I mentioned in my first review that I don’t drink. Why was I going to a bar? For the awesome bar food. This bar decided to re-hire an old manager who for some stupid reason got rid of the only two items on the menu that I came to this bar for, so that makes this place plummet in ratings with me. I will never be back until they bring back the hot dogs and chili that were the best at this place.

I have been to Baxters Bar previously and highly recommend it for it’s awesome layout, drink selection and open patio. In fact the open mic night tonight(Monday) was filled with incredible artists! But unfortunately our bartender lacked in any and all of what you would call«customer service». I would have been able to give her the benefit of the doubt except for the cold shoulder was seemingly only directed to my friend and I. We had one drink and menus in front of us. She never came back 1 time in the 2 hours we were there to ask us how things were going, If we decided on what we would like to eat, or if we would we like another drink. She never made eye contact with us. All the while smiling, dancing and being a normal human being with other customers. Even when my friend I was with asked for her check the bartender walked slow, took a drink of water leisurely and had a little convo with someone before cashing us out. I was hungry and wanted to have a good time/ready to spend some money. My friend did not leave a tip. And I left 1.00. Which in hindsight I regret with a passion. I will be back to Baxters Bar in the future at least 1 more time because I told a friend I would support open mic night. I am giving the establishment the benefit of the doubt. But that may possibly be it for myself and any of my friends I let know about my experience. I have never met the woman before, i am a very very nice person and there was no reason what so ever for us to be treated like this. And no reason for me to lie/blow story out of proportion I hope this review is taken seriously because it is also the people that make up a place that can determine if someone will ever return. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I would also like to add that the bar was not extremely busy, empty seats all around, so nothing holding an employee back from doing the job they are paid to do.

Recieves a 3 out of 5, since the menu change. A week before the menu change we found out the pizzas were our favorites, and now they are no longer available. Each time i come i try somthing new on the food menu and have yet to be impressed. Me and my friends still continue to visit every wednesday for half price all wine, and for our favorite waitress Jennifer who is always a great time, and excited to see all of us!

I have to say the service is horrible and I’m sitting here still waiting to be waited on. In fact we had to flag down the bar tender to order. He walked past us multiple times and did not take our food order. We didn’t even get to put in orders for half price appetizers during their happy hour because of how the service is today.

Great place for happy hour. Monday-Friday ½ priced appetizers and $ 5 drafts 3 $ wine. Food is excellent. Pretzel bites are addicting. Plenty of table space for large groups. Booths comfortably fit 6 people.

Always enjoy going to this place on the weekends. Nice mellow bar with good music, cool waiters/bartenders, and great beer. Baxter’s has never let me down, and I will continue to give them my business.

I’m an out of towner, from Baltimore and we do eclectic bars. This place was awesome. Great drinks, cool atmosphere and nice staff. Post up at the bar and order a stiff drink. Everything looks like it’s always been there which adds to the great feel. I will definitely be returning when we come to town again.

This place has a pretty neat feel. The beer selection was great although our waitress didn’t deliver anyone the right drink. None of the food we had was better or even up to par with what you could make at home. The pretzel«bites», aka a pretzel stick cut into pieces were probably the star. The burnt pork nachos were edible but not a bit of flavor. The pork was cooked nicely though. As for the entrees, i can’t remember the last time I was served food that I’d rather just not eat. The Tuna«melt» was not melted or toasted. Yummy — -warm tuna on soft bread with a piece of American cheese. We also got the philly«pizza». By pizza” I mean the 6 inch tortilla passed off as crust that couldn’t hold all the mayo that was slathered on here, if you like mayo with a little bread, this is for you! A total bust unless you’re looking for beer and a wedge salad.

Cool little bar. Great beer selection. The food was okay — nothing to write home about, but not much to complain about wither. Had the pork nachos, which were good, but were the same as I might put together at home. Nothing homemade or special about them. The bartender was new, a bit clueless, and a lot tackless. He made some comments about the servers that he thought were funny, but were not in good taste. Really cool location and good vibe. m

The number one place for drink selection in Akron. Menu isn’t the same as it used to be but the drink list and atmosphere is top notch.

This was a great place for after dinner drinks. They have a great list of beer and the service plus atmosphere was fun. By happy accident we got an awesome dessert in their house made baked cinnamon sugar pretzel bites with maple vanilla sauce.

