Wine & Waffles

This was my first visit to Wine and Waffles. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles sliders, my husband ordered the fish tacos and my friend ordered the jalapeño bacon macaroni and cheese. All were delicious! I ordered the wine sampler, which gives you a small taste of any three wines on the menu. We also shared the «Drunken Monkey» dessert: chocolate waffles with fresh banana slices as well as fried banana, chocolate chips and chopped walnuts, whipped cream, chocolate sauce drizzled over with hot whiskey maple syrup on the side. It was AMAZING! Waitress Mandy sang and played a blues tune at the piano. The atmosphere was romantic and classy. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Happy hour prices made our meal very affordable (We went at 5:30 pm)

No other word to describe this place but «lovely.»
Everything about this place hits the spot. Wines were delicious! Waitress was very sweet. Food was great and entertainment was, well, lovely!
On a slight con side, the food took a while to come out, but it was NYE and it was a bit busy.
When you come here, don’t try to be unique, it’s all in the name, try the wine and the waffles. Chicken and waffles dish was very good, the chicken tasted homemade.

Such a great atmosphere. Great wine sample (whatever the raspberry one was, my favorite!) for a really great price. Also the dude playing the piano really sets the atmosphere.
P. S. The young guy who wears he bow tie behind the bar is really good at picking a wine you’d like.

This was my first time at Wine & Waffles and I found the food and the customer service give to our party to be FIVE STAR EXCELLENT give to use by Jessica and Andrew.
The customer service was equal to that of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas simply awesome.

It took a total of 55 minutes (YES! I TIMED IT) for us to finally get our table that we reserved at 730pm. The only thing I liked was the flight of wine which consists of 3 pours for $ 10. The food was overpriced and mediocre. Don’t be fooled by that BIG glass of sangria ($ 14)! It was basically watered down grape juice with two or three slices of oranges. There’s probably more alcohol in the $ 2 wine bottles you can find at Trader Joe’s.
Overall, this place isn’t that bad but I can’t justify ever returning since they DO NOT KEEP reservations. The waitresses and waiters were very friendly and apologetic for the inconvenience but that’s as far as it goes. You might think what’s the big deal and it’s just a table? IT’S THE PRINCIPAL THAT MATTERS! DON’T GIVE THE OPTION TO MAKE RESERVATIONS IF YOU AREN’T GOING TO HONOR THEM!

The website says they take reservations on Open Table but since I was trying to make reservations on the day of, there was no availability on the app. I called them and they stated that they take same day reservations, which was great! I was able to reserved a table for 3 at 730pm. Upon arrival at 730pm, we were not greeted as we entered and we stood at the entrance for a good minute until a waitress told us we could take any available seat at the bar. We informed her that we had a table reservation and she told us to wait while she checked. The place wasn’t even that busy. There was a bigger party that took up two tables but there was clearly a table available. So why the wait? While we waited for the waitress to come back, another couple came in and were instantly greeted. They were welcomed by the waiter and asked if they needed a table and small talk was exchanged, which lead me to assume that they were regulars. One of the couple spoke up and said that we were here first and ONLY then did he give us his undivided attention and asked if we were helped. We informed him that the waitress was assisting us. While he sat the couple, we stood and continued to wait. We were then greeted by another waitress who told us there’s room in the back of the bar and insisted that we check out the seating. She lead us to the back and it was literally a SMALL wall mounted bar table facing the wall. She asked if this was okay and while my friends said it was okay. I said it was not. I wanted the table that I reserved. I don’t want to sit facing a wall when I came to mingle with my gal pals. She said unfortunately they don’t have a table ready as there is a bachelorette group coming in (EMPTY TABLE RESERVED. WHY WAS THIS ONE HELD AND NOT OURS?) and the walk in group took up two tables. How is that any of my fault? How is that MY PROBLEM? It is your problem that you PROMISED me a table and FAILED to follow through. They said that we could take a seat where the sofa was or at the main bar to wait for the larger table to leave; as the larger group has been there for over two hours and should leave soon. I really wanted to walk out and not give them my business but my friends were hungry and we drove 20 minutes out to this place. As we took a seat next to another couple in the sofa area, the waiter offered us a free glass of whatever we wanted on the house as an apology for the inconvenience. Though it was appreciated, I rather PAY for my glass of wine than to experience the inconvenience we received. After 30 minutes of waiting for a table to free up, we moved over to the bar since my friends wanted to order food. Once the larger group that took up two tables left, we asked the waitress if we could move to the table so we can eat comfortably and since they said that we could HAVE THE TABLE ONCE it frees up. She stated that she had to check. WHAT? Why? There needs to be more communication and fluidity among the waitresses so that everyone is on the same page to minimize delay. The waitress came back and said it was okay. In that time that she took to ask and come back we could of been moved to the table. During the time I waited for the table, I did see and notice the difference in treatment we got as non regulars compared to the regulars/​locals. Since we weren’t regulars, we weren’t instantly greeted or welcomed like the other more local/​regular customers they have. The layout of the bar is awkward and takes up most of the room. If the layout was better, they could accommodate more seating and tables.

