Definitely a hole in the wall local gem. Small and a bit sketchy looking from the outside at night, but don’t be swayed away! Huge burgers and the best fries, we also had the pepper jack bites– so good.

Good burgers, slightly overpriced for a hole in the wall. Fries were tasty but soggy. Very slow service for such a small place… a little dirty.

My wife and I often make Louie’s a lunch stop on our Saturday rounds. Complementary Popcorn is a nice touch. Burgers are the best, as well as their other specialty sandwiches. Service is personable and they pour their hand cut fries on your plate! Nice place.

Fantastic Burgers… we place a large order for our company at least once a month. They always have everything packed nicely and most importantly never any mistakes with the order. Never walked on the door but the woman who takes my order over the phone is very nice and personable. Never any complaints from any of my employees… it’s gotta be good!!!

The burgers here are absolutely amazing, have yet to have a bad one. Onion rings are pretty amazing also. The wait staff has always been friendly. My favorite place to have a burger in Akron.

I was SOHUNGRY for a good burger and I came to Louie’s for lunch. I have been craving a medium rare hamburger with shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and Italian dressing for weeks(much like the hoagie burgers of yore at a diner in Firestone Park… why do I torture myself?) Women will understand my dilemma. We crave foods that no longer exist and we try to replicate them by eating at hoards of restaurants that«may» placate our needs. I recently spent an hour online searching for the recipe for the soy burgers I ate in the cafeteria during high school. Seriously? I’m 50 years old, I’m NOT pregnant. But I digress, Louie’s was a balm to my soul. I sneaked in a little after 11AM on a Monday in January. I remembered from previous visits that the wine list was limited(read non-existent) and if i ordered wine I would end up with the dregs of a bottle that was weeks old. Since my hubby was not with me I didn’t pay much attention to the taps/bottles on offer. The small bar quickly filled up and men in suits ordered various beers. I ordered the«everything» burger — a ½ pound burger with the works. I ordered it with tomato, lettuce, onion, double feta cheese and a side of the Greek dressing — which was like Italian dressing on steroids mixed with Greek spices and feta. The TV was tuned to Sportschannel, everyone hates Bill Belichik, my burger was perfect, my waitress Grace didn’t rush me, and my fries were crispy — what else could I ask for? My husband to join me next time; that’s what.

First off, bonus points for the free basket of popcorn when I sat down! This place is a hole in the wall but let me tell you what… the burgers are… AMAZING! If you are craving a big, juicy, greasy, flavorful burger, this is the place to go. The fries that come with the burger are pretty good. I always eat too much when I’m there because the food is so good. You have to go when you have no plans for the rest of the day because you will be in a food coma after eating a Louie burger.

LOUIE’S FOREVER. Okay, in general, I can live without burgers. Usually they’re so mediocre, I don’t bother. HOWEVER. The feta burger at Louie’s is so good, I am a reformed soul. I tried my mom’s cheeseburger as well, which was just fantastic. I couldn’t finish mine until later that evening, but who doesn’t like to relive burger deliciousness later? Other than In-n-Out Burger and Edzo’s in Evanston, IL, these are the best burgers I’ve ever had.(Sorry, Swenson’s. You’re just too greasy.) Fries are great, and the beer selection is a delight, especially because they carry Thirsty Dog over the VASTLY overrated GLBC. My only complaint is that we weren’t offered the popcorn – but it left more room for BURGER. So that’s fine. Seriously, go to this place over Flip Side any day of the week. The owners and wait staff are friendly and charming. Just don’t sit down too quickly on the booths, and don’t be alarmed by the bathroom, which is the size of a phone booth. It adds to the charm!

This trip, we got fried mushrooms(which we love), a foot of onion rings(fantastic onion rings), Christy fries(fries with cheese, bacon, and ranch — haven’t decided about them… pretty good), spicy garlic wings(Great! Or you can get them not spicy), honey BBQ wings(Awesome! Or you can get them spicy). Also got the Bacon Cheese Supreme Burger. I chose Swiss cheese but you can get American, mozzarella or pepper jack. Their burgers are ½ pound and delicious. As Samuel L Jackson says, «Hmm, That Is a tasty burger!» If you can, it’s a good place to eat in. Not big so you might have to wait a bit, but it’s worth the wait.

3.5 Stars. This is a cool little dive bar that features burgers. Its very small and the owners are almost always there. This also means if all the tables are full the wait could be a while. My burger was solid, certainly large and I really enjoyed the homemade fries that accompanied it. It was cooked properly and they have a wide array of toppings to chose from to customize your burger. We tried a couple appetizers as well and they are worth trying too. I would like to come back here late night to grab a messy burger and knock down a few brews… thats the type of place you are looking at here.

