Epic Lights

DO NOT USE THIS GUY. I TRIED TO OVER LOOK ALL THE BODY ART AND BULL SHIT CHRISTIAN THING. He didn’t have insurance and I still am not sure the cert he ended up providing me was legit. He told me he would come back to finish the job and has ignored my text and phone calls. He travels to Nor Cal to charge his above average prices and then hides in Tucson AZ so he is not local and can’t be tracked down. Larry Annis, Pleasanton CA.

Lyons did our Christmas lights for the past three years. We still have our lights up and per our agreement, he is supposed to take down the lights after the holidays and store them till the next holiday season.
However, he has disappeared. His phone number is no longer in service and my Facebook message to him went unanswered. My poor neighbor who saw him installing my lights this year, and whose husband recently died, hired him and she is now in the same situation.
I am now having to hire someone to take down our lights. His decision to leave his Christmas clients to twist in the wind, with no word from him, and no way to contact him, is about as callous and irresponsible as it gets.

We just hired Lyons and crew after talking to many lighting companies for quotes and I’m so glad we did! He and his crew were very meticulous to get the job just right, there were many times he referenced «this is how I would do it if it were my house». They were clean, tidy and efficient, even finished a day ahead of schedule! He took out all of our old high voltage lighting and installed low voltage LED energy efficient lighting around our entire yard and pool area, it looks beautiful. He designed a great layout for the lighting and we have the option to add more later if we choose, which I think is a nice option to have since you don’t really know what you need where until you see it all lit up. He also installed clear market bulb string lights from our home over our bbq area and it looks fabulous. I’ve always wanted to add that as ambiance lighting for outdoor eating area and he made it happen. Highly recommended!

Our backyard now looks like one of those rich people’s yards from Sunset magazine.
Lyons came out and we talked about options within my budget. About 10 days later he and one of his crew came out and installed 10 low to the ground copper LED lights. He designs the lights so that the best part of your yard is illuminated by the light. For us it’s the citrus and maple trees.
He also has taller pathway lights and we bought three of those as well. Very nice!
He’s not just an order taker for installing lights. He has a good designers eye for what will work best with the situation. I was comfortable just letting him do his thing, and wasn’t disappointed.
Just fyi, the lights are controlled by a user friendly box that can be set to turn on and off based on a set time so it’s very low maintenance. And also the lights are very energy-​efficient so you won’t spend more than I think 10 or 20 bucks per year for a small job.
Overall were very pleased and I definitely recommend Lyons to u. Oh yeah and his customer service and communication was good too. Didn’t want to forget that. For example the original plan was to use bronze lights but he called me the day before he was to install and said because of some stocking issue by the manufacturer he can only get copper and advised me on the pluses and minuses of both. I felt comfortable going with the copper and I’m glad I did.

We were referred to Lyons and Epic Lights from a good friend, who was pleased with the lighting job he did for her in Oakland. We’ve been needing outdoor lighting for some time – both for safety and drama – so we called, and Lyons was here within a few days. He walked our property and explained his ideas and vision. We arranged a day the following week when he’d come and set up a demo that we’d walk through after dark. The rains delayed us for a few days, but after having to reschedule a couple of times, he insisted that he come out on a rainy afternoon. When it was dark, we walked around, requested some adjustments – which he made on the spot – and agreed on the scope and cost of the job. He came out the Monday after Christmas with his crew and spent the day installing everything. When dark, he again walked us through everything. We again requested a few minor adjustments – again, made on the spot – until everything met with our satisfaction. Everything is on a timer, so it’s like magic when our magnificent oaks, maples and birch trees are dramatically lighted at night. The view is equally enchanting from inside and out. Lyons was a pleasure to work with, communicated clearly, set and delivered on expectations. He is a master at his craft. We recommend him highly!

Wow!!! Is how I would describe the eye for flare with lightning that Lyons the owner of Epic Lights has. I have a beautiful lot with hills, mature trees, and pathways. I had my lighting done by another lightning company and after there were done we sat outside one evening and said to myself «Boring» for all that money what an average job I might as well have hired an electrician to do my outdoor lights. A year went by broken lights, wiring not right, and timers breaking. Then I was reading a magazine one night and there was this beautiful picture of a night shoot of this backyard. I said wooooow that’s beautiful I hope this company does work in The Peninsula. I called immediately and spoke to a gentlemen by the name of Lyons I said please tell me you do jobs in the Peninsula. He was at my house that week. Walked the property came back again at dusk and said «I got this I will make this beautiful». Not only did he fix all the broken lights and timers but he added such a flare in my trees, in my pathways, and down my creek that I sat out there the next night and said Wow this is so Zen! I was able to see such beauty in the dark with just the right brightness he hit spots in those trees that are breath taking when your outside enjoying your nights.
Thanks Lyons you are a real pro lighting guy and I’m sure my friends will feel the same when your done with there front and backyards too!