One of my favorite places in Alameda! Staff is super friendly and attentive. We first came here on a Friday night for cocktails and dinner, and loved the live music and cozy atmosphere. The waffle fries and coconut prawns are great starters. You HAVE to try the jalapeño/​bacon Mac and cheese. It will change your life.

Why did I not think of this? Wine and Waffles… what a great concept! A lovely family-​run establishment on Park St., Alameda! This place is such a fun place for the locals and visitors. I immediately fell in love with the place. The décor is modern and they have a baby grand piano sitting next to the bar. On weekends, they have jazz and blues musicians entertain the patrons. Staff is very friendly and personable.
Of course, the stars are the wine and waffles! Friends and I sampled a few items that were all very tasty.
–Great selection of wines! I tried a glass of the house red during happy hour and I was impressed by the blend. Friend had a huge glass of sangria. I believe both were only $ 5.
–Chicken and Waffles: Highly recommend. The fried chicken was crispy but not greasy. Waffles were just right.
–Mac n cheese: Just what the doctor ordered.
–California cheese board: Awesome presentation and good choices of 3 local cheese accompanied by crackers and olives.
–Calamari: Golden brown with light batter and tasty.
–Drunken Monkey: Dark chocolate waffles with fried bananas, nuts topped with chocolate ganache and whipped cream. Sounded decadent and tasted decadent but a bit too sweet for my taste.
Nice wine bar with a modern twist! Go fo the wine but also go for the chicken and waffles! It sounds like a strange combination but the two go quite well together. Metered street parking or garage parking is available a block away.

Loved this place.
Wandered in here with a crew from le fiancé’s work after work last Friday. Was super pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wine and knowledge of the servers. Loved the laid back, classy vibe of the piano in the background too. I ended up splitting a bottle of a French rose with someone while the others opted for a red blend. Both were delicious!
We all split the popcorn chicken which was also pretty good. I wanted to get a waffle entrée but they were honestly a bit pricey. But for a fancy date night or a birthday dinner, I would definitely come back.

A friend of mine suggested we go here and I’m glad we came ! We came during happy hour and ordered Sangria and chicken and waffle sliders. The chicken and waffle sliders were perfect. The Sangria delicious. Will definitely be returning !

What a gem in Alameda! This place not only has delicious desserts, but bubbles to boot!
After dining at the Cuban restaurant down the street, our party of four decided to venture to W&W for dessert. I am so glad we decided to try this place out! Our options included a s’mores waffles concoction, as well as a pear and walnut number. Now, the latter I would opt for for breakfast rather than dessert, but it was still tastey!
We will surely re-​visit when we happen to be in the area!

Cute bar, excellent service, and the largest sangria in town!
The best part was the Zinfandel ice cream on top of a crispy waffle. Not too sweet, with just a hint of Zinfandel! Awesome way to end the night!

My first visit here was great. I loved it so much that I came back and brought my cousins.
Unfortunately, our experience with the server turned me off and I don’t think I’ll come back. I asked if we could try the wine before ordering a bottle. A simple yes or no would have sufficed. Instead, she responded that we could sample the wine as long as it didn’t seem like we were freeloading off them. Her response was offputting. Why would I ask to try the wine if I didn’t have the intention of buying the bottle? It came across as if she thought we were trying to smooch off them. When she left, I shared my irritation with my cousins. I’m not sure if she overheard our conversation (we were seated outside) but she later apologized for it. Still, the damage was done and it left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the night.
It’s a shame because I really enjoyed my first experience.

I’ve now gone back a couple times after my first review. I waited until the second trip to re-​review just in case it was an off night. But it doesn’t seem to be.
This last time, just as the first I ordered the chicken and waffles, this time was particularly bad. The chicken was overcooked to the point it was rubbery. One section I couldn’t even cut. One slider was just awful.
The breading had been our favorite part of the dish, and yet they seem to have started using cheaper ingredients — it just isn’t as good and leaves a small aftertaste that isn’t all that pleasant.
The service is always great as is the calamari, with the exception of a similar breading issue. It’s just so dissappointing to see a restaurant open strong and fall so much in their food.
We won’t make the trip any longer. Two disappointing visits is enough for us.

Came during happy hour and had the classic sangria, house wine (red & white), and some calamari. The sangria is big, but literally just a big glass of juice — I wouldn’t bother ordering it and it’s a little pricey for the quality. The calamari was decent and came with a yummy aioli and cocktail sauce. The house wine was also fine. The seating outside and the atmosphere of the place was nice. Happy hour prices were good. The waitress wasn’t very attentive to us, and we definitely saw our drinks ready from the bar much sooner than they were brought out, and the place wasn’t even half full. Also, someone at another table asked what flavored IPA’s and she said she didn’t know (cough hops cough), but I felt like she could have said she would find out for them? Overall the place is good for an average night out.

