Inspecs Eyewear

I decided to try Inspecs because of the many referrals I’ve received from friends! I’ve seen the same eye doctor for years prior to this but for some reason every time I’ve gone, he insisted that my eye sight wasn’t as bad as I thought and my glasses never fully satisfied me.
First off I got a very quick appointment which is sometimes necessary when you have a little baby and want to have a sitter in place.
The employees & doctor here are SO helpful and friendly! I actually enjoyed talking with them. They were very patient with me and my incompetence towards my vision insurance! Lol! I’m a first time prescription contact lens user and I love that I can try my contacts before I decide to purchase them!
Needless to say, I’ll be returning to this location!

I’m your typical casual Unilocaler. «The People’s Unilocaler» as some may call me, and by «some» I mean just myself. I only Unilocal to review establishments when I’ve gone on a vacation or a trip, when I have come across a disappointing experience, or when I have experienced exceptional service. I also want to ramble on and point out that outside of my profession, on my off-​time, I’m an extremely Lazy person. We’re talking «Leaving the channel on the 70’s disco set of cd’s infomercial for half an hour because I’m too lazy to fetch the remote that is just 6 feet away» Lazy. So it must take an amazingly amount of good or bad to make me open up my laptop, log on to it, open my browser, sign on to Unilocal,search up the business, click on the appropriate star rating, and take 5 to 10 mins to write an at least semi coherent review. That is the case with InSpecs Eyewear. They merit all of that «hard work» for me to write this review that most likely no one will read.
Everyone on the staff was super friendly, even though I messed up the date that I was supposed to show up. Dr. Mike was very personable the whole time and the Staff was extremely helpful. Now I’m not one to play the victim of prejudice game, but as a local kid covered in tattoos, dressed in baggy clothes and a backwards ball cap (don’t judge my sense of style, its just comfortable for me and suits my personality), I do get the stand offish treatment often. Which I don’t mind, as I am an introvert and like to be left alone most of the time, but its always nice to have people be so friendly when there is no need to be. They made me feel very comfortable, and Dr. Mike in his exam and evaluation of my eye sight showed incredible knowledge in his field while making me feel like an old friend as we talked about football between the different eye tests. After the exam, I went out to check out some frames, and the one I wanted wasn’t in stock, so the nice woman at the desk called three other locations to see if they had it, and the other fellow on the floor helped assess that the frames I wanted was too small and confirmed that I should go with a larger size. My plan originally was to get my eye exam to get my prescription and then purchase my glasses online. But because everyone there is so friendly and the prices are decent I will buy my glasses from them to support their business.
Go to InSpecs Eyewear. For your eye exam and your glasses and/​or contacts. You won’t find any better service.
Now since, I’m already logged on to my laptop, and have an hour left till heading in to work, I’m back off into my lazy mode and will watch epic fail videos on youtube brainlessly for an hour.

In specs ward center has the most clueless people working there!!! I called to check on my contact order that I placed weeks ago and they said it takes 7 days to come in, the girl said they will call if it came in and if 2 weeks past they will return them, HELLO I GOT NO CALL then when I told the girl how do you know when I ordered my contacts when you guys don’t even write down the order date!!! Stuuuupid! I wouldn’t trust this place with my eyes!!! Let alone the bad professionalism «2 thumbs down» for this business!!! Lens crafter’s here I come!!!

Dr. V and his staff were great from the moment I walked in until I left. My encounter first began at the optical store at Tripler which InSpecs just took over. They don’t do eye exams so Myra was able to squeeze an appointment for me the same day at the Pearlridge location.
Dr. V found out what my problem was with my eyes and I was finally relieved knowing I won’t need to go anywhere else. I’ve had 2 other optometrists conduct my yearly eye exams and when I tried to explain the issues I was having with my eyes, turn in my RX and pick up my glasses, that’s when I felt my glasses were still not helping me from the eye strain I continued to feel. Now, voila… Dr. V knew and I’m so grateful!
I’ll be back for return business and I will for sure recommend family and friends to see you too.

I talked to the lady with glasses for a while about contact lenses or new frames for hubby. She was soooo nice to me. She even said that they’d order the frames hubby wanted if they didn’t have them in stock. So finally convinced hubby to give them a try, I was there for an exam for VA. Hubby asked so you can order the frames I want. Well first you can go to the military locations and see if they have them and then maybe we could order them for you. Hubby was instantly pissed. She didn’t offer to call the other stores or look into ordering them. So no customer service to my hubby. So then we went upstairs to LensCrafters. You would think a small place would be more willing to be diver backwards. But not in this case. Good luck

