History

Established in 1989.

The business was started by Drs. Robert Kikawa and Harry Terada in Kaimuki. In 1977, Dr. Wayne Matsuyama joined the practice. A few years later, Dr. Kikawa retired and Dr. Gerald Matsuyama joined the practice. In 1989, a branch office was opened which is now known as Styleyes. In 2006, the two offices were split and Dr. Wayne Matsuyama took over Styleyes and is presently running it.

Dr. Wayne Matsuyama graduated from St. Louis High School. At age 15, while he was at St. Louis High School, he was admitted to Chaminade to take early admissions courses. Following gradation from St. Louis, he went to the University of Southern California for 2 years followed by another year at the University of Hawaii. He was admitted to the Illinois College of Optometry and graduated with a doctorate in optometry.

Dr. Matsuyama has been the president of the Hawaii Optometric Association and Pearl City Lions Club. He has also been chairman of the Kaimuki-​Waialae YMCA and the State Medical Advisory Board. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Honolulu Optimist Cllub, Kaimuki Business & Professional Association and the Aiea-​Pearl City Business Association. Dr. Matsuyama was also on the PTO Board at Waimalu Elementary School as well as the Aiea Neighborhood Board.
