Delicious food and the price wasn’t too bad either :) Definitely will be our new Korean barbecue joint when we’re on this side of the island!

This place is good. 1) Their food tastes like home.(the ‘how so and so used to make it or how they make it now but don’t want to cook it themselves) 2) They remember you and small things like the fact that you really like their kimchi :) 3) Clean washrooms 4) Efficient service even when the tables are full 5) Yummy banchan, incl my fav kongnamul mung beansprouts Tried and liked: –Kimchi jjigae(kimchi stew, medium or spicy is so good… if you can eat spicy, if not, go mild or med!) –Samgyetang(chicken ginseng soup, can feed two people) –Mul naengmyeon(cold noodles that are kind of chewy and vinegary, so refreshing!) Haha if you can’t tell, I like soups. I’m sure bbq is good here too. That type of cook your own or have it cooked for you at your table looked popular, too. Since I’m around here frequently, this is a comforting and convenient meal. Enjoy!

I love this place. Been going here since I was a little girl. They catered to my boyfriends needs(he’s a vegan) and he was really happy when he left. The staff here is very friendly and the food is delicious.

This was our second visit to this place but will be our LAST. Beware if you come with minimum of 5 people, they’ll tack on an 18% service charge which is crazy considering we never received a water refill and we have to cook our own food. Btw, the fifth person was a small child. There are better places on island that have better service and consideration.

Can’t believe I’ve never posted a review of Yakiniku Jang Su, it’s become our go to place for Korean BBQ if we don’t feel like driving into town. Located in the back of the Pearl Kai shopping center across the street from Pearlridge center, we’ve come to enjoy dining here whenever our daughter and friends want cook your own Korean BBQ. Food: We normally order the Dokbokki to start as well as an assortment of meats to grill. They do have meat combos but we normally just order the ala cart meats. Our usual order Kal-Bi(great fat marbling with wonderful flavor) and the Pork Belly. Served along with the standard assortment of Banchan dishes it’s a wonderful sound when your meat hits the hot grill and starts sizzling. mmmmmm. They also have soju and beers to enjoy with your meal, who doesn’t love grilled meat and a brew! Service: We’ve come to know the folks there, they treat us well when ever we dine there. Tip, call ahead and make reservations as they can get crowded quickly. Atmosphere: Standard Korean BBQ décor, booths against the wall with tables in the center. You can also grill on the center grill using portable gas but I like the booths better for the grilling experience. They have these vent hoods above each table but I don’t know if I’ve ever seen them turned on… be advised, after your meal you will smell like what you cooked! Lucky for me that’s a good thing! Value: Not the cheapest dinner around but I’m good with what they charge. I’ve paid more at fancier places. more expensive than some of those all you can eat places but it’s enough to fill me up for sure! Overall: We like it, the staff treat us well, good food and close to home. Tip, if you are circling the lot multiple times looking for a parking spot in the evening, go out towards the front by Kam Hwy towards the ewa end. A lot of the businesses like Jiffy Lube close and you can find parking there.

Pros: Good Food, Nice Service, Satisfying, Lemon Soju Cons: Not very trendy/contemporary, Intimate Alcohol: The usual Izakaya drinks. I’ve been here twice now(Fridays) both experiences have been excellent. We’re always greeted when we walk into the door. Seating is immediate. The thinly-sliced rib-eye on sizzling platter was delectable although the serving size could easily feed one person. Like most Yakiniku restaurants, they serve kim chi and a variety of side dishes. We really enjoy their lemon soju especially for such a price. This is a very good family restaurant that is worth a try if you are ever in the area. I still need to try their cook-at-the-table option.

Pretty good place to have lunch. They have specials from 11:00 — 4:00. My personal favorites are the bibimbap and fish jun. I’ve only been here for lunch which is a good amount for the price plus it’s pretty tasty. I’m not sure about dinner but the yakiniku seems expensive.

I came her with my boyfriend and friend because I was craving Korean food. My friend suggested to come here, since she had it before and remembered the food was pretty good. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, no one was there to greet us. We waited another 5 minutes until someone finally noticed us and got us seated. So, we got seated. And just waited. And waited. And waited. No water, no eating utensils, no server came up to us to get our order. Not to mention the couple seated after us, promptly got attended to, which I thought was absurd. It wasn’t even that busy. Literally waited for 25 minutes until we could no longer wait. So, we just ended up walking out due to horrible customer service.

Absolutely love eating their Yakiniku Combo B and seafood pancake! Their hot pot bibimbop is winners too. Every time I’ve gone it wasn’t enormously busy and the ladies were very friendly. I liked going to this place when it was in waimalu and i still love coming here since they’ve relocated.

