Anytime you can bring a bunch of food trucks together in the same spot for at least a couple of hours… then I’m down! We arrived around 1:30pm and they were still setting up. They had a nice giant tent area with plenty of tables and chairs. The breeze from under the tent felt wonderful. Some food trucks were already there, waiting on some customers, and ready to begin the festivities. The food trucks/vendors that I saw while we were there(until about 3pm) were: Leonard Jr’s Malasadamobile food truck , Local Stop food truck , Chimney Cakes, Queen Street Café, the new Braddah’s food truck(that turned out to be a hit), the Guava Style Shrimp & Chicken stand, Lickety Split , Blazin’ Steaks, Kazu’s Lunchwagon & Catering , 3 Ladles , Liquid Pleasure , Achilles Grill Thai Food, and Guava Smoked. A good selection, but many of the trucks had not yet arrived. That was okay with me though, cause I had a Tippr voucher for Local Stop and got to try their pastele and kalua pig nachoes . I also got a caramel frap from Liquid Pleasure the bf got his favorite chocolate sprinkles ice cream cone from Lickety Split. The entrance fee wasn’t horrible, but then I also bought us a Living Social voucher for 2 for 1. So instead of us separately paying $ 5 each, it was just $ 5 for both of us. Perhaps that’s why not so many Unilocalers came out to this event? And because it was farther away from town? I was happy that it was closer to me this time :) Hopefully they’ll do some more of these in the future and perhaps make it a shorter event so that the trucks have some more time to come and setup! Next time, I’m getting myself a chimney cake! Unilocal365-#014/365

Guys know that diamonds are a girls best friend. Some girls are wooed by flowers. Some girls swoon over poems. Other girls get teary eyed by hand written letters. A bunch of girls are taken by expensive fast cars. But me… my heart goes pitter patter, pitter patter, for food. It leaps and does kart wheels for sweets: D. When my husband continuously showed up at my door step with food, instead of flowers. I knew this guy was the one. The way to KIM’s heart is through her stomach. Food events gets my heart racing. I enjoy going to Eat the Street located in town. So I was counting down the days for this first ever Lunch Truck Pa’ina to happen in Pearl City. Woohoo! for closer to home and that this event happened on the weekend. It cost $ 5 for general admission and 12 and under were free to get in. We arrived at 1:30 pm and not all of the trucks were set up yet. Plus, I didn’t see Inferno Pizza. My family and I headed to the Kid Zone. For $ 10 you got a wristband for unlimited use of the jumping castle and the TumbleBus. Plus your child could get a free tattoo and cotton candy(what a deal). Isn’t the best nap when you’ve eaten a full load of food? I knew after the event he was going to go knack attack along with mommys food coma. They also had 3 games available which was maned by a little girl. She let my older son play a few extra times. It cost $ 2 to play each game. The cost was worth the prizes. My son got a Power Ranger set of supplies, 3-D animal puzzles, and a spinner top. That were only the small constellation prizes. If you go during the day remember to bring an umbrella because it was blazing hot. Luckily, some of the vendors from the swap meet were still packing up and we were able to purchase one. My son enjoyed ogling the classic cars and admired the new Camaro cars. Droves of cars kept on coming in but we didn’t see any bikes. I’m sure my son would have been content bouncing through the bouncy castles and taking breaks by looking at the cars till 9 pm. But my baby was getting restless. We left at 3:45 pm. No Inferno Pizza truck, no Ono Pops, no shave ice, no live bands, no rides, and it didn’t look like there were 20 lunch trucks there. I know it was their first event so there are some minor kinks to figure out. My son enjoyed this event then the other two Eat the Street events we attended so I know we’ll be back for the next event. This event was alright. Nothing in particular stood out from the rest. The event supposedly started at 1pm and we got there around 1:30 thinking it would be crowded. It seemed really dead and not all the food trucks were set up and some just arrived when we got there. Good thing about that was that we didn’t have to pay to get in. We walked over from the mall and there was no one collecting the vouchers or money when we walked in(They ran a LS voucher). But when we were leaving we noticed that you paid upon driving in. Score that we didn’t have to pay. There were tents with table and chairs to sit and eat. We ended up getting food from the Braddah’s-kiawe smoked meat and a cheeseburger with garlic fries. My hubby said his smoked meat was good and my cheeseburger was okay too. It came on a sourdough bread and not just a regular bun. She screwed up my order though and didn’t give me my garlic fries.;(We also had a Cinnamon Chimney Cake which was a nice, bready treat. There weren’t any of the other«big name» trucks there. Overall, I like that there is something like this on this side of the island rather than having to drive all the way into town. There was also a kid zone with a bouncer and a few games, a car show and supposedly a bike show, which is kinda why my hubby wanted to go. There were no bikes there. So to me it was kind of disorganized. IDK the event does go till 9pm tonight so maybe the bikes will come later? There seemed to be a lot of parking when we left. This was the first one so maybe more trucks will start coming and the event will get bigger and hopefully more organized.
