This establishment is very poorly run & lack basic principles of customer service. Whoever gave this place 4 stars or higher is out of their mind. This place should be shut down sooner than later.

Purchased money order from here for dmv and mailed it out from here dmv still did not receive also mailed 2 phones and it got lost when I called to ask them how I can get my refund they hung the phone rude no costumer service don’t trust your mail with anyone except usps signature confirmation and tracking

Plain and simple. Not the most welcoming décor inside but the service is done with a smile, even with something as mundane (and frustrating) as getting a document notarized and packages packed and shipped priority mail. Full-​service.
I just like it that there’s someone personable behind the counter that’s working with you, instead of working against you.
Prices are fair.

I needed to get some documents out in a hurry requiring a notary, money order, and mailing. I’d planned to come here to get the document notarized and then hit the bank & post office respectively — only to realize that I could do it all in one place! In less than 20 minutes, I was out the door with everything complete! The nice lady even directed me to the nearest ATM when I didn’t have cash on hand for the money order. It was so simple coming here and I felt like she really wanted to help me out with getting things just right. I’ll be returning here for notary tasks and anything else I may need in the future!

I needed a last minute notary & called Mail Boxes Plus. Bobby told me she could help me, so I went over there. Not only was she professional & courteous, she had me out of there in less than 10 minutes! I will definitely use Mail Boxes Plus in the future!

Wow, I can’t believe this place is getting such negative reviews. I come here maybe 5 – 6 times a year, usually to run errands for my boss. This place is convenient, just down the street from where I work and the woman behind the counter (I’m embarassed I don’t know her name, but she’s the one who’s normally there) is always so pleasant and helpful!
Before coming here, I had no idea how to ship and return boxes. Yeah. if I ordered something online and hated it, I would keep it instead of driving down to the mailbox store to ship it back to the shop. It’s just too confusing for me. Unfortunately, my boss is not the same way, so I always just walk down to Mail Boxes Plus and they help me out. THey make everything so EASY! The woman behind the counter is always so helpful and super nice, even though I may ask stupid questions. And, they always email over the tracking number so I dont stand around, worrying that my package might get loss.

Best place for shipping, gift wrapping, and notary in town. It’s a family run store with great service. Love the lady at the desk who always has a joke to tell. She’s about her business though and you can tell by how she takes care of her customers. My family has been in alameda for over 10 years and if we ever need anything notarized or a package sent this is where we have gone and where we will continue to go. The shop is a quintessential alameda shop and we love it!!!

Alameda Mail Boxes Plus has been providing me 5-​Star service for 10+ years. In having had hundreds of boxes/​packages delivered over the years (most times with irreplaceable contents), there has never been an adverse situation/​experience. Before UPS/​FedX introduced shipment tracking, the staff was (and still is, if necessary) readily available to check on my urgent deliveries. Always friendly and ready to assist you, you’ll get the best service on the island.

Lost a package after they signed for it. Told me it was my problem and to file insurance claim with UPS. A week later, they found the package in their packing peanut bin. Owners kids were playing with it! Not even an apology. I had been a customer, and mailbox holder for two years. I switched to UPS store on blanding and haven’t been happier!

The individual at the counter did not mail my letter the day it was dropped off hence, I did not get paid on time, etc. One would expect mail and packages to go out the day they are placed in the care of these people but evidently this is not the case.

Place is good if you need mailing supplies but the lady at the desk was horrible. Wasn’t very helpful and didn’t look happy to be working.

I’ve been a big fan of this local business since about 2002, & use their services on average 2 or 3 times a month. I ship and receive online auction books, DVDS and toys worldwide, pay utility bills, process legal documents that need to be notorized, make keys, and buy candy & sodas here regularly. I’d rather do business here than anywhere else when I’m on on the Island. They have never made a mistake that I can recall, but they have caught MY mistakes, which I am eternally grateful for. I dropped my ATM card there today, & was so glad they found it & I got it back right away. The clerk & her grown up sons & daughters are always friendly, efficient, & helpful. They help me compare prices & timetable of various shippers before I decide which way to go, and even help me put my packages together, with super friendly & patient smiles rather than the rushed gruff frowns I’d get at the post office. The line CAN be long & irritating once in a while, but I’d rather walk here than drive anywhere else and wait in a similar line with less hands-​on service. These guys have always gone the extra mile for me. I know a LOT of regular patrons like myself who work, live, or play in this pretty little neighborhood who truly appreciate the hard work, great service, & friendly attitude at Mail Boxes Plus. One suggestion: Get new greeting cards– the ones on the rack are antiques.

Oh man!!! I wish I consulted my business guardian angel ( Unilocal) before working with this place. Had I known they received a 1 star rating prior I would have never decided to go with them.
All I can say is working with them has been a nightmare. My problem is with their shipping service and the one star reflects their ability to ship. It would be no star if I had a choice. Their others services may be better but who knows.
Chime in if you feel I’m wrong but If you send packages through any shipping service shouldn’t they have your information on hand? Well, I did send 2 art pieces through them to a gallery in Chicago. 2 Months later that same gallery sent the packages back to sender (Mail Boxes Plus). I never received a phone call. I found out through the gallery that is being sent back to Chicago because I failed to claim it.
I end up calling MBP and they said «its not their responsibility» because it didn’t match any of their mail box renters and it was the galleries fault for sending it back without the original shipping label. I asked «why not search previous shipping transaction and back it up with the name on the package, you have my CC info address home phone and cell phone. Their response «not our responsibility»
Spare yourself the time and money. It’s really not worth it.

Alameda Mailboxes Plus, on Santa Clara near Broadway, are a bunch of thieves. I paid our previous bill with cash, and now they are claiming I never paid it. I *may* have a receipt somewhere, buried in all the paper, but that’s going to be nearly impossible to find, so I’ll suck up paying them twice for the same service long enough to cancel it, and find someplace which has better prices and doesn’t rip off its customers.