What a joke. They should call themselves Mama-San Jang Su. My mom & I wanted to eat here this morning. I’ve been here previously and I enjoyed their food, I mean, they’re the only legit Korean restaurants on this side besides those to-go, fast food Korean places. Well, we get there at 10:45(they open at 11), and the door is open. I walk in and see a server. She tells me they’re not open yet so I ask her«What time are you open?» She says«11» So I ask her if we can be seated and she tells me «We open 11, but we don’t seat til 11:10.» So I tell her«That doesn’t make sense. You shouldn’t have your door open AND you should change your opening time.» My mom(a full Korean) just calmly says«Okay, thank you» and pulls me out. She goes on to tell me that businesses like that like to have MALE customers as first customers. HAH! Buy me drinky? Thumbs down for this place.

Coming from korea it’s hard to find quality korean food that’s inexpensive. The quality of the food is DEFINITELY worth the price. I’m a mulnaengmyun fanatic and they had it here! DURING«WINTER» MONTHS! The samgyupsal was great, but you have to order two plates of something to have it cooked at the table«yakiniku» style. I also had the dukboki and they asked how spicy i wanted it, asked for the spiciest and it was delicious. My husband is korean, was born and raised in korea so it’s really hard to find a place that satisfies him but within 5 minutes of being there he already had his mind made up that this would be our«go to» now. The service was awesome! They were so sweet and very attentive. 10⁄10 would go again and would recommend. I would even bring my full korean MIL there, that’s how much we love this place!

Yup this was the place that use to be by Safeway in Waimalu. Same great taste and the service is good here. Maybe cause we are regulars. So much so that the ladies know what we are going to order. The food is tasty and comes out perfectly cooked. I would’ve taken pictures of the squid with vegetables, Kal-bi, Chopchae, and the sides… but we ate it all. All that is left is the big bone from the Kalbi. Must try the food here!

2.5 stars for food. One star for service. Service is so slow and chaotic. There is a lot of time for conversation so hopefully you have a lot to talk about. They no longer serve steamed mandoo. :( They were not on their game as far as service. We waited very patiently for our food. There was a table whom arrived after us and were very lucky because they did not have the long wait. We enjoyed the ban chan. Was it because we were hungry, starving and ready to eat? The service was so bad that our waitress did not bring us serving utensils and really never noticed at all. This is what we ate: Kalbi big bone: the meat was chewy, it was overly sweet and overdone. Chap chae — it didn’t have enough vegetables and beef plus there was too much black pepper. The mandoo was good but a bit over fried. The fish jun was ok. Not the best pieces of fish. Most of the fish were dry as if it was previously frozen fish. The fish was not drained of the oil properly which made it oily. The price point seemed a bit high for what you receive. No longer considered my favorite place for Korean food. We will not be back.

I’ve been here twice now and the service and food has been great! My family and I came during dinner which all the tables usually are filled up, but it seems like they have a system going because there’s no wait line. I do think they are overpriced, but it’s more convenient than going to town for some good Korean food. I have a family of four and the bill for the past two dinners came out to around $ 110 each. Overall, it doesn’t hurt to try this place out so I definitely do recommend it.

I’ve been here a couple times with my boyfriend and it’s one of our favorite yakiniku joints! The staff is always friendly, and the service and quality of meats are great. They cook for you and are constantly checking up on you. The only thing I must say is that it’s a little on the pricier side, and they charge you for extra bowls for rice. We spend about $ 60 for two people, but we always leave there full and satisfied. Another plus is that it’s on the west side! When we’re lazy to drive to 678 or gyukaku, this place does the job.

Food is alright. Too bad it doesn’t make up for their bad customer service. We spent $ 80 for 3 people yet they charge for extra lemons! Really? They charge extra for everything and no substitutions whatsoever. I’m surprise they didn’t charge for extra napkins.

My first time eating there was last night and I can honestly say that the food was was great. Until while I was eating one of the soups(miso soup), their was a hair inside and it didn’t look like a usual hair strand(it was thicker; I can’t even imagine what kind of hair it was). At first the waitress looked at it and I guess she thought that it was a hair that was accidentally put in, but then noticed that the hair was stuck in between the tofu that was in the soup. She didn’t charge me for the soup.

Finally there’s a Korean yakiniku on the leeward side. I don’t have to drive to town or stadium mall to enjoy my Korean yakiniku. But I must say that this place is kind of pricey. Parking may be a problem since there’s other shops and the gym. But the food here is awesome. It’s not that busy which means you get to eat right away. Well at least the times I’ve been here.