Just had our landscape lighting completed by Lyons, the owner of Epic Lights and we too are beaming!!! When you look at the website and see these beautiful homes all lit up looking like something out of Better Homes and Gardens, you think, if only my house could look like that. Well, that’s exactly what Lyons did. His experience and knowledge of landscape lighting is a solid 5 Stars. He was up front on the cost, honest and true to his word and willing to make accommodation to install our lights by Halloween. Our over all experience was so great that we decided to purchase custom Christmas lights from him. Again, the quality just keeps on giving. Thank you Lyons for making our home look so warm and inviting to all that visit us.

Lyons is not an electrician, he merely is able to plug his equipment into a provided light socket. We were not provided with any assortments of lights from a catalog or display it was Lyons saying that his product was the best. This is not the case as we have since found superior products to what Lyons offered. His installation is somewhat pricey and we found Lyons to be very moody and tempermental when you question his work or his line of products. I have told Lyons that I wouldnt recommend him or his work to others mostly because of his temper. You may have to hire an independent electrician to complete the job that Lyons says he can accomplish himself.

Changed my mind

I have meant to write a review for Epic Lights (Lyons) right after he installed our exterior lights in both the front and backyard back in August 2012. Better late than never, so here I go.
Lyons came knocking on our door one evening to talk about lighting. Perfect timing because my partner and I were hoping to find time to do some research to have it done. The way Lyons conduct business was perfect for our schedule and time. To meet him at our front door and hear his description of how does his business was unbelievable (until we witnessed it first hand).
Lyons comes out to inspect where you would like lighting. We had no idea how or where to place the lights, so we said «you’ve done this for years, you make it look fabulous.» He walked through the entire yards with us where the lighting would go and he gave us an estimate. Remember, we haven’t committed to anything yet. Once we agreed on the estimate, he came out another day to setup the entire lighting system above ground for a «pre show illumination.» Again, we didn’t commit to anything at that time either, but he came over in the afternoon to setup the lights. When we got home late that evening, we was there to show us how the front and backyard would look like at night. At that time, the customer has to let Lyons know if they commit to the project or not. But how could you refuse Lyons’ excellent work when you’re home is professionally lit up like a resort/​mansion. The lighting was exactly what we were hoping for and we committed to the sale/​project.
Lyons then came out another day with his team who were extremely nice and they did the installation in one day. The backyard wasn’t torn apart and no damages were ever done to the landscape or our outdoor belongings. The house was so beautiful, even our neighbors on our private road gave us large compliments. In fact, a neighbor two houses down had Lyons install their lights in their backyard two weeks later.
For this kind of work, it’s always hard to trust a company to do the job right the first time. The way Lyons conducts his business operation, the first time it’s installed, you pay nothing until you believe it is right for YOU. If the customer doesn’t like the lighting after it is installed, it’s not Lyons fault, it’s the customer for not explaining what they want. Again, the lighting system is setup before you have to commit to paying anything. If you don’t like it after the initial setup, Lyons will pack up the lighting system and move on. By the way, for what he does and setting up the lights before you commit to the project, Lyons’ pricing is fair.
We have always loved our home, but we are more in love with our home these days when we are driving up to it. I highly recommend Lyons’ artistic, professional lighting work to anyone who is serious about having exterior lighting done to their home. You will not regret it. Also, he uses high quality materials and all the light bulbs are LED, which will save you money. They LED lighting looks like natural lighting color, not that blue color. And he guarantees his work down to the light bulbs.

our backyard had pretty much everything except for lighting when Lyons (the owner) knocked on our door to offer his services. after a thorough demonstration of the lighting system we were sold. the pricing is absolutely fair and the quality is tremendous. we love our backyard & now we spend a lot more time out there at night. i highly recommend epic lights, you will not regret hiring them.

Recently had Lyons Whitmore of Epic Lights of California install a LED lighting system in my back yard. I had a Malibu lighting system for many years that I thought was great until Lyons, via his free lighting demo., blew me away with his superior system!!!
Not only is it cheaper to operate but the quality of materials used and light output is a «night & day» difference. Lyons installed my system in 1 day with very little disruption to my landscaping. I was impressed with Lyon’s attention to details and his ability to listen and follow through with my suggestions and input. My neighbor was so impressed with my new lighting that they had Lyons install a system for them as well, and I’m looking forward to expanding my system to my front yard in the near future.
If you want a «BIG BANG FOR THE BUCK» a night lighting system is definitely the way to go.
