Long overdue review if it’s the same owner from the 90’s, long story short, I was a full-​time college at the time and left the car issues to my old’ dad to bring it to them because he «trusted» them, after the semester gone by I later see that the car was practically being brought back to them every month, apparently they by my speculation because of the problem my dad describe versus what they done — were likely slashing the radiator hose slightly so it would burst spilling fluid in 2 – 3 weeks or less. I was unaware until I asked why he kept bringing it back to them 5 times, the repairs they did itself did not make sense from the problem my dad describe as leaking coolant from what he can see from what was eventually charged. I’ve avoided that place ever since. Hawaii’s a small place, being greedy like that and taking advantage of seniors ain’t cool bro. it ain’t cool at all.

I agree! It was fast and first come first serve literally. I came first spoke to the
person who does the actual safety check then another guy came right after me went straight in spoke to the cashier so my thought they were going to take him first but that’s not what happened. I was elated! Mahalo nui loa.

Monday, 4÷4÷16.
Let me just preface this short and sweet review to say that my son is just fine! Daddy had a big scare earlier this morning after his doctors appointment in Aiea.
Long story short, after getting baby situated and ready to go, I placed my phone and keys in the passenger seat then shut the door. At that point the car was unlocked, so I thought because when I proceeded to enter the vehicle from the drivers side, it was locked with baby in the car. Well, good samaritans to include my doctor came to help. After trying to get the door open, one of the good samaritans ran across the street to the Shell gas station to of they had a tool to open the car or come and help because my son was locked inside. Well, to his surprise, the station attendant said they could help but he will be charged and needs to get the pricing sheet to see how much the charge will be. Of course, the gentlemen tells him that’s okay and comes back to assist me with my situation but by that time, Christy came with the keys to unlock and we were able to get baby out, a bit sweaty and hot but doing just fine!
I guess this post isn’t that short and sweet! I am shaking my head to try and understand the kind of world we live in nowadays that this individual would respond in that way when my son was in danger and anything to help would have been great! I cannot believe the actions of this individual and unfortunately he is attached to this place of business. If it were me, no questions asked, drop what I am doing and ask, «What can I do?!»
Even the gentleman and his wife along with my doctor kept shaking their heads wondering why they would not help. I guess it’s a place of business and regardless of the situation, big or small, it comes with a price! I am not one to write long winded posts but this one I couldn’t let go. This is after a sitting down and thinking about the situation then writing about my experience.
I have a learned a valuable lesson for myself in regards to the situation as well as the owner of this gas station. Take a long hard look at the people you hire, teach them about being selfless at times of crisis and sometimes, money isn’t everything…

The customer service was good all around. We got bulbs replaced for one car, and tires replaced on another car. Both cars needed safety check. Glad it is out of the way. We waited a couple hours for the car with tire change. The first car was quick. I didn’t notice until I got home that the rims were scratched, the driver side worse than the passenger side. Im not happy about it, but I’m not going to go up there and complain about it because they were the only ones that would help on a Saturday, even though they were crazy busy. The total cost came out to $ 400 and some change. That’s not bad at all. I wish my rims didn’t get damaged while they were in the process of replacing the tires, and I wish someone was honest enough to tell me that damages had occurred, but it’s something minor. I’m not losing any sleep over it. I really appreciated that the staff was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. It was my first time coming here for service and safety check. I would usually just stop by for smokes early in the morning before work, and even the early morning cashiers are friendly. I’m not familiar with the recycling, but my husband comes up here all the time, so they must be okay.

The other night I visited a friend up the hill. When it was time to leave, my car wouldn’t start. There were all symptoms that the starter had failed. Plus, I had just replaced the battery and alternator at another shop a couple of weeks ago. I had my car towed to Aiea Shell since it was the closest and had a 24 hour attendant to receive my car for service for the following morning. The night attendant was pleasant, professional and helpful. I felt very comfortable leaving my car keys with him.
The next morning about 10:45 I got a call saying the car was ready for pickup. My first thought was, they didn’t call me to approve the work (although I needed to get my car running anyway). But when I asked how much it was, it was $ 47. Turns out it was a bad terminal/​connector. They replaced it and I was back in business.
How awesome is that? It’s great to know of an honest establishment. They could’ve changed my starter anyway and made a couple/​few hundred. I never got to meet the mechanics since I picked up the car after 7:30 pm from the night cashier (another nice option to pick up after hours). The cashier was super nice, super friendly.
My whole first time experience at Aiea Shell was a blessing. Based on this experience, I would recommend them to check your car when you have problems.