First time here. Ordered the calamari which was tasty. also ordered the chicken and waffle sliders. The maple syrup was piping hot and the waffles were light and airy. The chicken was expertly cooked but I didn’t care for the «herb» seasoning.
We also ordered the classic sangria… It could’ve packed a little more punch.
This is a cute place for you and your girlfriends or even a date. I really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Just the name conjures up PWT images… a scene from a John Waters film perhaps? But, just peek inside and it’s classy for Alameda standards.
We met friends there for a celebration, got a table by the fireplace, ordered some bubbly and had a lovely time. We each ordered something different. My friends are carnivores and had sliders and waffle potatoes. They seemed to enjoy those. I had a veggie sandwich which I modified slightly so it was avocado, melted cheese (which was shredded so I figure it came out of a bag), and honey mustard on soft waffles. My partner had the lox waffle sandwich. We enjoyed these comfort-​food sandwiches but I so wished for more.
The gourmand in me wants more with these waffles and of course better vegetarian options. I know you can do it. Create some interesting seasonal, localvore spreads for an open-​faced waffle small plate. Expand your horizons.
The place is related to the old-​school waffle house next door; in fact they had to go there for my herbal tea request. On their menu they had only «rare» caffeinated teas.

When a friend of mine told me this place was on Park my mouth was drooling for weeks until we decided to plan our girls night out there. This place was fabulous!!! Not only do they not take reservations, which is great in my opinion when you’re someone like me who never remembers to make reservations but when we got to the place it wasn’t crowded at all for a Saturday night Came here with 3 of my friends and we pretty much wanted to try EVERYTHING!!! Even all the wines were appealing so we had the waiter suggest a bottle for us that was absolutely SUPERB!
We pretty much ordered almost everything off the menu. The food was great! Had some things that were divine and some things that I would pass on next time. Here’s the breakdown:
— Coconut prawns — OMG… a must try. Sooooooo good
— Garlic parm fries — MMM MMM good
— Popcorn chicken — Nothing fancy there. Would have wanted this to be better
— Ribeye Crostini — My all time FAVORITE. Don’t go to this place and not try this
— Artisan Meat & Cheese board — Fabulous… but don’t expect the CA board like we did
— Chicken & Waffes Slider — Disappointed… we wanted this to be the highlight of the trip but it just fell super short
— Dessert — Completely forgot what we had but it was great :)
Overall — our experience was great. The ambiance was wonderful and we can’t wait to come back.
Forgot the total damage of the bill but for four people it was totally feasible. Think we paid like approximately $ 30 each.

I made a reservation on Open Table. When we got to the restaurant, the bartender/​greeter said we can sit wherever we want. That’s fine. However, I told him I want to be checked in, so I can get my Open Table points. His reply was that he didn’t know how that all worked… that he didn’t know there were points for Open Table. I had to explain to him how the check in process works at other restaurants. A man (who I’m assuming is the owner) heard this, and he told me I should get my points. He said if I didn’t show up for the reservation, then they inform Open Table. But that doesn’t even make sense… if you don’t bother to check people in as they arrive, how would you know who has and who hasn’t shown up for their reservation. STRIKE ONE!
The restaurant left the front door open for most of the time we were there. It was freezing that day! They eventually closed it, but not after our waffle fries had already gone cold. STRIKE TWO!
The Bleu Cheese Fondue Waffle Fries ($ 9.00) was underwhelming. Both the fries and the cheese were cold by the time it arrived at our table. The Caesar Salad
with Maple Bacon Croutons ($ 9.00) was also mediocre, and the maple bacon croutons were so hard, you’d probably chip your teeth or lose a filling just trying to bite down on them.
My boyfriend liked his Chicken & Waffle Sliders (house breaded chicken with whiskey maple syrup — $ 15.00). I myself ordered the Lox-​On-​A-​Waffle (smoked salmon cucumber, arugula, honey dijon, and dill — $ 16.00), which was good.
For dessert, we each ordered the same one — Zinfandel Ice Cream (served on a Mini Waffle with Chocolate — $ 8.00). The dessert was alright.
We will not be going back here again. It was OK to try once, but strikes one and two (see above) are enough reasons for me not to go back here, as well as the fact that the food wasn’t anything to be impressed by. If you want waffles, just go to Olé’s next door.

On a busy Sunday afternoon on Park st., this place was completely empty. I should have taken it as a sign. Just another overpriced restaurant with extremely small portions. Glass of house red for $ 7 and $ 15 for 2 small chicken waffle sliders…’nuff said. :(
Go to Lola’s if you want chicken waffle sliders, it’s ginormous and $ 7!

I’ve been anticipating Wine & Waffles opening as soon as I saw the sign a bit ago. It wasn’t until this past weekend I was able to visit!
There was a live singer/​pianist that made the atmosphere very fun and relaxing. We chose a seat near the electronic fire, on the couch. Service was so friendly and helpful with any questions we had about the menu and the wine. There was a baked oysters special that we decided to try, along with waffle fries with bleu cheese fondu. For wine, we decided on a pinot gris.
They actually were short of 2 oysters from our order, so they took $ 2 off. The oysters were tasty! The waffle fries were delicious and went well with the wine!
Bottles were reasonably priced and a nice selection.
Will definitely be back!
