We have 5 palm trees in our backyard that my husband has wanted to have trimmed and skinned for several years because they drop debris into our pool. So, I decided to have it done for him as a birthday gift. I set-​up bids from three tree companies in our area. Two of them were about the same amount, but I chose Llamas Tree Service because they were the only ones who said that they would cover our pool.
Alex and his crew arrived on time and took the time to put a big tarp over our pool. The first day, they trimmed all of the dead palm branches off the trees. These palm trees are about 30 feet tall, so their work is not easy! They cleaned everything up when they were finished. The trees looked great!
Since my husband also wanted the palms skinned, too, Alex and crew came back a second day. The skinning is a much more labor-​intensive job and it took almost the entire day. His guys were hanging from ropes and on ladders very high up working with very sharp knives to get the outer layer of palm branch ends that cover the trees off. It seems very dangerous, but his guys handled the task like the professionals they are! They also put a tarp over the pool for this part of the job and even skimmed the pool for some straggling debris when they cleaned up! (His guys also saved a neighbor’s dog who was being attacked by a coyote when they arrived!)

Knowledgable, honest, efficient, easy going, and fantastic! Alex provides the best service in the Bay Area! He removed several trees from my property a couple of weeks ago. He provided a fair estimate right away and he finished the work right on time!
Usually, I do not recommend people, but I gave his phone number to a couple of friends and they were very happy as well :) If all my service providers were as good as Llamas Tree Service, my life will be so much easier!

Alex and his team worked all day on a series of trees that line the top of our yard. They removed 2 large trees safely but more importantly they pruned 4 other large trees with skill and care. The end result is less dead wood, more sun, more visible blue sky and a renewed appreciation for the trees in place. Alex will address safe tree placement, tree health and your wishes but he is big on seeing the possibility of existing trees and positioning them to share their beauty and enhance your outdoor experience. The team was efficient courteous and clean. This company has a bright future and the team follows Alex’s solid example.

Alex and his crew are fantastic! I had seven different estimates on two huge pine trees on our property that needed to be removed due to beetles. Within the first few minutes before he even gave me a price, I knew he was our guy. He was honest and straightforward. His crew was very efficient on the day of the removal and made sure to clean up after. I will for sure be calling him in the future for any tree related services. He is also a certified arboriculturist, so he knows his stuff!

I am having a pool built and needed two trees removed quickly because the bobcats wouldn’t fit through the side of my house. Alex came out the day I called him and gave me an estimate right away. He was nice, knowledgeable and was able to fit me in ASAP. The day of removal, they were prompt and he and his team were extremely quick and clean. Would highly recommend them and will for sure use them in the future.

I originally wanted three estimates for a redwood tree removal in our front yard. The tree, while healthy, had become extremely large and was encroaching on our roofline and the neighbors driveway.
The first company gave me an email estimate via Google earth/​street view! They did not physically come to our home. The second was a no call, no show. Llamas Tree Service was the third bidder.
Alex arrived on time and gave us an estimate for pruning and raising our 20+ year old redwood instead of removing it. Alex explained that removing our tree would make our home hotter, and reduce our property value. By selective pruning and shaping, we could achieve our objectives.
Alex and his crew arrived on time and began work. Within a few hours they were done. The transformation was incredible. Clean up was thorough. The crew actually finished early and we came in $ 300 under estimate! Llamas Tree Service says what it does and does what it says.

Alex gave a fair estimate of the work to be carried out on our oak tree. The team arrived promptly as promised and worked hard trimming the branches but leaving the tree with it’s natural shape. They also made a good job of clean-​up. Alex came to view the tree and yard soon after his crew left to ensure that we were pleased with the work that had been done.

Can’t say enough things about Llamas Tree Service. We had an enormous redwood tree fall on our fence line. I called and Alex was there within an hour. His quote was fair and the tree literally disappeared by the end of the next day. I never met these guys before this week, and thanks to Unilocal we found a great service!

Alex and his crew are totally clutch. I lagged on the removal/​trimming of the silver dollar eucalyptus in my condominium’s back area to less than 24 hours before the ‘storm of the decade.’ If this tree falls, it would likely capsize th’ condo. And mar my gorgeous creek! #procrastination.
I called Llamas Tree Service at 10:30. Alex came over, saw my situation, suggested he hack off a handful of limbs at their crotches, and THEN HE DID IT. All before 3:30. He also placated and charmed my anxious neighbor. High Five. Super professional. I can not report on the pricing considering I acquired no other estimates. I’ll will contact them again for the total removal of the tree. I recommend.

Very happy with Alex, his crew and the work they completed. We had 6 very large Redwoods in serious need of a clean up and they turned out great. I would certainly use them again and would recommend them.

This review is long over due! I met Alex about a year ago and heard him talk to a group regarding tree maintenance, health, and removal. I was very impressed by his knowledge not only of how different trees need to be taken care of and his ability to identify different types of trees, but also his ability to explain how certain trees effect one another.
A few months following meeting Alex, my mom was looking for someone to remove a couple of trees. I referred her to a friend of my boss, because I had known him far longer. After we called 2 – 3 times, he never responded.
I asked my mom to trust me once more and to give Alex a call. She called him early one morning and not only did he answer immediately, he offered to be at the house within half an hour. He showed up to the house quickly, listened to our concerns, made suggestions and within a few days the trees were removed. Alex and his team did a great job, kept the site clean and at my moms request left the chips from the tree and large logs for use in the garden.
I highly recommend Alex — He really knows what he is doing when it comes to trees! A true Arborist!

We have multiple trees on our property that have a lot of sentimental value, so when selecting our arborist we did our research. Alex has a lot of knowledge about trees and is always continuing his education on Arboriculture. Before trimming we walked around the property with Alex as he examined each tree. We talked about the best situation for the trees health along with what would be ascetically pleasing to the eye. When on site and in action he and his crew exuded extreme professionalism and safety. Alex and his crew were great. Quoted me on a Wednesday and removed two trees, bushes and ground the stumps on that very next Monday.