First time here. Convenient location, efficient but not very friendly staff.
The recycling area, as expected, is pretty sticky and covered in dried up soda. Not much different than any other recycling facility but still sort of… yuck.
The attendant didn’t smile or give a greeting. Not a good start especially because I’m trying to teach my son how to do this on his own so he can earn his own money (meaning that I’ll drive and sit in the car… he turns the cans in and does the talking… and collects the cans before hand of course). After asking him a few «newbie» type questions, he warmed up and turned out to be helpful. Glad about that, just wish he new how to smile around kids.
We brought our voucher to the cashier and she gave us our payout– a whole $ 5.80, big money in the eyes of a kid. Just like the recycling attendant though, efficient but not friendly.
Oh well. Not a terrible experience.

So im sitting at full service… no one comes to help me or say I’ll be right with you. Why have full service if you can’t service your customers!!!

The only reason I am giving 2 stars and not 1 is due to the excellent cashier that tried to smooth things out for me this morning. This wasn’t the first time I attempted to use this station for some kind of fix on my jeep. But it most definitely will be my last. The mechanics are lazy. They do half assed jobs. And when I finally had everything completed for my safety inspection they decided it was their break time. Now it wouldn’t have bothered me if there was any amount of work to be done. But 2 hours later when they finally had the time to work on my jeep it took them less than 5 minutes to walk around my car take some pictures and sign off on my paperwork. Less than 5 minutes… after their 2 hour break.

I only come here because this is down the street from my house and my car needs premium gas. The customer service here is not pleasant.
There is also a full service gas pump, but I don’t see anyone using it. The self service gas pumps are poorly configured and hard to navigate in. If there is someone in front or back of you, you may get stuck until they are done.
They also offer can and bottle recycling. The workers are pretty efficient and give you a slip of paper to take inside the cashier to get your money. This is where it gets scary. There is an old asian grandma in there with a sour face and doesn’t talk to you at all. She must be the owner or a relative because why in the world is someone who obviously hates her life be allowed to work here and give such horrible customer service. I left there feeling like I broke a law or something.
I fill my gas late at night to avoid the workers to prevent other customers blocking me in.

Not too much to say… it’s a gas station, recycle zone, convenient store and shop. I came for a safety check and they were quick and thorough. Curtis was helpful and polite. Wivill definitely be returning.

Wish I had the option to give this business 0 stars. Worst place for customer service. Came here for a safety check, and the wait was ridiculous. not 20 min, 30 min or even an hour. it was over 2 hours!!! Furthermore, the grandma that works there has zero knowledge of what is going on, I asked her a question and she couldn’t give me a straight answer, «as your customer, how can you make my experience more positive?!» It’s ridiculous how they run their business, the employees don’t communicate what is going on, we the customers have to suffer because of it. It’s no wonder these mom and pop businesses are going down. no one know what the hell they are doing. Don’t support these local folks, go to a big box company that know how to run a business and know how to provide customer satisfaction.

The service center guy is a rude douche who acts like you’re taking up his precious time. Came back after the DMV to get my safety sticker (safety was done by him a week prior) and he made me wait over an hour before checking my registration and giving me my sticker.

Called Aiea Shell before heading down to the station. Asked the Cashier if they had a air/​water station, she replied yes, just drive up to pumps 5 & 6 air is open and ready for use. Drove there, sure enough air was at pump 5 & 6, it was open. Pulled the hose to fill my tire with air but instead it flatten my tire even more. Called the Cashier again, she came out to help, but this time the tire was flat to the ground. She went back into the store, came out and said I’m so sorry the compressor does NOT come on til 645am. OMG OMG OMG. Another worker comes out and says yeah sorry it doesn’t come on til 7am. WTH! Please inform your workers about your air compressor or keep the air locked til the compressor is on.

Needed to get a safety check close to the pearlridge satellite city hall and this was the closest ones. Had to wait about an hour to get it done. Most places would take 20 minutes.

avoid this place. my car was stolen because they left the keys in the car. the car was driven off by a women customer buying coffee. Luckily the surveillance camera recorded the theft. I got a call from the service station thinking the repair was done instead I was informed my car was stolen! The car was found few days later in waipahu. the car was abandoned after a joy ride. it resulted in great stress and frustration!