If you were not catching on to what I was trying to convey, then let me explain. I was chanting her name, yes that is right — as if I was at the World Series!
So I arrived to the location in Aiea/​Pearlridge next to the best place on earth TJ MAXX. Between you and me, I have been VERY disappointed with high rated doctors, dentists, car wash places, and restaurants in Aiea. I am not sure if the businesses friends are writing the reviews or if some of these people are trying to be loyal. Either way, I was a touch concerned.
The team in the front is nothing less than BAD ASS! …and I am talking in a great way. They have a system down to deliver great care quickly on the front end, and they are friendly and informative? …ummm really?
Dr. Hiusher, is THE BEST OPTOMOTRIST I have ever been too. I know I loook not a day over 24 in my pic, but that is not thus. She knows her craft as she should, and she delivers information and care in the most knowledgeable, thoughtful, effective way! I have been wearing contacts for almost ten years now, and she told me things about contacts that I had NO IDEA about, like where the lines in my contacts were supposed to go and why! I mean… really? I love information like that, and it is better late than never to have the knowledge.
I highly recommend Dr. Husher and team.
…so following my contact fitting I had really bad pain in my right eye. I was worried, since it felt like there was something scratching my eye constantly. It only seemed to get worse. The night before I went to see her, I could not sleep the pain was so bad. I decided to call, and again her team fit me in. It seems that when I was taking out the contacts I was getting fit for, I squeezed and scratched my cornea. She said she could see three scratched over the middle of my eyeball. Let’s just say, I was blown away. She handed me a prescription and here I am today — back to brand new with some new eyeball skin (assuming that it has grown back.)
BAD NEWS… Dr. Husher is moving away to Alaska. She is going to be working with the Native population. She is amazing, and Hawaii is at a loss for a competent, thoughtful, knowledge filled clinician. Safe travels to her and her hubby, and know that you always are welcome in Hawaii!

Stopped into order my son some glasses. They were very friendly and offered us a 10% military discount.
Their prices seem to be very reasonable and less then the NEX prices.

Gotta love Dr. V and his staff! Me and my sister have been going here for years and they are always so nice. The lady at the front always remembers us also. :)
You can tell Dr. V has been doing what he does for years. He’s really informative, nice and personable. Their prices are also very reasonable.

Dr. Husher is awesome. She is very personal and makes you feel comfortable. My son loves her and is was so happy with his glasses. The staff is very nice as well.

If you’re going to get an eye appointment, then I recommend Dr. Angel Husher. I had a fantastic examination. She gave me everything I need. Thank you Dr. Husher.

I’m not sure if I’ve given a 5 star review yet… but this place is AWESOME. Great Doctors, amazing staff! Did I say AMAZING? They are super friendly, crazy knowledgable, and most helpful. I have my regular eye Dr., but I’ll be returning here for my vision exams! If I had one request, it would only be for more frames that fit my fat head! LOVE it here!

I absolutely adore this place and the staff. Dr V (Vanlangeveld) has been my optometrist for years at the Ward location. So genuinely nice and a professional in his expertise. He’s also very personable. A few years back I had to go to Chicago on a business trip and he gave me all of his suggestions of where to eat since he’s originally from Chicago. And yes I tried majority of his recommendation and it was spot on.
Only until recently did I have to switch to one of the other doctor that co shares offices with him. Due to an emergent situation, I met Dr Husher because Dr V was at the Ward location. She’s a young, beautiful, vibrant, and knowledgable doctor! Her personality was very cheerful and her smile was very contagious you’d think she was a dentist.
My son and I agree, they’re both awesome. Dr. V is like the brother type and Dr. Husher is like a best friend.
My son and I are regular customers. And by regular, I mean they already know our face and name when we show up or call. My son’s condition is a little better than mine but since he plays sports, he’s always needing more attention than I do. And the staff here always accommodates our busy schedule regardless of how many times I’ve either no showed or canceled (sigh). Sorry bout that.
The assistants are just as top knotch. Michael is so helpful and accommodating as is the other assistants. Their personalities are also great.
Located at Uptown of Pearlridge mall, next to Robeks, parking is the usual: busy during peak shopping hours. But the great part about being here is shopping and eating after your appointment or if you have to wait for your glasses to get done.
The prices are by far cheaper than any other eyewear store ranging from $ 39.99 (frames only, not including lenses) up to $ 200. Quality for the glasses are okay but not like you need them to last a lifetime since you’re suppose to change every other year any way. (Yearly for contacts) And by that time, the style and trend would have changed so you’ll have no problem getting a new pair.
They accept most medical insurance and they’ll do the paperwork so you don’t have to worry about giving your left eye as payment ;)

I have to say the best place to get your eye exam they are so friendly and their cheap compared to a lot of places

Bought two pairs of glasses from the Uptown Pearlridge store so far, Michael and Yvette have been very helpful each time. Prices and selection are excellent and I used my script from my personal eye doctor. Both Michael and Yvette are knowledgeable and helpful. Have noticed Yvette tidying up the store and putting up holiday decorations on occasions when holidays are drawing near. I recommend this store to anyone looking for a good deal and or selection.

