History

Established in 1934.

In 1933, Wesley T. «Pop» Swenson sold hamburgers out of his station wagon at the newly built Buchtel High School. In 1934 the 1st Swensons location was opened on S. Hawkins. In 1952 the North Akron location opens. Stow opens in 1987, Montrose in 1995, Jackson in 1996 as the first franchise (becomes corporate 2014). 7Hills joins the Swenson’s team in 2001, and North Canton gets taste of Swenson’s in 2003. The original Swensons on West Hawkins is rebuilt in 2003. And the very first Swensons food Truck rolled off the line July 2014!
