After visiting this place 5 – 8 times over the last year I have to update. The Korean food is good but not enough to offset the service. The way they run their business is such an inconvenience to customers. It has been consistently irritating for a year. I have begun to dread dealing with them like I dread calling the cable company.

Definitely not the greatest, but it’s not too shabby either. I came here w/a group sometime last year for the bulgogi for a Korean food fix — the bulgogi & the side dishes were decent. how the server accommodated us could be worked on a little more as I felt that he was all over the place trying to serve everyone in the dining area. I have not yet tried their other menu items yet — but I’m also not sure if I will be returning any time soon.

This is a must do when in Albuquerque and when you go you really want to order the Korean Bulgogi. It is an amazing experience for lunch or for dinner. The lunch special includes egg drop soup and a few sweet cream cheese wontons so if you go for dinner try both! The egg drop soup is the best I have ever had and the sweet cream cheese wontons are amazing! Also try their pot stickers and make sure to use their soy sauce blend. Come once, then keep coming back. You won’t regret it!

Fresh, delicious & great service. Really appreciate the hands-on management of the owners. Clean & nice themed décor. Would like to be able to order a beer or wine with dinner; but their teas are delicious!

The food is amazing. The true jewel is in the kitchen. Chris, the host however leaves a lot to be desired. He’s very fussy and he rushes his guests to make the meal decision. My menu was on the table less than a minute and he was there to take the order. I took a stab in the dark and ate what I got. The young kid helping him should not have to split the tip. I won’t be going back.

Good but Americanized, both the Korean and Chinese food are better than average. Remember this is Albuquerque, not LA nor San Francisco nor Sunnyvale, so they’ve had to curve the flavors to the local pallets for the sake of economic success and survivability. It’s sad but true. They are kind and eccentric with customer service. The lunch specials are very good, clear spicy sweet and sour pork at #2 level of spiciness is the way to go. The sweet and sour sauce and sweet mustard are mixed, not from a jar. The cream cheese fried wontons have home made cheese and are delicious. If you want more traditional Korean food, ask for it. Sometimes there are a few items not on the menu.

I was there for lunch and all I can think of is going to back. I had the spicy Korean chicken. While I don’t think it’s an authentic Korean dish, it is so unbelievably delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I plan to go back for dinner to just to experience the dinner menu as well. Cream cheese wontons were wonderful to help mellow out the spiciness of the chicken. It made my eyes tear and lips burn… my favorite type of spicy. So so good.

Fu Yuang is an interesting place. There are only about twelve tables available for seating, so if you don’t go early it can be difficult to find a place. Posted on every table is a notice telling you that they don’t like credit cards, which is understandable, but the notices are overbearing and definitely can take enjoyment out of your meal. The service is perhaps the most variable, as it’s either attentive or incredibly slow. There’s no communication between the two servers about which tables they’re covering either, so on occasion you’ll see the other waiter try to take a group’s order that they already gave. I found on my two dining experiences that they also tended to rush getting you the bill and out the door, usually while I was still in fact eating. While it’s probably so that they can seat more customers at your table, it definitely didn’t add to the enjoyment of my meal. The food was fine, but the Chinese portion is nothing worth writing home about. It is about as standard as any cheap Americana Chinese shop you can find around. I hear the Korean portion is where it shines, and I liked the bulgogi well enough, but I’m not sure it’s worth the service you’d get here. The meat itself seemed fatty, and in general the taste wasn’t particularly outstanding, but it was good for a filling meal. Then again, if you’re craving bulgogi and need an immediate fix, I think this is a fine place to go. It’s just not my kind of restaurant.

Korean and Chinese specialties. Everything is delicious, and home cooked. Family owned and they’ve been a part of Albuquerque forever! Must try the Korean chicken wings and the vegetarian egg rolls. Even a basic fried rice is amazing.