My rating of 3 stars is only for the Pearlridge location. I give Ward’s location 5 stars and love seeing Hollie, she’s always on it when it comes to my appointments, insurance coverage and orders for glasses/​contacts. Always 5 stars overall for Dr. VanLangeveld, I’ve been seeing him for a few years.
I give 3 stars due to 2 women who work there, who I’ll keep unnamed. I came on two separate occasions to adjust my glasses. I usually see Hollie at Ward but since I no longer live in town, I had to go to the Pearlridge location for the first time. One night I stopped by and the receptionist was there by herself. I stood there for a good few seconds while her hubby handed her a smoothie and saw that she was scrolling on her phone. She didn’t greet me with a smile, but when I told her what I was there for, she made a motion for me to hand her my glasses. She asked what needed to be adjusted and I explained where. Then she asks, «Why is it like this?» with almost a disgusted face. I asked, «Why is what like this?» She points to the piece that goes behind my ears and says, «Why is it bent so much?» I explained in an upset tone that’s how it is because I’m petite and that’s how Ward adjusted it so I can wear it comfortably. She then then continues to say, «Are you okay? You seem upset.» with a tone of sarcasm. I ask, «Could you just adjust it?» She then stands up and says she’s not an adjuster and the adjuster left for the day but she’ll do what she can because the piece is so bent inward that the metal inside might break. Ok, understandable that she’s not an adjuster and is «concerned» about the metal piece, but that doesn’t justify why she’d ask with an attitude why a customer’s glasses look a certain way. I have NEVER had anyone ask me that, let alone with an attitude, in my 10+ years of having glasses. To make it easier on us, maybe she could of told me in the beginning she’s not an adjuster. I left and decided I’ll come back another time.
I came back a few days later and another lady helped me who seemed to know what she was doing. On top of adjusting my glasses, I asked if I could replace my nose pieces and she said yes but it’ll cost $ 5 (which I’ve done before, so I was expecting it). She handed it to me after fixing it, I put it on and thanked her. While walking around the mall, I noticed a lil pressure on the right side of my nose. I took off my glasses and noticed the right nose piece was smaller and was pushing against my skin more. I went back to the store and saw the same lady who adjusted it. She fixed it for me, honest mistake, but didn’t apologize that I had to come back.
Overall, this staff just doesn’t seem as inviting and friendly as Ward’s location. :(

I was recently diagnosed with farsightedness and needed to get rx glasses for the first time in my life (!!!). So on a recommendation of my coworker I came here. I found out that at InSpecs, if you have a fairly low rx your lens are FREEEEEE and you only pay for the frames. Granted if you have insurance to cover you, you pay even less for the frames bc of insurance (depending on your plan). My insurance only allowed me to go to specific stores that did not include InSpecs but the other stores charged me $ 100 for lens! So my total was close to $ 200 for frames and lens! I was not okay w paying that much for glasses I will be using sparingly!
At InSpecs I think I tried on about 20 – 25 glasses before I found my geek-​tastic glasses! I fell in love with my nerdy glasses and I knew I had to buy them! I was kind of nervous of the price, but when I saw the total I was quite surprised! I ended up paying $ 80 for my frames AND Lens (which were free, score!) !
Now why the 4 stars, InSpecs ward truly exemplified great customer service and professionalism! The store is small, but neatly kept and upon entering the store someone always greets you with a warm hello. I was allowed to browse without being bothered and when I had questions they gave me their undivided attention. Plus they also provided estimates prior to purchasing! The truly great part is, I only had to wait ONE day before getting the call that my glasses have arrived for pick up at the store! Truly truly great service! When I need a new pair of glasses I will be back! 8)
The only reason I deducted a star is due to not much variety in the store and not too many different brands. But overall, I’m happy with my glasses and my experience at this store!

Woke up on Saturday morning decided I need to see my eye doctor. This is year two coming here. First time seeing Dr. Angel. Walked in at 10am told them what going on and was seen a few minutes later. Dr. Angel was very professional and polite. She has a perky personality, very happy cheerful person. The gentleman working at the counter was also very friendly profession and helpful. Overall I am very happy with In Specs and will recommend them to friends and family. Keep up the great work.

Third year in a row with same eye doctor. This is a new record for me. I think I might have found the cheapest coolest and contacts place for me. They are always fast and always giving me loaner contacts until my order comes in. Also cheapest color contacts available and price matching with Sams club!!! Awe yeah can you say savings!!!

All you need is a prescription! Much cheaper than other places and cute lenses too!
If you do not have full coverage for eye care, this is defnitly the place to go! I prefer the thicker plastric frames, but they have wire frames as well and have a few different types of lenses you can choose from. The basic is free with the frame and I believe the upgraded one is about
$ 40-​$ 60 more. All frames are unisex or try to be. I bought glasses there last year and I just recently purchased another because I well… stepped on mine. :(The first time I bought glasses ($ 80) I was able to wait aobut 30 minutes, which meant walking around other stores in the mall come back and pick mine up. The pair I bought recently cost about $ 125 and I have to wait two weeks for them to come in. I would recommend this place to anyone because its a cheaper alternative and the employees there are very nice, quiet type, but pleasant.

My daughter was afraid to get her eyes checked at first, but the staff was so friendly & patient that it made her feel better.