3.5 stars. When my husband and I first went here I was floored. It was maybe the best burger I had ever had. They are enormous and if you really want a heart attack, try the christie fries! They were one of the very few places that actually cooked a burger medium when you asked for it. We went back almost every Friday for months it was so good. Great prices too! Unfortunately we haven’t been back in a while bc we felt that it started to go downhill. The burgers were still pretty good but they started to over cook them. It’s a very tiny place so if you want a table, don’t go at dinner time on the weekends or you will be waiting a while. I think it is still worth going to, and I hope to go back soon to see if they have made it back to how they used to be.

My partner had a craving for a good burger and performed an internet search for a place to eat this afternoon. This establishment came up on the search with good reviews so we decided to give it a try. The place was easy to find, with a small parking lot beside the building. We arrived around 4:15pm and found 3 people sitting at the bar and one booth occupied for a meal. The atmosphere was pleasant, and everything looked clean and neat. There were two televisions on tuned into the Fox News channel. Beside the popcorn machine there was an «internet jukebox» available for anybody willing to spend $ 1 per song to play. Our server was very friendly and efficient at her work. She served our drinks quickly and chatted with us about the menu. I ordered the steak sandwich(rib eye) which was served with fresh fries and my partner ordered the mushroom burger also served with fries. As an appetizer, I asked for ½ dozen of wings, spicy garlic Parmesan flavored. Our food arrived in a timely manner and came just the way we ordered it. My steak sandwich was tasty and did not need any ketchup or steak sauce to accompany. My fries were limp and I wish it had stayed in the fryer for a little while longer. The wings were done just the way I liked. They were crunchy on the outside, tossed lightly with some garlic and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. While I do like my food spicy, these wings were just a notch too much for me. Perhaps next time I’ll just order the regular garlic Parmesan without the spice. I would definitely order the steak sandwich again, though. By the time we left, several booths in the restaurant had been filled and the bar was also filling up. I believe this is a popular neighborhood hangout. My partner and I would be back the next time we have a craving for some good bar food.

Old school, you even get a basket of popcorn to start. And they don’t yell at you when you make a mess with the popcorn! Wish I was boozing, but it was a business lunch. I’m sure they pour some mean draft beers here. The burgers really are some of the best around. When they say world famous and it feels like you’re sitting in someone’s living room(albeit with a bar) eating them, you know it’s got to be good.

Unilocal reviews made me bookmark this place. The burgers made me wanna return. When we walked in, we immediately noticed the entire little place was packed and there was another couple in front of us. We decided we wouldn’t know if it was worth our wait until we tried. Luckily, we were seated after about 5 – 10 minutes. After maneuvering our way to a booth, we were seated and quickly offered drinks. We were never offered popcorn, but we enjoyed looking at the old business cards on the table. We were tempted to call some of the business to see if they were even in business or if their numbers were valid! We refrained and went to the menu. I ordered the blue cheese burger and my boyfriend ordered a grilled cheese. Yes, a grilled cheese– maybe thinking it would be like Melt or something? Not sure his reasoning, but if you are thinking the same, let me assure you it is not; instead, it is very normal size & plain– just like you would make at home. Save your appetite for the real thing… the burgers! After I was done with my burger(which was mounted with crispy bacon), I was able to have some of my fries with the left over blue cheese. I was surprised by how much blue cheese they were able to put on the plate & burger! The only thing it lacked, IMO, was hot sauce, but I think they have another burger like that. The fries were delicious. I will try another burger on my next visit! While waiting for our food, we watched a young kid selling candy bars for his baseball team. That kid made a killing– walked in with a box & left with cash! Only in a dive bar would you see this. Kudos to him for his entrepreneurial skills and the owner for letting him do it. Not sure where the overflow of parking is– we took the last«spot» hoping the car wouldn’t get towed.

Some of the best burgers in Akron. They’re thick, large, and cooked just right. I wouldn’t say they’re as good as Swensons, but they’re still pretty damn good. I’ve found that the worst burger they served here, while still acceptable, is their burger with blue cheese. Anything else is mouth-watering and thick, just how burgers should be. Louie’s is a very dive-y restaurant. It’s Annabell’s with burgers and no hipsters to piss you off with their eclectic music and their bizarre piercings. In other words, expect to walk in to the restaurant seeing a messy floor, where it is likely covered with popcorn, which is complimentary here. The building Louie’s is in is small and narrow, so there are only a few tables. Other than the burgers, Louie’s isn’t that deep of a restaurant. They serve other dishes, such as cheesy fries, that are quite greasy but worth the painful heart attack after you get home. They do have a full bar with a wide variety of drink selections to please any drinker. If you are on Route 8 near Tallmadge Ave. or Glenwood and are hungry, I’d recommend trying this place out if you’re looking for a burger that has won numerous local awards.