If I travel to ABQ, I make this place one of the stops while I’m here. I absolutely love the bulgogi. Some folks may say it’s not authentic. Perhaps, but it’s authentic enough for me. AND having it at lunch for about $ 10 is much more of a culinary bargain than McD’s can provide. The kimchi came as a side, along with other pickled delicacies. The cream cheese wonton appetizer that comes with your lunch meal is simple, yet wonderful. Soup also comes with lunch. If you are lucky and it’s the once or twice a year they make their egg drop soup with Korean short ribs, jump on it. The customer service is exceptional. As often as we have been here, I apologize that only now am I writing a review that is long overdue. The waiter I believe is the owner and his wife is the cook. He’s a hoot even when they are slammed at lunch! For the haters, again I’d like to say for under $ 10 you get a very generous lunch. I will continue to come back each time I’m in town.

With there being many good ratings I was expecting something very good but was quite disappointed. First off Korean Bulgogi should be grilled. The stuff I was served was kind of braised. I wanted the char that is on good Bulgogi. The meat was tender but was like it had been marinated until it was mushy. The kimchi sides were mediocre at best. None had the complex taste of fermented kimchi.

With ‘high rate’ I was expecting descent Korean dishes, but what we got was below par value. Korean kimchi stew was bland and no flavor at all. They suppose to use fermented kimchi but Chinese cabbage for kimchi they used was probably marinated just with salt. Also not sure why they put Mexican pepper in Kimchi stew. Korean BBQ Rip was beyond belief! There were total 15 small pieces with each size of two chicken nuggets. Worst of all, there were no meat attached to bones. And, what ever meat was attached, mostly were just fat with not much meat. They must used lot of sugar since all I can taste was just sweet teriyaki sauce and no other flavor. Korean vegetable with glass-noodle(made with potato flour) did not come anything close to ‘jjap chae’ that you normally eat at the Korean restaurant. It was more close to Chinese chop-sue than Korean vegetable noodle(jjap chae). Just two be fare, I visited them twice before made this comments. Definitely they are not Korean restaurant, but they can maybe claim to be fusion if still want to claim to be Korean restaurant.

Fu Yuang is a bit of a hidden gem, It’s not the easiest to find but worth the search. We went to Fu Yuang with a group of friends who often go out to eat. We were greeted by our upbeat and very passionate server who did a pretty good job working all of the tables along with another server(whom I have since found out was likely his son). The place was not fancy but was kind of what I come to expect of asian restaurants in the area. However, the food was very good! Lots of flavor and a unique twist. Half of our table ordered the bulgogi and really enjoyed it. I ordered Korean Sweet and Sour chicken. Mine was good, but I was a bit upset since, I had accidentally combined two meal descriptions and thought mine would be stir-fried, not deep fried(but this was my fault and I do not hold it against them). So, overall it was a good meal. However, while our server was passionate and pretty good, he forgot one of our appetizers, and one of the meals was brought out about 5 minutes after everyone else’s. Also, there was a lot of confusion over the pickled items brought to the table and whose dish they went with. That aside, if I am ever craving korean, I would certainly head back.

Best bulgogi in Albuquerque, hands down. Go there and order that. The chap chae(glass noodles with your choice of meat) is also really nice — I recommend the pork. They sometimes run out of delicious pork so get your order in early! This is a great little family run business with delicious food and wonderful service.

Mom cooks, dad hosts and son helps. The home made Kim-chi had a hint of ginger that was amazing and they even make their own spicy hot mustard. OMG! Try the beef bulgogi, slightly sweeter than I’m used to but delicious nonetheless. Spend the extra 75 cents for the home made veggie egg roll. It was PERFECTLYFRIED. Not a drop of oil on my fingers! It’s rare to find a place that knows how to fry food properly. $ 25 for lunch for two. YUM!

PUBLICSERVICEANNOUNCEMENT: This place is the real deal. It is top quality, amazing, incredible and I miss it so much now that I have moved back to the East Coast. NYC has an entire«Korea-town» yet I find myself craving Albuquerque’s best Korean restaurant all the time… I cannot find lettuce wraps with the yummy spread and bulgogi that taste nearly as good in NYC’s Korea Town! Next time I am in town I am headed straight here from the airport.