The worst safety inspection ever. Had a guy with glasses «helping» us out, he had an attitude problem and cause us a lot of headache. Due to his mistakes we had to go back and forth to wahiawa satellite to the safety inspection place. I wouldn’t recommend this place to ANYBODY.

I am so shocked how the customer service has gone DOWN at this place. If I could give this 0 stars, I would.
I dropped off my car for a safety inspection. I get a call abut 2 hours later to pick up my carl. I still have the message:
«This is Aiea Shell. Your car is ready for pick up. Thank you»
I go to pick up my car and pay for the inspection when I find out that my car didn’t pass the safety check.
1. Why wasn’t I notified that my car didn’t pass inspection?
2. Why was the message only stating to come pick up my car when obviously there needed to be other things done to it?
The world will never know.
So I take my car and leave because I had brought two friends/​coworkers with me to shell assuming that «pick up your car» meant it was clear to drive.
I then go to run errands but in the back of my mind I’m wondering… really? they didn’t even call and tell me about my tire/​tires?
So then I call and talk to «L» who does nothing but blame the «new cashier» for the mistake:
1. Why would/​should the cashier call me and tell me about my car? what if I had questions or needed a quote. What if I wanted to know specifically what was wrong with my tires? would she know? No. Because all it says on the ticket was «Front Tire» (keep in mind that that’s singular –as in only ONE tire.)
2. The next time you give an apology, make sure its not riddled with attitude. Fess up to the mistake and try to sound SINCERE. NOT like you could care less. Customer service is lacking lacking lacking.
3. Sorry but asking ME what my tire size is plain ridiculous. I don’t deal with tires. I figured they could just look up my car in the computer system. Oh right,…they DON’T HAVE ONE. Maybe they wrote it down on the safety check paper since I’m going to need new tires anyway… NOPE. Obviously, they weren’t planning on changing my tires period. They apparently don’t need the business???
I go back to drop off my car thinking maybe they’ll turn this whole day around.
WRONG.
I spoke to a tech who said he had to check if he could order my «tire» He says I need TWO tires. (PLURAL!!!) Whatever.
I ask for an estimate. He tells me to” WAIT there. He’ll be right back“
20 minutes later!!!
«L» comes in and says «I didn’t know you were waiting here. I’ve been trying to call you». WTF?!? Where’s the communication in this place?!?
Again, whatever.
Gives me an estimate for ONE tire:
Me: Don’t I need two tires?
«L»: I don’t know. Do you need two tires?
Me: (in my head… WTF?!? HOw the hell am I supposed to know?!? Did I do my OWN SAFETY CHECK??? the paper you gave back states «front tire”/then the tech tells me two tires. Then you quote me for ONE tire?!?)
I thought I needed two tires.
«L»: (attitude of course) Then times this number by two.
wow.
Do you even know what the hell you’re doing Shell???
This is the last time I will ever be using Shell Aiea. I’ll admit they’ve been a very convenient location but I’d substitute the convenience for BETTER SERVICE!!!

I haven’t really went to this place to do auto repairs or what not but usually for redeeming/​recycling HI-​5 bottles/​cans and getting gas. The gas station is vertically inclined alongside going up the road right next to McDo and Aiea Shopping Center. The convenience store inside is pretty cool even though it is super small. They have a lot of stuff/​food. The A/​C is really cold inside if you stay in there for long. The prices in the store is decent and gas prices will always be gas prices. The staff and customer service is pretty good. The guys at the redemption center are really helpful.

Safety Checks are welcome! You know the routine with safety checks, you need to renew them every so often, don’t know the exact date but i only notice it because of my sticker on the back of the car.
To avoid any unwanted ticket we needed to get it done ASAP, it was already 12 days behind, oops well we were lucky that we didn’t get a ticket.
As we get there my boyfriend parks the car in the service center and a unfriendly service guy was there to check us in. Harold was his name and he barley spoke to us, he just asked for the keys and he parked the car further in to raise the car. He did what was necessary for him to approve us on our safety check.
I really don’t get how people can wait around for their safety’s do be done because there are no chairs or no waiting area, so my boyfriend and I just stood around, mainly in front of the store. Yeah how lame was that we were just watching drivers pass by and watch people fill their tanks with gas. I thought it was weird that this worker was walking back and forth with eating out of foil and occasionally he would help customers fill the tanks.
Shell is supposedly the only place to get your safety check done other thank your car service. The price is reasonable, it came out to $ 22 which is very appropriate to making sure we are all safe in the car.