This is for the bibimbap. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with bibimbap and Korean side dishes. It was very good here. however, i did come one day where I was disappointed. They were missing key ingredients in the bibimbap like uhhh… Bulgolgi? Lol. They didnt even tell me in advance. It is quite expensive as well. 14.95 however, it was filling and delicious for most of the times I came here. I had great customer service most days. Topping waters, side dishes being refilled, and not to mention their bathroom is so fricken clean. You would expect it to be gross but nope, its clean. To me thats a big plus for comforting. :-) In the end, because of the price, i bought my own bibimbap materials. Stone pot on Amazon and make home made bibimbap. Saves so much money.

Food quality — mediocre, I’ve had better Korean yakiniku. The pricing is a bit on the higher side for the small portions. Service — initially service was great, we were seated pretty quickly since it wasn’t too busy. However, we asked for a 3rd refill on our side veggies, hence we had 4 people in our party, and our server said«another refill, I just gave you». Seriously lady, what kind of customer service is that?! We should all be getting our own veggies with the price we are paying for an entrée. I was so upset, I couldn’t finish my food and we asked for our check and have never been back since then. Very unprofessional customer service and unpleasant experience!

One of the better for service and food! The owners actually are from Korea! The Su juongs And they’re awesome! The casual atmosphere and the food is amazing! The seasoned Brisket and marinated short ribs are their specialty! I also love their mandoo and their bi bim bap, which is rice seasoned with vegetables and served in a hot pot with a raw egg and kochi chan sauce you mix and it’s an explosion of flavors in your mouth from Asia! Hot spicy and full of flavors mixed with rice. Tofu chigae soup!!! Yummy lots of tofu beef and vegetables with a broth that has been marinating for 24 hours! It’s worth it!!!

Why so expensive? I cannot do ala carte korean bbq after Sikdorak. Skeptical African child meme would agree. So you’re telling me, you could pay $ 22 for ayce spicy pork/beef brisket/pork belly, but you come to dis place and pay $ 15 for a plate of kal bi? What the what? I know. I don’t get it either skeptical African child. You and me both.

Ate here 2 months ago but only got around to reviewing it now. Went in on a busy Friday night I knew that was expected. Went with the hubster and 2 friends. I missed eating korean food from living in korea and Everyone swore by the authenticity of the food so I was definitely intrigued. Went in and was seated immediately took one look at the prices and wanted to walk out. Holy smokes It was pricier then expected. After ordering I hear the waitresses talking poorly of us at our table(little known fact — I speak Korean) I told my husband what was said and he was furious we get our bill I was raging. We were charged for things that weren’t ordered. I took a look at the receipt of course written in korean. I said that these were what we ordered and there were only 4 items not 7. Waitress was surprised as I conversed in her native tongue.(Watch out ladies you never know who speaks like you) Verdict Food-5 Service-2 Prices-way to high for my taste. For the product I was getting.

First time coming here with my mom, first thing they ask when you walk in is if you want to cook your food. I mean I didn’t even know what I was going to order but I told her yeah anyway. Food was alright, I think it’s overpriced for the amount they give. I would rather go to sikdorak or camelia instead because at least it’s all you can eat, but over here you pay for certain amounts. It was pretty annoying when the older servers were cooking our food as if we didn’t know what we were doing, and when she finally came the third time my mom told her to stop trying to cook our food. The young girl server was really nice and always checked up on us. Overall it was alright. Probably won’t come here again tho, why pay more when you can just go to an AYCE yakiniku restaurant elsewhere.

Good food. Service was okay, not as good as my first time there. When you’re not looking, they take away your Kalbi bones so watch out! Haha! I had to ask for the bones so they cooked it and brought it back to us.

If I could, I’d give this place 3.5 stars. Food and service is good… I just got a couple of complaints. During my two visits(plus one take-out), I’ve only ordered their soups. The soup I always order is the Hae mool tofu chi ke, which is soft tofu with clams and seafood. I get it spicy, and spicy does really mean spicy. Love the heat! My only complaint is that I always seem to find quite a few broken clam shells in the soup. Most of the pieces are small but sharp. Don’t enjoy biting down on a tofu, expecting it to be soft but then I bite into something hard(shell pieces). I’ve also recently tried the Yook gae jang. Comes with noodle, vegetables, eggs, and beef. The broth has a similar taste to something I’ve tried before, just can’t put my finger on it. It’s pretty good, definitely worth trying. And I love how the beef is shredded! Service can be a hit or miss. Ironically, service was on point when it was busy, but not on point when we were the only customers there. Their sides are good, but nothing special about them. Have had better at other Korean restaurants.