This is a very solid and nice restaurant. I would definitely go back to get another lunch. The food tasted fresh and hot and was delivered in a reasonable amount of time. There was just one waiter who took care of the whole dining room for a lunch rush and he was really hustling at quite a frantic pace. Perhaps made the atmosphere a little more frenzied than I was expecting, but not too bad. The cashew chicken I got reminded me of a dozen other cashew chickens I have had. It was good. There was just not anything different or unusual about that dish to perhaps elevate it to a higher rating. On my next visit I will try something different to see if it surprises me more.

I have a limited dining experience with Korean food, but the dishes I’ve had don’t even come close to this place. My roommate, Haley A., and I, all ventured making the trek to the opposite side of town for Fu Yuang, and it was well worth the drive. (We’re of differing opinions on certain aspects in terms of this small business, but I’ll say this, I would willingly wait to eat at this fine dining establishment. Heck, we did just that on this fine Saturday night.) Onto the review! We roll into a packed restaurant, not a table available, and there was another group in front of us waiting patiently to eat this food from the East. Once a table opens up and we’re waiting for itto be cleared, I bid the previous patrons good evening, and they bid me a fine dining. «Oh I’ll try.» is my response, and without missing a beat the woman tells me «Oh you will enjoy it.» Hahaha, and enjoy it I did. After the our speedy server, and I can only assume owner, took our order we waited patiently while we sipped on our complimentary hot tea. The food slowly trickled in… Pot stickers that are made in house and to order I’m sure, as there is twenty minute wait for your order, when they’re available. Then, but then my Bulkalbi arrived on a sweet hot plate, smelled amazing, and tasted the same. We all delved into our respective plates, and didn’t arise until we were damn near finished. Stopping only for brief eye contact, and to share a few things«family style.» Things of note: – Seat yourself. – No party’s bigger than five. – Complimentary hot tea. – Filtered water and filtered cubes. – The server is all business, yet cheerful and silly, because they’re always slammed. – Cash is the preferred payment, but you can charge for a fee. Even with my limited experience in Korean cuisine I know that Fu Yuang is up there. They hold the bar high… I can’t get over how good the food is, and I see why it has consistent five star reviews. I think it would only be better if I was sharing a meal with a Korean family, and in some ways I feel like I did. Keep at it Fu Yuang, because you’re doing it right.

If this place were closer to where I lived… forgeddaboutit, I’d become part Korean. Now I’ve been looking for a Korean joint in town with no luck so far, until now. Let me preface with I would seriously consider investing into this restaurant if it ever wanted to expand. The owners and food are both reasons to visit this place. Let’s start from the top: when we arrived there the place was packed, I mean every table taken. The place IS small, maybe like 10 tables, so we waited a bit but soon enough got a spot. We were greeted by the hustle from a guy who must be part owner. I don’t think this guy stood in one spot for more than five seconds that’s no joke. I’m going to call him Turbo since he’s got two speeds, turbo and off. Anyhoo, I ordered Bulgogi to truly test the Korean deliciousness of the place. It is also a Chinese restaurant, but when you do Korean, and you’re the only good joint in town(yes, I said it), get the Bulgogi! When it came out along side my friends dishes it brought me back to those hazy streets in South Korea. The banchans they had were good too. Fresh cucumber kimchi is my favorite and behold they had it! After Turbo dropped off the food, there was complete silence as the satisfaction of our food world consumed us. A good 15 minutes of practicing monks, and we came up from our bowls and dishes with smiles on our face. Here’s my only constructive feedback for this place. You need to give Turbo a break. Hire on a waiter, a sous chef, and add more tables(bigger place?). I saw a few couples come in and walk right out because every table was full and people were waiting. If this is a sign, the people of Albuquerque have spoken and they like what you guys are doing, but money is walking out the door. Food for thought.

First time trying out this place and it was amazing. I have never liked won tons but today I tried their fresh ones and I’m so glad I did! They were fantastic! Had the egg drop soup with fried strips and that was amazing and fresh as well. The sweet and sour pork was more meat than breading and was quite good! Very nice sweet and sour sauce as well. Service was fantastic, meal was fast, and food was great. Definitely coming here again! Note: there is a $ 1 fee for running your credit card, but it’s well worth it.