Boom. Deliciousness! Bar food, but classy! We got tired of a bunch of the bar food places in downtown Akron and decided to try Baxter’s and it was really good. Good beer on draft, my girl had a delicious martini and the flatbreads are amazing! Really impressed with this place, nice patio /open seating and really casually enjoyable environment!

Overall, nice place. I like the openness of the bar. The prices of the drinks and food are reasonable. I got a side salad and a pepperoni flat beard, both were good but I was starving so anything would have been good. I enjoying go here, and will continue going in the future.

The manager here is very professional, well dressed, and put together. Very distinguished gentleman. Family friendly atmosphere. The Flatbread selection is great. We especially enjoyed paddling each other with the boards afterwards. Will be back soon!

First time at baxter’s… Not bad, not great. Out server/bartender was great. She was fun, educated about the beers, and gave good suggestions… even gave me a sample of the sour ale to try before i bought a glass(which I didn’t, eww). The bar us cool and had great décor. The bottled beer list was pretty good. As for the food… It was OK. The nuts were awesome. The hummus was OK. The ceasar salad was pretty average. The bbq chicken flatbread was decent(but not good enough to bother taking home the leftovers). However the Sam Smith chocolate stout mouse was amazing! I wanted to lick the martini glass it was served in. I would go back for the beer and the mouse!

I liked it better when it was the porn store. My friends and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, looking for a cocktail and food before a baseball game. We were surprised by the limited menu — only salads and flatbreads and a couple different appetizers to choose from. We ended up getting a BBQ chicken flatbread. It was pretty meh. But it was also only $ 5. The service was not great but not bad, but our server disappeared when it came time to track down our check, which drives me crazy. The interior of the restaurant is nice — the front is open to the street, and it felt pretty summery. The beer list is long and has something for everyone.

Avoid this place at all costs. Unless you enjoy bugs in your drink. The first time I had Blanton’s bourbon was several years ago at this bar. So, on this occasion, I asked the waitress for a double. She clearly had never heard of Blanton’s and had to doublecheck with the bartender. After confirming they indeed had some, she confessed that, in the entire time she had worked there, no one had ever ordered a Blanton’s. That was the first red flag. But they had it, so why not? The bourbon tasted odd to me. Second red flag. As I neared the end of the glass, I noticed about 5 – 6 black specks floating at the bottom. I didn’t look too carefully as the lighting was dim and I assumed that it was backwash from the chips and dip I was eating.(That was the third red flag as I never get backwash into my drinks.) I downed the rest of it. Then, I requested a double of the Macallan 18. Same routine as above. It eventually came out. I took a sip, and then as the glass was held up to my face, I looked in. And there they were, about 6 dead black gnats, complete with wings and hairy legs, swirling around the bottom of the glass. As the gross factor started kicking in, I realized, to my horror, what the specks had been at the bottom of my Blanton’s and were currently floating in my stomach. I am not one to throw a big fit. I realized that no one comes to Baxter’s for a whiskey and so the state of their bottles and contents are probably rarely monitored. I also knew it wasn’t the waitress’ fault. So, I mustered up what dignity I could, and pointed out what had occurred to the waitress. As expected, she was extremely apologetic and went and talked to the supervisor. But here is where I was deeply offended and surprised: they decided to only comp the Blanton’s(full of bugs), the Macallan(of which I had only taken a sip of, and full of bugs), and my next drink. I thought they would at least throw in the chips and dip I had ordered(maybe $ 7), and my boyfriend’s hot dog and beer(maybe another $ 10). I would have gotten up and left at this point, if it weren’t for the fact that we had invited friends to meet up with us here and they were already on the way. I didn’t want to ruin their experience, considering my experience may have been unique to the liquor, and so had to feign a smile while I watched them drink their bug-free beers(and drank several of my own in an attempt to forget). However, this is the last time I am going to Baxter’s. The food was never that good, especially for the price they charge. I’ve had the tacos before, but the tortilla shells become mush from the liquids in the filling before you can finish it. The tortilla chips are the ones that come out of the bag. While the beers may be safe from contamination because of the volume they go through, the utter insufficiency of the apology and remediation in the face of a disgusting, unsanitary experience is what truly did it in. I’ve seen a couple of reviewers mention«beer selection.» But, their selection is really not that good(maybe impressive to an entry-level craft beer drinker), and there are much better bar options in Akron, with a bigger and more unique beer selection.
