smoked chicken. Their fried chicken is great, too. I do miss having a choice of rice pilaf, which was one of their side dish choices. The green beans are OK. Really like the spicy beans and coleslaw. Breakfast burritos are the best in town, as are their delicious carne adovada burritos! I’ve ordered their tortillas, frozen Frontier Rolls to take to friends in other parts of the US. It’s been an Albuquerque«institution» for decades. I remain a loyal customer!

I have been waiting 15 minutes for my food at the drive thru and then they bring me soggy food that is leaking through the bag. No explanation or apology whatsoever for why my food is taking such a long time. Manager showed NO empathy or concern over my issues. Will never go back!

Last week I tried the venerable Albuquerque institution of Golden Pride. I went to the Juan Tabo location, which I don’t know if it’s the best location or not. It was 7pm on a Friday night, so you can guess how busy it was. Despite that the staff were very prompt and friendly. I ordered the 10-piece with two sides. I picked slaw and mashed potatoes n gravy, with a side order of fries. I tried the sides; they weren’t great but they worked. The chicken, on the other hand, was terrific, the right amount of breading with the meat juicy and flavorful. Our family will definitely be back to one of their locations.

#9 with red chili, simply, rocks. Avoid the BBQ ribs, they smell and taste odd. Try the rotisserie chicken, pretty tasty and fall-off-the-bone. The fried chicken is super greasy, be careful the first bite is hot. This place is basic and great for unrefined pallets, except for the breakfast burritos. The staff is nice and usually gets it right at the drive up window.

I really don’t get the love; the burritos seem quite salty and the fried chicken is so-so. I keep going back, just because everyone loves it so, so maybe I’m missing something. But I’m getting close to having sampled the whole menu…
